My First {EVER} RU Team

Hi, I made this team last night on Pokemon Showdown and have not lost with it with is weird because I'm not a very good battler and haven't made a team or battled in a while.

ANYWAY - First up is Crawdaunt

342.gif

Crawdaunt @ Leftovers
Trait: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Crunch
- Waterfall
- Substitute

Crawdaunt is a pokemon I've always loved and is the pokemon I wanted to base my team around. With adaptability he is really useful, especially after a DDance. Both crunch and waterfall can deal with multiple threats I have come up against like Slowking, Aerodactyl, Aggron, Archeops, Entei, Gallade - The list goes on. Really strong team member - love using it.

146.gif

Moltres @ Life Orb
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 Def
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Hurricane
- Roost
- Hidden Power [Grass]

I chose Moltres as I wanted to go with FWG combination AND it has great SAtk - It is carrying FB for a good STAB fire move to take down poke's like Cryagonal, Roselia or Lilligant which can threaten my team. Hurricane is an obvious choice for me as it is STAB and if rain is dropped, which can seriously dampen FB, Hurricane can't miss making it a strong, dependable move. Roost is there to deal with SEVERE Stealth Rocks damage and HP [grass] is in place to deal with threatening water poke's like Feraligatr at a last resort, albeit, is rarely used.

123.gif

Scyther @ Eviolite
Trait: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Aerial Ace
- Roost
- Brick Break

Scyther, adding to my FWG combo, is a great fast-physical sweeper, especially after setting up with a Swords Dance or 2! It can be taken down by common Fire, Rock or Electric types, which is a shame, however, when put in against an unsuspecting normal types it can tear! Especially with Eviolite.

Rotom-Mow @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 180 SDef / 76 Def / 252 HP
Calm Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Volt Switch
- Leaf Storm

More of a support piece as you can see, carrying will-o-wisp. Got Pain Split as a bit of a stally move as well as volt switch. Leaf Storm packs a punch, however, without SAtk EV's I can't really put it in and expect it to sweep but, as I said, that's not what it's there for.

306.gif

Aggron @ Chople Berry
Trait: Rock Head
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Autotomize
- Head Smash
- Aqua Tail
- Magnet Rise

So strong, so physically defensive! It's just an all round physical beast which fills in a lot of the weaknesses that i have on this team like rock and poison and psychic. Chople berry allows it to take one hit from a fighting type which aids longevity.

310.gif

Manectric @ Expert Belt
Trait: Lightningrod
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
- Flamethrower
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Grass]

THE REVENGE KILLER of RU. It is the heart and soul of my team, works so well, especially after taking an electric hit. Expert belt helps out giving added damage to Flamethrower and HP [grass] that aren't STAB. Volt switch is there to give some STAB switch damage which can be extremely helpful!

Thanks for taking a look at my team, any and all feedback is appreciated. Like I said, I don't really know what I'm talking about all the time so cut me some slack;P.

Thanks anyway guys.

Ok, only one prob I got with the team. It needs a spinner. 1/3 of you team goes to 50% HP just to switch in and the other is harsly damaged as well im saying cryogonal over manteric.

I have noticed that, stealth rocks wreck my team. I've got rid of Rotom-Mow instead of Manectric and gone with a more support Cryoganal

Cryogonal @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 92 SDef / 164 Def / 248 HP
Calm Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Ice Beam
- Recover
- Toxic

I did this because Rotom-mow was doing nothing in comparison to what Manectric was doing for my team. If you'd like to tell me your reasoning for switching Manectric out I'll take a look into and try it out

Thanks for your reply! :)

I'm not the most experienced RU player, but I highly advise against using 3 stealth rock weak guys where 2 are 4x weak and the other is your spinner. This means if your opponent has a spin blocker or sets up rocks more than once after you've spun them away, half your team becomes practically dead weight. Also your only fighting resists happen to be those 4x weak to stealth rocks so if your opponent sends out a fighting type when there's stealth rocks on your side of the field, they're gonna tear through your team. I'd get rid of either moltres or scyther, your choice and maybe replace cryogonal with another spinner cuz IMO cryogonal is the worst spinner in RU by far.

Hello Cherpib, and welcome to the RU Tier.

Overall, this Team is decent competitevly and has a lot of room for improvement. The Team appears to be an Offensive Team, so I will give suggestions that retain that nature. Two immediate Weaknesses that threaten the Team greatly areHazrads, Stealth Rocks the most, as your 1/3 of your Team is hindered by them, and shared Weaknesses in Electric and Fire, two dominant Offensive STABs. Here is what I suggest improve your Team:

Kabutops > Crawdaunt

Kabutops @ Life Orb / Lum Berry
Trait: Weak Armor
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Aqua Jet
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin
- Swords Dance

Perhaps the best Offensive Spinner of the RU Tier, Kabutops retains the Offensive nature of the Team while also granting it an answer to Hazards in Rapid Spin allowing Moltres and other members to switch in with no worry. Swords Dance gives it the power to KO many Spin Blockers, allowing it to rain pain with it's Priority Utility and STAB Aqua Jet, and KO with Stone Edge as an alternate STAB.

i've applied the change but i've noticed a problem with my team. I can't touch dragon:/ what do you recommend i add/change?

I would suggest a mixed Electivire set to help with wallbreaking for your scyther and get rid of pesky tangrowths.
Electivire@ Life Orb
EVs: 144 Atk/ 140 Spa / 224 Spe
Naive Nature (+Spe, -SpD)
-Wild Charge
-Flamethrower
-Cross Chop
-Hidden Power Grass

Would help your team out a ton as well as being a good counter to many walls, and it is not another SR weak.

If you want more of a feeling of control, I'd say to throw a Xatu in there with magic bounce. It negates the need of a pokemon to set up stealth rock, if you play it correctly, and it provides the support your team needs.
Just a thought

Nice Team Cherpib, I agree with the change of Kabutops over Crawdaunt. It gives you a Spinner that is not weak to rock and it provides alot of offensive pressure. Have you tried Hp Ice on Manetric to hit dragons ,and if you add Cryogonal you really don't need Hp Ice or Kabutops because Cryogonal provides SE Stab to dragons and it can spin away hazards. Also, Scron Xatu is banned for RU because it is UU, so that is impossible.

Hope i Helped =)

Hi, really cool team but it does have some things that could be improved. Firstly hazard removal. This is crucial for both Moltres and Scyther. With that said I suggest using LO Kabutops > Crawdaunt. This change will let you gain a Spinner and a Entei check. Entei seems like a real threat to this team and Kabutops patches this up nicely. Next I suggest giving Manectric a Choice Scarf. With Choice Scarf Manectric becomes a solid revenge killer, revenging even the fastest threats like Omastar at +2, Ludicolo in Rain etc. Fighting-types look like a problem, especially Unburden Hitmonlee. The Fighting Gem set can tear you team apart. Stone Edge for Moltres and spam HJK. Thus I suggest using Choice Band Spiritomb > Rotom-C. With this change, you deal with almost every Fighting type in the tier. From Gallade to Hitmonlee. Due to its excellent typing its immune to fighting- and psychic-type attacks. Good Luck ~

I'm going to agree with Mylo and second the Kabutops and Manetric changes. Currently however your team does lack Stealth Rock which is pretty much the best move in the game because it cripples many powerful Flying types and doesn't allow and free switch-ins so I would like to suggest you replace Rotom-C with Stealth Rock Uxie, this would give you a SR user and as Mylo mentioned you're quite weak to Hitmonlee which Uxie also solves the problem of as well.

Summary of changes

Expert Belt Manetric --> Choice Scarf Manetric
Crawdaunt --> Swords Dance Kabutops
Rotom-C --> Support Uxie

Set(s)
Uxie @ Leftovers
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 152 Def / 104 Spd
Bold Nature (+Def, -Atk)
- Stealth Rock
- Psychic
- Thunder Wave
- U-turn

Thanks for the feedback, although, all things considered, I still can't touch Dragon poke's like Druddigon, which keeps popping up:/

I can see your problem with dragons since you dont have a single super effective move on them but honestly the most prevalent dragon I see in RU is druddigon (obviously) so I would only make a small change such as replacing a hp grass on your team with hp ice, I recommend manectric . (though I dont see why you need two hp grass users.)
