Here I wanna show you one of my relative successful OU teams.
I’m open to your comments and suggestions!
The idea of the team was, that it has very many support moves such as Heal Bell, Rapid Spin, Stealth Rock or Toxic Spikes. I always missed them in my other teams. Also it shouldn´t be too predictable in its starter pokemon.
Now I will just start with it:
Mew @ Leftovers
Trait: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Heal Bell
- Stealth Rock
- Roost
- Psychic
It has those support moves, and it can heal itself again very easily because of its very high special defense. The Psychic is just a stab move, but maybe I will change it into Aura Sphere or another less predictable move.
It is also a safe switch in.
Tentacruel @ Air Balloon
Trait: Liquid Ooze
EVs: 240 Def / 252 HP / 16 Spd
Bold Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- Rapid Spin
- Rain Dance
- Scald
Tentacruel is similar, three support moves and one stab move. I chose Scald because of the burn and many physical attackers, that are switching into it. The rain dance is for counter sun and sandstorm teams after killing their weather inducer. The Toxic Spikes are pretty cool for stalling with Mew or even Dragonite. Furthermore it is one of the fastest spinners. The balloon is because 4 of my team members have a weakness against ground. Although its ability looks strange at the first moment, it can be used for switching into a Leech Seed or even take a Giga Drain.
I also tried Roserade for the Spikes, but its too offensive for spiking in my opinion.
Dragonite @ Leftovers
Trait: Multiscale
EVs: 28 HP / 252 Atk / 228 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Fire Punch
- Roost
Dragonite is pretty good against defensive Pokemons, it can easily set up with 2+ Dragon Dances and then sweep through hole teams. The Speed is needed to beat scarved Garchomp and Salamence after two Dragon dances. Dragon Claw + Fire Punch are giving it a pretty good coverage.
Its ability is very good for switching it in.
Metagross @ Normal Gem
Trait: Clear Body
EVs: 216 Spd / 252 Atk / 40 HP
Jolly Nature
- Explosion
- Agility
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
Metagross is my physical tank and a good dragon counter. It also needs the speed to beat scarved Garchomp. I was really unsure about the damaging moves. I finally chose Explosion with the gem because of the immense power and you definitely kill a non-Steel/Rock/Ghost Pokemon with it.
Ice Punch is obviously because I use it as a Dragon(who doesn’t have Earthquake or are locked into another move) counter and earthquake because I need one in my team against some Pokemons like Heatran.
Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Trait: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
- Shadow Ball
Now I had two defensive and two setting up bulky attackers (you know what I mean).
Jolteon is one of two strong attackers. Its Volt Switches are perfect for revenge killing because of the STAB + Specs power and the fact that Jolteon doesn´t like to take hits. It is also a good starter, it OHKOs other popular starters like Azelf, Politoed or Ferrothorn.
Kyurem-Black @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Teravolt
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Outrage
- Stone Edge
- Fusion Bolt
- Shadow Claw
Last but not least, the Pokemon with the highest ATK and base stats in the OU metagame:
Kyurem-Black! Its Outrage is with overwhelming 170 Base ATK extreme strong.
Stone Edge is also good against Volcarona that could be a problem otherwise.
It is also a good revenge killer, but its weaknesses to the common first-priority-attacks aren´t that good.
Okay, that was it. I look forward for your comments, would you maybe change something?
Nexxus
edit 1: I changed Metagross to Skarmony as Scotti suggested (thanks to him for this tip;))
Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Trait: Keen Eye
EVs: 232 Def / 252 HP / 24 Spd
Impish Nature
- Roost
- Whirlwind
- Brave Bird
- Spikes
Then I realised, I need another switch in to special attacks because I really need the mew. So I changed the defensive weak Jolteon into a Latios.
Latios (M) @ Life Orb
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Psyshock
It has some helpful resisances(and also levitate), and its coverage is really good. Draco Meteor OHKOs many slower threads.
Because this team still seems not to be perfect I still would like YOU to rate it and say, what you personally would change.
