Damn. So much for that.
Still, though, the fact that they didn't give that Gabite any Dragon moves (instead opting to give it a move it's never been able to learn before- Rollout) does suggest that they're keeping something from us. I dunno about anyone else, but it seems a tad... deliberate. Almost as though they didn't want us to find out through the demo what happens when a Dragon move is used on a Fairy-type. Next month's CoroCoro is supposed to include an up-to-date type chart. Perhaps they're planning to make Fairy's immunity to Dragon some sort of big reveal or something? I dunno, just my opinion.

That would make sense. Would also explain the lack of poison or steel moves.

Besides nve against fire, did we discover anything else about fairy? Does it resist itself? (Vs dedenne)

I haven't heard anything thus far. We'd be able to verify Psychic's supposed resistance to Fairy, if only anyone playing the demo had the sense to use Sylveon's Fairy Wind against an Exeggutor.

Did anyone notice that Fennekin's Fire Spin damage every turn is a little more than the ones in BW/BW2. It used to be 1/16 damage per turn, but the some of the youtube videos on pikachu for example seem to do damage like 1/8 instead of 1/16 to me each turn.

While I do agree with most of these, hoping for moves to change is starting to get a bit wishlisty. Try to cool off on that, guys.

But the comment about Fire Spin is interesting. Anyone able to confirm?

Here is the video that I saw the Fire Spin effect in. It's a little hard to see.

And BTW Psybeam has the SAME sound effect from RBY just like Hyper Beam. I'm loving these throwbacks to Gen 1 xD.

Oh good lord. Psybeam with the Generation I sound effect. Massive nostalgiagasm right now.

YES. I completely agree that Hyper Beam and all variants should go back to having no recharge if they KO. Also, nice catch with Fire Spin! It's no Generation I Fire Spin, but it's an improement.

If they bring back Hypnosis's sound effect from RBY in X and Y. I will have a massive nostalgiafangasm...

Hyper Beam not recharging if it KO's the opponent? No! Just no! That's one of the many problems with the Gen 1 games. Spam Hyper Beam and Earthquake and you win pretty much every single time.

It's not happening guys.

We never said it was happening. And besides, hyper beam and it's variants were created to be the most powerful moves. They ought to be represented that way. And yes I know that Porygon Z Specs adaptability can abuse the hell out of this. There can certainly be ways to get around this, but it has to better than what it is, now.

So about Fire Spin doing 1/8 damage each turn...I wonder how much it'll do with the Binding Band?
If it still doubles, Fire Spin and its clones could actually be very useful. Fire Spin a switch in, then use protect and they are less than 50% HP without any hazards.
Politoed, Ninetales, and Hippowdon all get access to a partial trapping move and would love 50+% dmg and trapping done to switch ins while running a bulky set. Weather wars getting intense
Edit:Whirlpool is illegal with Drizzle, sorry Politoed

Wrap Shuckle may actually see some play now, or Sand Tomb pokemon...interesting.

Whirlpool+Sub+Protect Starmie=66.67%-83.3% damage guaranteed if it still lasts 4-5 turns, Binding Band does 1/6 per turn and Starmie outspeeds.
Add in the damage done by Whirlpool and hazards plus the fact that you can use a Hydro Pump when Whirpool runs out and have fun.
Yayy theorymon!

Edit: I fully expect GameFreak to do a straight upgrade with no downsides to partial trapping moves as they have every generation. They've bumped accuracy, base power, duration and given items to increase effectiveness. They desperately want these moves to be competitive.

Has anyone even considered that Fennekin is already holding a binding band? Or that the super effectiveness against Chespin is coming into play?

I suspect if they up the power per turn it has some other downside (re-lowered accuracy, max turns lowered, etc)

Fennekin is not holding any items if you check the screen that shows up when you press "pokemon" to switch pokemon. I don't know about super effective, but watch the battle with fennekin and pikachu.

The Gabite's moveset is Sand Tomb, Rollout, Take Down, and Slash.
AAAAUGH! GAMEFREAK!! >_<
They are trying TOO hard to hide this shit...FAIRY'S GOTTA BE IMMUNE IF THEIR GOING THIS HARD!!
Remember how LONG they took to reveal Sylveon's type? It's the same shit all over again!
UGH I CAN'T STAND THIS WAITING!!
*goes and rematches exhibition match*

When Fennekin firespun, it said the move was super effective, and the move dealt double the damage. It seems pretty obvious type effectivenessess are now factored into trapping moves.
