The team name is based off the Rolling Stones song Gimme Shelter which is my favorite song by them, and every opponent of the team needs shelter from them hazards and Don Lino so heed the warning.
This is a team that I put the core pieces of together within a few minutes but the tweaking of it is what made it as much fun as it was using the team because I went through a lot of poke's to get just the right balance. As does every team this team has it's weaknesses, but I feel as if I have covered as many common UU team weaknesses as possible with my current choice of poke's.
TEAM AT A GLANCE:
The team's objective is to set-up hazards, break down the few poke's that stop Sharpedo from tearing the opponent's team a new one, and from there on that's what Don Lino the Sharpedo does.
Gligar @ Eviolite
Trait: Immunity
Impish Nature (+Def -SpA)
EV's: 252 Hp/252 Def/4 Spe
- Earthquake
- Roost
- Stealth Rock
- Toxic
Gligar has been my favorite physical wall in UU for a while now and it's for good reason, it completely walls Heracross that isn't the SD set but even then Gligar can outstall it with some prior hazards or it can be revenge killed if necessary. Gligar does a great job walling pretty much every common physical attacker in the tier while being able to set up rocks and spread around some toxic to the bulky waters and spinners that tend to switch in on the tiny bat.
Cofagrigus @ Leftovers
Trait: Mummy
Quiet Nature (+SpA -Spe)
EV's: 252 Hp/252 SpA/4 SpD
- Shadow Ball
- Trick Room
- Hidden Power Fighting
- Nasty Plot
Out of all UU pokemon offensive trick room Cofagrigus has surprised me the most, it can tear huge hole's in unprepared teams and truly not many have good counters to it or keep their counters around long enough to stop the evil coffin. I rely on it to spin block mostly as that's more important to my team's success than a sweep but don't tempt it cause it's more then capable of a sweep provided solid checks like Snorlax, Porygon2 and Umbreon are removed.
Roserade @ Black Sludge
Trait: Natural Cure
Calm Nature (+SpD -Atk)
EV's: 252 Hp/236 SpD/20 Spe
- Giga Drain
- Spikes
- Sludge Bomb
- Rest
Roserade is an extremely important part of the team, it sets up spikes, walls and forces many common UU poke's to switch such as Swampert, Rhyperior, Virizion and bulky water's but must be wary of earthquakes and stone edges. These necessary switches rack up hazards damage and the common UU spinners such as Hitmontop, Blastoise and Claydol can't take it on 1v1 so I don't have to rely on Cofagrigus to stop my hazards from being spun away. They can spin hazards away but they are outsped by Roserade and are all 2hko'd with minimal hazards so upon dealing with them Roserade is free to set up again without worry of it being a wasted effort or rest off the damage and switch.
Emboar @ Choice Scarf
Trait: Blaze
Jolly Nature (+Spe -SpA)
EV's: 252 Atk/252 Spe/4 SpD
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Wild Charge
- Sleep Talk
The beast from RU, I don't know why things like Arcanine, Victini and Darmanitan are used over it so often, I've used all of them on this team and none of them proved to be as useful as Emboar. It's dual typing is amazing and isn't completely raped by stealth rock's which is a blessing considering I don't run a spinner, and it has Sleep Talk to help my overall Roserade weakness a little bit if I happen to switch in on Sleep Powder. This is basically the only poke on the team I feel could be replaced without having a huge effect on the team overall.
Snorlax @ Leftovers
Trait: Thick Fat
Careful Nature (+SpD -SpA)
EV's: 144 Hp/188 Def/168 SpD/8 Spe
- Body Slam
- Rest
- Whirlwind
- Sleep Talk
Snorlax is my special wall, phazer and status spreader all in one. I couldn't ask for more, if the opposing poke is a special attacker Snorlax can usually wall it and either body slam it's way to victory or phaze out the attacker if it's something threatening. I can't count the number of times my opponent will be down to 2-3 special attackers and they can't break Snorlax even with critical hits. The only weaknesses Snorlax has are physical attackers and being tricked which can be played around accordingly, even being tricked a scarf from Chandelure isn't completely as tragic as it is tricking it to say Porygon2 or Umbreon because with hazards Chandelure is easily beatable with whirlwind alone and Snorlax can go wild with the Whirlwind's until he succumbs to multiple blows. EV's are basic but 8 Speed EV's so that I don't lose to banded Snorlax which has happened once previously and it wasn't pretty.
Sharpedo @ Life Orb
Trait: Speed Boost
Modest Nature (+SpA -Atk)
EV's: 252 SpA/252 Spe/4 SpD
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Dark Pulse
- Protect
Don Lino the Sharpedo AKA the Boss, if the rules of the RMT weren't 3 lines per poke, nothing else besides his name would need to be said. Don Lino is in my opinion the best late game sweeper in the tier once it's counters are gone. Many people opt for the physical set because of Sharpedo's base 120 attack stat as opposed to it's base 95 special attack, but what many forget is the surprise factor and the fact Intimidate users and common counters are dealt with much easier with this set, and hydro pump's 120 base power with STAB is much better than waterfall's 80 base power. The main problem's for Don Lino are Empoleon (Damn Penguin), Snorlax, Umbreon and Porygon 2. All of these poke's share common weaknesses which can be exploited and must be dealt with before Don Lino decides it's time to sweep.
That's the team, there isn't much I can complain about besides a lot of my poke's being taunt bait and if the opponent has multiple checks to Sharpedo (such as Empoleon + Snorlax etc.) then it can be a shit show sacrificing things left and right to take them out or weaken them to the point Don Lino can finish them and hopefully the rest of the opposing team off.
