I'm assuming nintendo and gamefreak just look at sales for merchandise and stuff.Who exactly decides the popularity of pokemon? :3

They are really realllllly not....is this sarcasm?
Last I checked Mawile and Absol are preeetty popular
So do we have any actual proof of Mega Aggron and Tyranitar other than the balloons? I mean, any mega stones or anything?
Just want to make sure I'm not getting hyped up over some over-stylized balloon.
Mega Tyranitar confirmed

Steel/Dark
He's...joking...Seems fake since... that doesn't match the model seen in the Super Training shot:

Mawile and Absol are fairly popular among a lot of my friends. Though I see your point. They are really realllllly not.
Before now Mawile was a weak underused pokemon rarely found anywhere. Absol is slightly less extreme.
Do they have fans? Of course! All pokemon have fans.
But would you seriously call them popular among people? In general? Near the same level as starters, various "cooler" Pokemon (particularily from the height of its popularity) like Gyarados, legendaries, or shoot even the inexplicable popularity of Stunfisk in Japan (now there's a mega evolution that should happen).
Popular enough that gamefreak was looking through pokemon, saw Mawile vs I don't know... how about Weavile and decided the former was more popular?
e: Wait Zoroark is a better example let's go with that
You haven't played Pokestar Studios much, have you?Seems fake since... that doesn't match the model seen in the Super Training shot:

im positive meddle isn't being serious.
Especially when they just so happen to learn these moves at the same level at which point they seem to evolve...I believe, anywayHeh. This is what the thread has devolved into.
Re: Clauncher evolution - it's most definitely an evolve-by-known-move 'mon. Not sure if it was Crabhammer (that seems right?) but Clauncher's analogue in Y is Skrelp and I highly doubt they wouldn't share evolution methods.
I think Aggron's popularity primarily stems from this:Ah yes super popular pokemon Aggron
at the top of everyone's popularity list, right alongside Mawile, Ampharos and Absol
Can't say I've ever seen this beforeI think Aggron's popularity primarily stems from this:

There is one for Haxorus and maybe Garchomp (I can't remember), but the most famous and first one was Aggron.
I like how Mega Macy's Day Paraditar seems like it's just wearing a Pupitar on its chest. We need more Mevos that armament themselves with their young. If Mega SlowBro is a thing, it needs to have full Shellder armor and swing an actual Slowpoke around like a flail.
Doubt they would do a redesign of Tyranitar just to be a balloon. Unless those images are fake, which I doubt at this point, safe to say Tyranitar gets a mega, and I'm loving every moment of it.Guy are we sure that they're mega evos? In the corner it says tyranitar balloon not mega tyranitar. Are there any pics of confirmed mega evo balloons so we can see if they say the name only or mega name?

Farfetch'd is also cited as wanting evolutionsI don't know what to say, other than in my time on the internet Mawile and Absol seem to be among Pokemon that a significant number of people really like, and also often see cited as Pokemon that deserve evolutions. Maybe not on the level of Gyarados and Charizard, or Aggron for that matter, but certainly up there in my opinion.
It's one of the things which has always confounded me about pokemon fans, since I personally care for neither.
Don't forget that when a Pokemon mega evolves, it doesn't say Mega Lucario or whatever. It's still Lucario.Guy are we sure that they're mega evos? In the corner it says tyranitar balloon not mega tyranitar. Are there any pics of confirmed mega evo balloons so we can see if they say the name only or mega name?
