if t tar became a steel type he would get owned by mega charizard Y, i dont see him losing his rock typing and sandstorm as an upgrade

Granted he would still have his beloved Stone Edge. And he can always switch out if he's fearing the KO from a Mega-Charizard.

To me it just seems to open up more use for Heatran on a sand team.

Something that's interesting to me are the physical/special defensive stats of new Pokemon this gen. Go look at the defenses of Gen 5 Pokemon and you'll see tons of them have exactly identical defenses (Scrafty, Serperior, Hydreigon, etc). This Gen, there's a lot more variation:

Chesnaught: 120/70 (Def/SpDef)

Delphox: 70-80/95-100

Florges: 56-73/140-157

Gourgeist: 120/75

Malamar: 90/60

Dragalge: 82-97/123-139

Heliolisk: 50/100

Tyrantrum: 120/60

Goodra: 75-85/135-150

These stats reward you for attacking with the appropriate type of move, and I like that extra bit of strategy! I think GameFreak did a good job with the new Pokemon.

Shroomisaur that just encourages more mons to go mixed since mons that specialize in one defensive stat tend to not do so well if hit by their weaker defensive stat. Overall it's not too big of a deal. It's probably better to have more mons like jelli/ferro with relatively equal defenses in both stats than excelling in one. I like how this gen got more defensive than 5th gen was at a glance.

this is from several pages back but it doesn't look like anyone calced this sooooo..... i'm getting

HP: 90
Atk: 132 (+40 compared to regular)
Def: 105 (+30)
Sp. Atk: 132 (+40)
Sp. Def: 105 (+20)
Spe: 30 (-30)

Mega Yeti was already covered in here: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pokémon-xy-data-collection.3489182/

Honestly, for anyone wanting to know the base stats of a new/mega Pokemon the easiest thing to do is check the data collection thread first. It is regularly updated with known information.

I think it is important to encourage mixed mons. If all mons had equal defensive stats, there would be no reason to go mixed at all and every pokemon would dump EVs and natures into just one stat. Being a mixed attacker mon would be a hindrance because those stat points would be better in Speed or HP. Since Gamefreak continues to make mons with mixed attacking stats, I'm glad to see other Pokemon with mixed defenses - it actually allows them to have an advantage over a purely physical/special attacker. Not to mention it encourages mixed team-building as well!

I agree that after Gen 5, it's nice to see the more defensive/balanced Pokemon of X and Y. Under 48 hours away!

Probably because IV are now automatically maxed out in wifi battles. They don't want people to spend hours on breeding anymore. Fighting simulators.

Is this seriously confirmed? That would be an incredible improvement - no more tedious hours of breeding (I doubt this is real)

EDIT: also, how would the Hidden Power typing work with auto-maxed IVs? do they stay the same and run off the real ones?

It was one of the first leaks. Showing wifi battle options if I'm not mistaken

Yes, I mean, they just made it base 60 because now IV change when you enter a wifi battle.
And what I meant was that they may've just simply locked the base power at 60 with no strings attached, strings such as IVs changing (which I've never heard of in any leak/news/anything either)

lol "thanks" but i did check that thread first. as far as i can tell, the spread in the data collection thread was an estimation added when we just had a screenshot of a mega aboma, so it likely wasn't completely accurate due to random evs/ivs. now we have screenshots of both an aboma and its mega evolution from the same battle to allow for more accurate bst calculations. after double checking my numbers, i am 99% certain the spread i just posted is correct.

now that you mention it though, i probably should go post this in the data collection thread lol.

Have all of the mega stones be found? Seems it's been forever since a new mega has been revealed. Can't see Dragonite, Salamence, or Haxorus having one at this point...

EDIT: Also, are the calculations on the XY Data-Collection page 100% accurate or just estimations?

I don't think that all Mega Stones can be found in game.
They're probably saving them for events, tournaments and GTS minigames (DW-like).

Blazikenite can't be obtained in game.
I bet it's the same for every other starters.

We'll need to wait for GTS hacks or data mining. It's even possible we have 100+ megas
