Popcorn and Pizza

Introduction:
Welcome to my fourth RMT smogon! I'm Brawlfest, and this is my second NU RMT, with a team created near the end of 5th generation. It carries a few standard sets, in unison with a few underrated and overlooked sets, especially scarf Tauros, which this team was built around. Unexpected and powerful, even adamant scarf tauros outspeeds base 95 speed scarfers, which helps be smack Primeape and Jynx in the face, as all they can do is watch, stunned and emotionless. I've had quite a bit of fun with this team, and I'm excited to see what will happen to it as 6th generation begins to cause the NU tier to adapt. So without further ado, here is the team!

Ballet

Gardevoir (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 HP
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Thunderbolt
- Signal Beam
- Destiny Bond

Ballet is our primary win condition after our Scarfed Bull. With an amazing special attack, respectable speed, and the best ability in the game, Gardevoir helps our team open holes it normally couldn't dream of doing. While Eelektross often forces Alomomola to switch out, most people don't see Gardevoir as an immediate threat to it, allowing me to smoothly OHKO it with a thunderbolt. Gardevoir also helps me check Ludicolo, one of the most threatening and awesome sweepers in the game, by copying it's Swift Swim, and then firing off either a Signal Beam or Psychic. Psychic off of Gardevoir hits all neutral pokemon like a bomb, and really just destroys anything in it's path. Finally, our Gardevoir also carries destiny bond. Even though Smogon recommends it, it still appears that many of the players in NU are unaware of Gardevoir being able to carry such a move, allowing me to take down anything cocky enough to hit Gardevoir with an attack.

Sawk @ Choice Band
Ability: Mold Breaker
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch / Knock Off
- Stone Edge

Sawk, a pokemon that my NU teams have a hard time living without. Sawk is a true monster, in it's scarfed and banded variants. While I am one to always prefer the scarfed variant, this team benefits far more from the immediate power that the Banded variant has access to. Allowing me to demolish just about any pokemon who pisses me off, Sawk is my main way to open holes for my other pokemon to do their job. In fact, it's a very threatening sweeper on it's own, becoming a broom immediately after quicker threats are removed. The moveset is very standard, utilizing Close Combat as the primary STAB of choice, along with Earthquake, Ice Punch, and Stone Edge for Coverage. Knock Off however, is a move I sometimes run as a trick up my sleeve. Most pokemon facing Sawk as an immediate threat will switch out to their walls who will attempt to tank the hit. Instead, things like Misdreavus, Alomomola, and Tangela, loose the Item which makes them useful, and immediately become a liability to the opponent's team rather than a threat to mine.

Dream Web
type_ghost.gif

Dream Web (Misdreavus) (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 172 Def / 84 Spd
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Shadow Ball
- Will-O-Wisp
- Taunt
- Pain Split

Misdreavus is a monster. Every NU player has heard stories of it destroying every physical threats, and tremble at the sight of it. With the introduction of Eviolite in 5th gen, missy became the physical shut down of choice to the NU tier, and makes up the first half of this team's defensive core. Shadow Ball means that our Dream Web isn't complete taunt bait. Taunt can shut down walls, and in unison with Will-O-Wisp completely shuts down physical attackers and walls. Finally Pain Split allows for a semi-reliable form of recovery, as well as allowing our dreams to stay around forever. Although unevolved, Misdreavus is easily one of the best pokemon in the NU tier. Amazing bulk, high speed, decent special attack, and an amazing support moveset make it the top choice of many teams, and this is no exception.

The Bully
type_normal.gif

Tauros @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Adamant/Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit

Hide your motherfucking children. This bull isn't playing games. He will bully them until they cry, and then trample them until they stop. Tauros is the most underestimated normal type in the metagame, often cast in the shadow of Kangaskhan and Swellow. Well fuck them. Tauros is the best. With a choice scarf, it becomes one of the fastest pokemon in the NU tier, outclassing other common scarfers, such as Primeape, Jynx, and Electabuzz. Hell, this thing has the balls to go one on one with a Ninjask. An element of surprise really helps Tauros become an efficient, effective scarfer. Rather than having to switch it in on a primeape, most people will bring their Primeapes onto it, expecting to unleash a wave of Close Combats, only to be Double Edged to oblivion. This allows it to become an absolute threat for those unprepared to deal with a scarfed Tauros. The set is simple. Intimidate forces switches that Tauros normally can't. Outside of that, Double Edge is your primary attack and STAB, dealing massive damage to the majority of the NU tier. Earthquake covers those pesky Steel and Rock types, hitting them hard and destroying their lives. Stone Edge enables us to have a decent way albeit unreliable, to hit Drifblim and Haunter. Finally, Pursuit allows me to make sure that I can revenge kill without worrying about a switch. Nothings living. Everything's dying. Just quit. Tauros is coming to destroy everything you love.

Eelektross (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SAtk / 132 HP / 124 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Giga Drain
- Flamethrower

I used this Eelektross set in my last RMT, and I'm using it again. Eelektross is a beast. An electric pokemon with levitate is the most broken shit in the universe. It is the last member of my teams offensive core, perfecting the coverage my team has. No other electric pokemon in the entire game is so versatile, which plays massively into Eelektross's favor. Being able to keep the opponent guessing, whether it is a MixTross, DefensiveTross, or pure Special always allows for a surprise. While Eelektross does have superior physical attack, this set is much more effective. Unlike Drain Punch and U-Turn, Flamethrower and Giga Drain accompany Eelektross's STAB perfectly. Flamethrower hits cocky Grass types, attempting to take my Thunderbolts, and Giga Drain not only helps me decimate ground types, but also gives me a little extra recovery in tight situations, and often gives me the advantage. Eelektross is often in the shadow of Specs Ampharos in terms of power, Electabuzz in terms of speed, and the "Chu" family for versatility. But Eelektross's jack of all traits personality makes it the most threatning electric pokemon in the entire metagame, taking hits for the team, and dishing out even harder ones.

Probopass (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Magnet Pull
EVs: 200 HP / 252 SAtk / 56 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Power Gem
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Volt Switch

Probopass is the best stealth rocker in the metagame outright. It provides this team with not only a solid, but a 100% outright counter to most normal types, taking Swellow and Braviary without Superpower on without breaking a sweat. Probopass is one of my absolute favorite pokemon. While looking quirky, it proves it's worth on the battlefield. It gives my team also a very, very bulky pivot, allowing me to gain slow steady momentum, in order for me to always bring in the correct check or counter to anything the opponent want's to throw at me. Although it isn't known for it's offenses, Probopass is often my win condition due to it's ability to wall an opponent's entire team, and dishing out steady, respectable damage with a stab Power Gem. Earth Power in unison with Magnet Pull also allows me to decimate other rare Steel types in NU, making sure that they don't get to wall my rather offensive team, who may have issues with them outside of Sawk and Eelektross. With Probopass around, the weight on their shoulders can be loosened. While Probopass may look like it serves comedic relief, the only person who will end up laughing is you, as your opponent will be attempting to jump off a cliff in sadness.

Thank you for reading my RMT, if you have any suggestions please comment below!

water-types such as samurott, ludicolo, or even simipour destroy this team since none of your pokemon can tank a hydro pump. change gardevoir to a LO 3 attack jynx which accomplishes pretty much the same thing as it

Hey man! I actually used to have a jynx in this place. My main issue is that Jynx doesn't carry any electric moves outside of HP Electric, which is big for me as it's my one way to destroy Alomomola without it eagerly wanting to switch out. Lovely Kiss, while can easily shut down an opponent's pokemon and requires little to no prediction and is thus very versatile, is often too unreliable and often changes the outcome of the game based on a single miss. It is also very predictable coming off of a jynx, which is one thing that Destiny Bond has going for it, which is the element of surprise.

Outside of this, I will be sure to test Jynx, thank you for the input! :)

Minor nitpick, but I wouldn't suggest running Retaliate on Scarf Tauros. The damage advantage over Double Edge is minimal, and it's an awful move to be locked into- as a Scarfed normal, it'll already be doing a lot of switching in and out, which Retaliate only exacerbates. It also doesn't obtain any notable KOs over Double Edge to my knowledge, though I'm not positive.

In its place, you could consider running either of Pursuit or Toxic. Pursuit lets you eliminate stuff like Jynx or Haunter much more easily, which is excellent if you're using him as a revenge killer- eliminating Haunter in particular is helpful since he'd otherwise be able to stop any attempt at sweeping. Alternatively, you can use Toxic if you predict a switch to something like Alomomola or Golurk who you otherwise can't touch. Naturally, you're forced to switch out immediately afterwards, but that would be the case anyways.

Hey Brawlfest ,

I noticed your team is a bit weak to CM Mushy, since it can pretty easily nab boosts against the majority of your team and start plowing through your team. Your two best ways of dealing with it--Gardevoir and Missy--can be worn down pretty quickly b/c of the lack of recovery. I would suggest replacing Sawk with Skuntank, which not only provides you a much-needed counter to Mush, but a priority move in Sucker Punch, which this team currently lacks. Additionally, it gives you a Toxic Spikes absorber, which can also give your team some major problems if set up.

That said, by losing Sawk you lose your powerful physical attacker, meaning special walls such as Lickilicky and Probopass can annoy this team. To deal with this, changing your Eelektross to the mixed Eebeltross set gives you an excellent lure for these walls, letting you lure them in with Thunderbolt and crush them with a Superpower. You don't really need Volt Switch anyway since you already have a slow pivot in Probopass, so Eebeltross would generally serve more utility.

Good luck, and I hope I helped.

Skuntank @ Black Sludge / Lum Berry
Trait: Aftermath
EVs: 252 Atk / 176 SDef / 80 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Sucker Punch

- Poison Jab / Crunch
- Taunt

Eelektross @ Expert Belt
Trait: Levitate
EVs: 140 Atk / 244 SAtk / 128 Spd
Mild Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Superpower
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain

Hey blast! I've noticed a problem with CM Mushy too, while in the past I have been able to beat it out with a bit of prediction, I do agree that skuntank will loosen the weight by a lot. However, losing the immediate firepower that sawk carries could be a downer. I will definitely look into the change, adding it to my testing team along with the Jynx previously suggested by FLCL. Thank you for your suggestions! I will definitely look forward to testing the sets out to look at how it's success fairs! :)

*Edit*
Jynx and Skuntank are working wonders, but I'm not sure can replace Gardevoir and Sawk. I'm having a hard time accepting the loss of the immediate power that they brought. Still unsure. :(

Well, how about you run either sub on the set or the best Jynx set ever? It is really, really good and destroys lives (and big pink fish). From my RMT:

124.gif

Jynx @ Leftovers
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Ice Beam
- Substitute
- Lovely Kiss
- Nasty Plot

This set may look kind of weird. Jynx is commonly seen running a choice scarf or life orb, those set's focus on doing direct damage. I prefer this set. It works as following:
You put the opposing mon to sleep. Next turn you use Substitute. If the opponent's mon makes up you repeat. If you manage to get a free turn you can go for a Nasty Plot. Eventually you can kill basicly everything. Just get her in on a slower mon, preferably a wall because it will most likely try to Paralyze/Toxic you. If you have something to get up to +4 behind a Sub you basicly won unless the opponent has Priority+Something faster.

Well, how about you run either sub on the set or the best Jynx set ever? It is really, really good and destroys lives (and big pink fish). From my RMT:
One huge issue I have with Jynx in general is that while it checks water types, it has no way to kill them. Gardevoir's use of Thunderbolt allows it to decimate things that immediatly threaten my team such as Samurott and Alomomola. However, Jynx is very useful, an I thank you! :)

i don't actually get why people are suggesting to switch to jynx. yes, jynx is very good, and probably the best pokemon in the tier, but gardevoir and jynx perform very different roles. gardevoir is a lot more bulkier in general and gets thunderbolt, which sets it extremely apart from jynx.

i do agree, though, that the biggest problem to this team is strong water-types. however, i'm not extremely sure what to replace and what to replace it with. i guess sawk could probably be replaced (since it's the weakest link on the team imo) with specially defensive ludicolo but eh. i like this team the way it is, and i'm not sure if you'd really want to replace a member just to be able to tank strong water moves when you could just sac something and force pressure with gardevoir.

Ludicolo @ Leftovers
Ability: Rain Dish
EVs: 248 HP / 200 SDef / 60 Spe
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Giga Drain
- Synthesis / Protect
- Leech Seed / Rain Dance

obv don't run synthesis + rain dance. set checks all special waters like samurott and gorebyss. you could probably even run sub to fuck with alomomola.

But doesnt Eelektross deal with waters such as Samurott and Alomomola (it does get ohko'd by Ludicolo's Hydro Pump in rain im prettu sure)? I suggested "my" Jynx because you said Alomomola and nobody will prevent you from using Thunderbolt over Focus Blast on Life Orb Jynx.

Eelektross forces alomomola to switch out though, and same with other waters. Thank you for the suggestion, but I'm really not feeling Jynx. I also feel that while Destiny Bond is a lot more Gimmicky, its also a lot more reliable than Lovely Kiss.

Hey man thank you for the rate! I like Ludicolo. A lot. My 4th favorite pokemon ever. But I am not 100% sure I want to lose my wallbreaker for it. I will have to do some testing and report back later! Thanks for the rate man, appreciate it!
