Tournament Team

XY Pre-Pokebank Tournament Team

Introduction
So I'm kinda new to this competitive pokemon, so new I'd say I'm a n00b.
This is the team I used in the last tournament at my locals. I can't remember off the top of my head but I got around 9th-10th out of 20 people.

I don't really have a general strategy when it comes to this team, I pretty much go with what my gut tells me
I'm hoping that I may be able to get a little help and maybe become a little bit better at this.

EDIT:Updated with my new team.
Also shout out to Sullyzoz and BadPandaPancham for helping me out with this team. With the team itself and Movesets.
Added Replays.

Team

tyranitar.jpg

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 76 HP / 252 Atk / 180 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance

Thought I'd give the Jolly D/Dance TTar a try since it got a mega instead of the normal Adamant Choice banded one I used back in B/W2.
I can't really say all that much about the moveset as for most of it is very standard. Crunch/Stone Edge being the STAB moves, with Earthquke to cover what Crunch and SE can't with Dragon Dance for upped Attack and Speed. Overall the MEGA and Wall/Sweeper for this team

excadrill.jpg

Excadrill @ Air Balloon
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Rapid Spin

The Rapid Spinner for my team, who also partners well with Talonflame. Earthquake is just crazy good. Rock Slide provides awesome coverage with Earthquake and Swords dance just for the extra boost if I can go for it.
Excadrill has to be the most offensive spinner in the game, not to mention its Speed and the switches it forces make it a fairly effective user of Rapid Spin, Air Balloon gives you more opportunities to switch in, and stops stuff from smashing you with Earthquake. His primary roll is Rapid spinning away the hazards.

talonflame.jpg

Talonflame @ Leftovers/stritus berry
Ability: Gale Wing
EVs: 4HP / 252Atk / 252 speed
Adamant Nature
- Bulk-Up
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

I was using Volcarona before but someone suggested to use Talonflame since the weather moves got nurfed this Generation Pretty much a standard list for Talonflame. Other then that I really don't know what else to say about it that wouldn't be repeating what you already know besides its a psychical sweeper for the team. also thanks to BadPandaPancham for the moveset and EV spread.

aegislash-blade.jpg

Aegislash @ Leftovers/Air Balloon
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- King's Shield
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak

From what I have seen this is pretty much a standard moveset for Aegislash.
All round I think hes a great Gen 6 Pokemon that can be one awesome sweeper,
not really much I can say about it that you don't already know besides that it is a Wall/Sweeper for this team.

rotom-wash.jpg

Rotom-W @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 28 SpA / 232 Sp Defense
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Volt Swtich
- Substitute/Protect
- Will-O-Wisp

I did run Jellicent but since I can't get Jellicent atm cause the bank isn't up I decided to go with the Bulky Rotom. Hydro Pump is obvious, it hits like a truck and provides useful coverage. Volt Switch is a STAB special U-turn used for scouting. Can't decide whether I should go Substitute or Protect since I'm led to believe Pain Split is not currently available in Gen 6. Will-O-Wisp burns whatever it hits.

ferrothorn.jpg

Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Brabs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature
-Power Whip/Spikes
-Gyro Ball
-Leech Seed
-Stealth Rock

This guy is my Fairy check I guess. This is also a moveset I found on Serebii that I really liked. Power Whip acts as primary STAB, hitting most everything weak to it for high damage, also considering spikes since I have access to it. Gyro Ball is another STAB option that hits faster Pokemon for extreme damage and is a good answer to the new Fairys running about. Leech Seed to regenerate health and Stealth Rock is just all round a good hazard move.

Closing Statment
Please keep in mind I am a complete n00b when it comes to this kind of thing. Any constructive advice would be a great help. Once again Special thanks to Sullyzoz and BadPandaPancham for helping me out with this team.

Thanks in advance

Not sure why your ttar is choiced; in fact, I'm not exactly why you have ttar on your team at all. Volcarona doesn't particularly like the sand, it doesn't exactly synergize well with any of your teammates. If you want to keep ttar, I suggest switching to an assault vest set, or putting some pokemon on your team that like the sand, like excadrill or garchomp.
Secondly, you only need spin support because of volcarona, but is it really worth wasting your mega slight for a rapidspinner? Why not put khangaskhan/mega mawile/mega garchomp on your team and switch ferrothorn with forretress.
If you go the ttar+mega garchomp route, I suggest taking off volcarona. It's not exactly helping you and the sand messes up its sweep.
Additionally, I don't have the slightest clue why you have protect on volcarona. And gengar is so fast I have no idea why you think he needs a choice scarf.

i have some suggestions for you;

(Option 1)

Tyranitar is not completely unsynergetic with your team as blue cheez suggested, he synergises well with aegislash against everything minus EQ. He does however damage 3 pokemon on your team passively with sand storm, and benefitting none. Volcarona in particular who is taking life orb damage and worrying about stealth rocks cannot really afford it (Remove protect, it's a waste of a move slot). If you choose to switch him (tyranitar) out, i would reccomend putting in something that can atleast check talon flame, because without him, if your blastoise has taken prior damage, talon flame will sweep your whole team with priority brave bird. Things you could consider replacing him with are garchomp, dragonite and rotom-w.

(Option 2)
Speaking of talonflame, he is the dominant of the 3 strongest fire type sweepers (Talonflame/Blaziken/volcarona) and you could use him over volcarona, keeping tyranitar and run excadrill with air balloon/leftovers and mold breaker as your spinner. Talonflame/excadrill is a very good combo and i think would go well with your team. This also frees up your mega slot, so you can wreck faces with mega tyranitar. With shadow sneak and priority brave bird you have enough revenge killing, so you could potentially switch out gengar for pysically defensive rotom-w, which would be a good answer to annoying azumaril aqua jetting your talonflame. So something like: (Tyranitar/Excadrill/Talon Flame/Aegislash/Rotom-w/Ferrothorn)

(side notes)
Air balloon Aegislash seems to be kind of anti meta right now, it messes with excadrill, garchomp and a whole lot more that would usuallly cause it issues, so it might be worth considering in any scenario you choose to go with.

I realize the second option kind of remakes a lot of your team, if you want further tips, i will check back here later so post and i will do my best to help :) good luck and happy stomping!

EDIT: Didn't notice before, drop poison jab from your ferrothorn, it's useless. Something like Gyro Ball/Powerwhip/Leech Seed/Stealth rock would serve you better

I like this idea however I cannot use Excadrill. The store that runs the tournaments has banned Excadrill. The other rules can be seen here
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BzY5wGA4e0s7VFFpTVc0d2JmQVU/edit?usp=sharing (I think my mate is right and thy have just copy and pasted different rules from different tiers together)
Any other choices besides Excadrill?

EDIT: If I did decided to replace Tyranitar which would you think is better?

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide

Dragonite @ Leftovers or Lum Berry
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw / Outrage
-Fire Punch
-Earthquake

well damn that sucks. excadrill isn't even that big a threat, and a lot of those pokes on the ban list can't even be gotten yet, the organizers are newbies? :P Okay well i'll try to help you anyways.

A different direction you could go in is building a team like this one: http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/pre-bank-ou-the-beginners-team.3492827/ It's another RMT that has some simmilarity to urs, and doesn't use a spinner, and has charizard X over volcarona or talon flame. Personally i wouldnt use talon flame without excadrill. While i suppose mega blastoise might work, i don't like the idea of giving up a mega just to guarantee you can spin, and other options like tentacruel or starmie i don't think would work very well on your team (well tentacruel wouldnt be terrible, but it lacks a punch and gets walled easily.) That poster has a team like (Crobat/Mega Charizard X/Ferrothorn/Aegislash/Azumaril/Goodra) Which seems pretty solid. Im really tired atm lol, so i'm gonna leave it here, but i may be on again in the next few days, cheers :)

EDIT: On your edit for Garchomp or Dragonite, i have a preferance for Garchomp myself, as dragonite doesnt have access to extreme speed yet. For a set on him my favorite is (Sub/SD/EQ/D Claw) with jolly max atk and speed.

1st off: I'll say they are newbies cause they only started hosting them with the release of XY. It'll probably be like vanguard and they'll stop hosting them when all the hype dies down.
I'll have a look at this other team and see what I muster up with it.
Thanks for the help :)

the advantage of excadrill as a spinner is it takes care of rotom-w,aegislash and stealth rocks, 3 of talon flames biggest banes. Forretress isn't as efficient in this regard.

I agree with Sullyzoz, Talonflame and Excadrill make a great core. You can run some of the popular Talonflame sets:

Talonflame @ Choice Band/Life Orb
EVs: 252 Att, 252 Spe, 4 HP
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- U-Turn
- Steel Wing/Quick Attack

or

Talonflame @Leftovers/Flying Gem
EVs: 252 HP, 252 Spe, 4 Att
Adamant Nature
- Bulk-Up
- Brave Bird/Acrobatics
- Flare Blitz
- Roost

Either/or will work well with Excadrill on back-up.

I know how great Excadrill is but until my locals stops using the B2/W2 Ubers banlist I cannot use him. Don't get me wrong I think Excadrill is an AWESOME Pokemon and if I could I would run him.
However I do like those Talonflame sets
