[QC READY 0/3] Hawlucha

701.png

<ul>
<li>It has excellent Speed stat.(highest between all the fight types)</li>
<li>It has decent Attack stat.</li>
<li>It has access to powerful STAB like High Jump Kick and Acrobatics.</li>
<li>It has access to Unburden, which doubles its speed when the current item is used.</li>
</ul>

[Cons]
<ul>
<li>It's seriously weak to Electric-, Psychic-, Fairy-, Ice-, and Flying-type.</li>
<li>Hawlucha's bulk is poor.</li>
<li>There aren't too much options in its movepool.</li>
</ul>

[Set Recommendations]

<p>Hawlucha @ Liechi Berry/Dread Plate/Focus Sash<br />
Ability: Unburden<br />
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 HP<br />
Adamant/Jolly Nature<br />
- Acrobatics<br />
- High Jump Kick<br />
- Swords Dance<br />
- Substitute/Baton Pass/Fling/Encore/Taunt/filler</p>

<p>This will probably be the Best set for hawlucha(until flying gem is released),allowing him to abuse of unburden and strong stabs. high jump kick literaly destroys everything that doesn't resist it, acrobatics is the secondary STAB that can break pokemons that resist fight. Swords Dance is here to boost your attack stat, reaching >600 after one boost! The fourth move slot is reserved to substitute, in fact with this you can activate liechi berry and unburden. But if you use focus sash The fourth move slot can be chosen between some usefull moves;Baton pass can be used to pass atk boost to someone that can deal with hawlucha checks and counters, thanks to encore it can boost his atk easily.</p>

<p>With liechi berry hawlucha's speed stat reaches a divine number, allowing him to outspeed all the metagame, scarfed or not, but the best nature for this set is still jolly nature, in fact if you want to use sub-liechi you need to have the speed stat maximized. You can also make something gimmick with fling to bait-kill aegislash , +2 with a dread plate it is ohko on the sword!(+2 252+ Atk Dread Plate Hawlucha Fling (90 BP) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Aegislash: 286-338 (88.27 - 104.32%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock)</p>

<p>Hawlucha @ Liechi Berry / Sitrus Berry<br />
Ability: Unburden<br />
EVs: 232 Spd / 248 Atk / 28 HP<br />
Jolly Nature<br />
- Substitute<br />
- Baton Pass<br />
- Acrobatics<br />
- Swords Dance / Encore</p>

<p>This set can function both as a mid-game team supporter, passing subs or SD boosts, and a late-game cleaner, gliding off what could be a passive +1 Atk / +2 Spe boost acquired from subbing down to Liechi and the solid coverage of STAB Acrobatics. Basically, Hawlucha is capable of finding a reasonable amount of free turns, either through offensive pressure or Encore, and from there it can pretty easily grab either a sub or an SD (obviously depending on whether you have SD or Encore :x) to pass to a partner. Then in the end-game, once priority and bulky resists are dispatched / worn down, Hawlucha can come in, sub down to berry range, and proceed to clean. It requires some support (stuff to bait / wear down Washtom, Aegislash, etc.), but It can be a really effectual offensive utilitymon, and much better than the current set in a metagame so chock-full of Talonflames, Aegislashs, and so forth. It's a little lame that it doesn't have a consistently strong STAB move to work with in the mid-game, but it's the lesser of two evils in this case imo. EVs allow it to outpaces base 115's (Starmie mostly), and 28 HP EVs puts it at 304, meaning that residuals can cleanly put it into berry range.</p>

<p>The worst thing is that unburden boost cannot be passed!</p>

[Checks and Counters]

<p>Pokemons that can resist this thing at +2 atk are really a few,Skarmory can resist adamant hjk at +2 ( +2 252 Atk Hawlucha Hi Jump Kick vs. 224 HP / 252+ Def Skarmory: 190-225 (58.1 - 67.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO) and ohko with brave bird after sr, but he has not got a safe switch in, being 2hkoed. The best counters of hawlucha are aegislash ,doublade and talonflame, in fact the swords can easily resist to acrobatics and are immune to high jump kick, And the bird can ohko aegislash with any flying STAB, ignoring unburden thanks to Gale wings.</p>

<p>Aegislash and doublade cannot be trapped too, so they could cause bad troubles to any team based on hawlucha's sweep, and the only way to deal with them is suprise-killing them with a fling Dread plate set.</p>

<p>jolteon and electric stuff like rotom w can be a threat for hawlucha if not boosted in atk, and strong scarf users like latios can ohko him if unburden isn't active. Alakazam is a threat too, because of the focus sash, and it can outspeed hawlucha without unburden.</p>

Baton Pass is the best option in the last slot for the first set. Being able to Baton Pass your boosts to another Pokemon whenever you face something you can't handle is a fantastic quality and makes Hawlucha much more difficult to deal with.

yeah forgot baton pass, now i will edit first post!

A Fighting Gem Power-Up Punch Unburden set is worth mentioning, at least in Other Options. Don't know if it's worth its own set.

Mention Electric types like Jolteon and physically defensive Zapdos as checks / counters
Priority is also going to be Hawlucha in check, so mention Mamoswine, Scizor, Azumarill, Dragonite, and Lucario as checks

You should slash Mold Breaker on its Choice Band set anyways, as Mold Breaker allows Hawlucha to scout for Sturdy leads, which it can (possibly) OHKO anyways thanks to Mold Breaker, preventing rocks from going up. It may also help against things like Solid Rock Rhyperior, Fur Coat Furfrou, etc. X-Scissor and Poison Jab should be removed from coverage options tbh, because Stone Edge simply provides the best coverage and power in tandem with High Jump Kick and U-Turn can be used in order to kill Celebi anyways. U-Turn also allows Hawlucha to scout out of Fairy types into something that can take them on much better.

On another note, Dread Plate + Fling can be mentioned on the SD set, as Fling, still boosted by Dread Plate (assuming it works like that), has a good chance of OHKOing Aegislash at +2 (guaranteed after a little bit of prior damage), while also giving Hawlucha the Unburden boost due to losing its Dread Plate. Gimmicky, but useful if Aegislash turns out to be as frequently used as we assume.

well, custap leads are not ohkoed by cb hawlucha, but yes i'll put it for fur coat furfrou etc.

uhm yea fling, if i use it with an iron ball it reaches 130 base power and ohkoes aegislash without sr, with a fossil it reaches 100 base power and ohkoes aegis after sr, and if fling is boosted by dread plate it's ohko too! but with that move you must pay attenction to his king's sheld..
well i'll write something about it

I've talked to some QC members including Alexwolf about this, and we agreed that the SD Unburden set should be the only one listed. The choice set doesn't have a usable flying move, and the bulk up set is trying to accomplish too much with some pretty bad base stats.

The slashes on the last move should be Encore / Taunt / Baton Pass. All three are good options so the ordering is chosen somewhat arbitrarily, anybody who feels strongly about it one way or the other should feel free to post. Substitute can go in OO and fling isn't worth it.

In the pros and cons section, I'd highlight the nearly perfect coverage of flying + fighting, and the fact that Hawlucha's high base power stabs combined with swords dance can make up for its low attack.

As some of you have figured out by now, the Flying gem is currently unavailable. This means that the Flying Gem SD set cannot be utilized effectively due to its inability to abuse unburdeon. The Dread Plate + Fling set can still abuse unburdeon, however.

so i have to delete the others sets?

i did not understand,flying gem doesn't activate unburden?

Yep as snunch said, we all decided that the Choice set has to go. I have seen the chestorest set and don't think it is worrhy of having its own set; perhaps a mention in OO for sure. It sounds good on paper but is hard to get going in practise. I mean bulky walls will take your hit better than the Sd set, and simply phase you out or ohko you. The +1 def isnt going to be changing much. Also please change the heading to QC READY 0/3.

Edit: forgot to say good work!

Flying Gem isn't out apparently. Only Normal Gem is available with the Dowsing Machine. If anyone has any info contradictory to this, please post it (I don't have the game so I can neither confirm nor deny; this is just what everyone I have talked to has said). Since Flying Gem nor Fight Gem are available at this point, I propose we hold off on this if possible since Hawlucha is pretty bad otherwise, lol. Again, if anyone has any other info, please post here. Otherwise, I see no point posting this Pokemon...unless someone can think of another set / it's mandatory.

Please revert this back to skeleton form and attempt to find a set that doesn't utilize Flying Gem, as currently it is unproven it's available. The current set also suffers from a whole load of slashitis, so it would be ideal to make a set that's actually solid in concept.

Personally as popular for whatever reason this Pokemon is, I'm currently not seeing too much promise outside of its high Speed and STABs. Be sure to mention Talonflame as one of Hawlucha's best checks, since it can just use priority Brave Bird, no problems.

well i posted two other sets when this was just a skeleton, but i had to delete them as some of you said :(
i don't know, i have to create another set which doesn't abuse of flying gem and which i did not post yet? great..

I suggest to do some changes in Pros and Cons section.

[Pros]
<ul>
<li>It has excellent Speed stat. Amazing speed stat</li>
<li>It has decent Attack stat. Good Atk stat</li>
<li>It has access to powerful STAB like Hi Jump Kick and Acrobatics. 2 amazing STABs in high jump kick and acrobatics</li>
<li>It has access to Unburden, which doubles its speed when the current item is used. Awesome ability Umburden</li></ul>

[Cons]
<ul>
<li>It's seriously weak to Electric-, Psychic-, Fairy-, Ice-, and Flying-type. 5 important weaknesses(electric,psychic,fairy,ice and flying)</li>
<li>Hawlucha's bulk is poor. Not really good bulk</li>
<li>There aren't too much options in its movepool. Poor movepool</li>
</ul>

Out of curiosity, has any consideration been given to a dedicated SubPass set? Something to the effect of...

<p>Hawlucha @ Liechi Berry / Sitrus Berry<br />
Ability: Unburden<br />
EVs: 232 Spd / 248 Atk / 28 HP<br />
Jolly Nature<br />
- Substitute<br />
- Baton Pass<br />
- Acrobatics<br />
- Swords Dance / Encore</p>

I've been using this set to good effect as of late, and it honestly looks much nicer than the current set (no offense to anybody involved x_x). This set can function both as a mid-game team supporter, passing subs or SD boosts, and a late-game cleaner, gliding off what could be a passive +1 Atk / +2 Spe boost acquired from subbing down to Liechi and the solid coverage of STAB Acrobatics. Then in the end-game, once priority and bulky resists are dispatched / worn down, Hawlucha can come in, sub down to berry range, and proceed to clean. It requires some support (stuff to bait / wear down Washtom, Aegislash, etc.), but I've found it to be a really effectual offensive utilitymon, and much better than the current set in a metagame so chock-full of Talonflames, Aegislashs, and so forth. It's a little lame that it doesn't have a consistently strong STAB move to work with in the mid-game, but it's the lesser of two evils in this case imo. EVs allow it to outpaces base 115's (Starmie mostly), and 28 HP EVs puts it at 304, meaning that residuals can cleanly put it into berry range. Thoughts?

Your set seems great col49, i just want to clarify that the Unburden +2 Speed boost cannot be Baton Passed as you imply here:
gliding off what could be a passive +1 Atk / +2 Spe boost acquired from subbing down to Liechi and the solid coverage of STAB Acrobatics.

Oh, I meant that Hawlucha itself, not a partner, could utilize these "boosts" to sweep, I understand the mechanics of Unburden :P Sorry if I worded that poorly haha

Perhaps try out that set col49 mentioned and possibly add it to your analysis, as the QC team seems to like it quite a bit.
