I'll be there tommorow for anyone who's interested, can't compete of course, but a few friends have convinced me to show up :P.
Yeah, I remember you skelz. That was a close battle-yes a focus sash could have made a big difference. I had trouble with a focus sash gengar in the melb tournie. The final was a bit of a non-event and it would have been nice to show off my other poke (dont get me wrong I was happy to win) - i mean who has a triple weakness to electricty, even team rocket knows better than that.
Very true I'm stumped how that person even made it that far. Our match should have been the final. Did you find the Melbourne tournament had more competition and better players?
I dont know if the best in Melbourne were better than the best in Adelaide, but in Melbourne there were more better trainers. In particular there was a v.strong Asian contingent-meticulous raising with direct play-who were missing in Adelaide.
I would really like to go back in time to the melb tournie with my improved team. Most of my defeats were close and i am really curious how i would go with a second chance (any people with a working time shift device...).
I dont think that girl would have made it to the finals in melb. I felt a bit sorry for a guy called john (i think). He had a fairly cheap set but was clearly a better trainer than many in the final 8 and i knocked him out in the 2nd round. I was surprised u didnt come back the 2nd day Skelz (unless i missed u)- I thought u would have had a good chance again.
Lol, just got back from the Chatswood tournament. Top 4 had two people with hacked pokemon so they had to restart the top 8 again. Pretty bad stuff but was made good by the finals which came down to Metagross OHKOing Weavile with a Bullet Punch.
Overall it was good times, and would like to see Nintendo host more events in the future. The woman was a bit loud though; the guy was way better (Jamie I think). Mad props to the SGC people who kept me company even though we didn't know each other.

Were you ever on the big screen? What did you use? I was knocked out round 4 due to a mistake on my part, but when it comes down to it I didn't really want to knock my opponent out since he had gotten his DS stolen on Friday.
Today was alot better than yesterday (which had an incredible amount of hax) except for the two with hacked Pokemon in the top 8.

No I didn't go, marion is a fair distance from my house and I didn't have a convenient way of making it there. In all honesty, looking back I would have much rathered I had prepared more. Next time one of these come along I'm going to get a lot more practice in, and hopefully a better result.
How often do these occur, once a year? after a game is released? Just out of curiosity...
Nah, I was never on the big screen, my friend was though. I think you may have spotted me; I'm 6'3" and whenever stood anywhere near the front people were always asking me to pipe down. Hehe.
I got knocked out in the first round, against a Latias, CM Raikou, and Metagross. I used Gengar, Blissey (which I had brought up the previous night to deal with Latis) and Milotic (which I wished I had made Garchomp).
A guy actually came up and said: "This battle's been going for a while, and asked me if Blissey was my last Poke".
So it went from there - I really wish I hadnt felt bad for him and let his Latias kill my Gengar, cause I could've Destiny Bonded the Raikou.

The guy who told me my battle was taking too long was an official wearing a Pokemon shirt, one of the guys who spoke on the mike occassionally. Not decar (is that his name?) who explained the rules, another guy.

haha what the hell, how did they slip through? Did they have like maxed EVs/IVs or something?
My Experience
It was with great satisfaction that I entered the threshold of this Pokemon Tournament. Smiling at the sight of these quaint infidels and lesser humans engaged in Pokebattle, I filled in a registration form indicating that I was, indeed, the great Steelicks, and that I had come to win this tournament.
There was one problem though.
Me and my sister had turned up an hour late; I was convinced that Perth would not find enough people to enter. How wrong was I... the spots were taken in like the first half hour. The hottie at the front, before requesting permission to touch my penis, informed me that there was no way I could enter. I saw no real reason to stick around.
That was until I found hybrid.au, also a member of Smogon. An individual almost as tall as myself, he had made it into the second round of the tournament. Enraged, I challenged him. COMBATE BEGIN.

hybrid unleashed the powerful Garchomp (named smogon.com) against the very intimidating Tauros (called BULLY. heh. I'm so clever). BULLY was so intimidating, in fact, that the dragon was forced to withdraw. hybrid's Starmie (forgot what it was called, but it was funny) took minor damage from Return. I guess I forgot to make Tauros happy, huh?
I switched to Slowbro (named BOOTS), who took minor damage from Surf. Jolteon (called Curved Roy) was sent out, while BOOTS used Calm Mind. I was convinced that BOOTS would survive the incoming attack, but I was wrong. oof! The damage was criticant!
BULLY was once again called out; Curved Roy had to retreat, meaning I was once again facing the Dragon. BULLY's Earthquake did severe damage, however, and the speedy bull managed to hit it again, defeating it. Golly! Starmie reappeared, and again, fell victim to an Earthquake onslaught (although BULLY narrowly managed to survive a Surf).
It was now BULLY vs Curved Roy. Surely BULLY would lose? Not quite. Curved Roy was modest, not timid, and simply had no hope of outspeeding the angry cow. Grasping the choice band tight, BULLY once again demolished the competition. Heh. Ninetales (ROY MASTER) wasn't needed at all!
Winner: The Steelikes
So, that's my story. Not very exciting hum? I guess next time I will turn up two hours early, to secure my place in the finals... and so I can, once again, grasp hold of the majestic Beetlefruit cup (or whatever shitty prize they were giving away).
