Instacheck Hotspot -- a fast Pokémon checker for XY

This is what i get... anyone know why?
If you go to Services (search from start menu) is WLAN AutoConfig started and set to automatic?

No, DNS/IP won't help.
Actually, the 3DS doesn't like to stay connected to Hotspots like it does routers (I have no idea what the difference is...) It often closes out for short moments (which, in Pokemon's case, causes a total disconnect for the game), as well as a quick disconnect whenever you open/close the system/go to Home Menu.

You all really might want to check out the HomePass thread on GBATemp, since they cover all this networking stuff for TONS of different systems/devices to work with 3DS.

Also, SGMarcus, could you add the link to whatever is the newest revision of your InstaCheck to your Signature or something, so it's easier to find? Sorry, it's just really useful, but would be easier to just reference people who comment long past you posted it to it instead of the original.

Hum. I know they said that being unable to reconnect and having to restart the hotspot is normal, but there's got to be some way to fix that, or in my case make it more stable. I can't check people's eggs because of random disconnects :(. I'll try looking on gbatemp.

Actually, no, restarting the Hotspot is NOT normal. If it's done right, it should stay good and active for weeks on end. (mine does)
However, this can vary based on hardware, and what method of setting up the hotspot you are using. (Really, Prompt is the best way, which I gave simple instructions to do... I don't think I forgot one. -_-; ).

The unstable part is the 3DS, which easily disconnects by either closing the system's clamshell or hitting the Home button.

@:keefe98: That's not the only step.
In Prompt:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=attwifi key=87654321
This will set a Hosted Network with the name attwifi and a password of 87654321
then, still in Prompt:
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
This starts the network.
Then, go to your Network Adapters, and turn on Internet Connection Sharing in the Options for your adapter that provides your computer with Internet access.

joaomb: ... if you got rid of ALL your connections, then that included the Internet one. Hence the error.
errrrr, i can't use "ssid=attwifi key=87654321" in the command prompt :x

Huh? How not? Just type it in...
Or, copy the line and right-mouse-click Paste
(CTRL+V doesn't work in Prompt. It's OLD, and some shortcuts have different functions in there. That's what computers really used to look like when running programs. Ah, the days of DOS games... >_< Jill of the Jungle! )

I don't know, but in their troubleshooting section in the first post they put: "
My 3DS just disconnected from the hotspot and I tried to reconnect, but it isn't working.

One thing we've noticed is that if the 3DS disconnects from the hotspot, the hotspot MUST be restarted (just click the Stop Hotspot button) before the 3DS can connect to it again. We're not sure why, that's just how it works."
Which is what's happening to me, but I'm trying to figure out how to get around that.

sigh. i got it working a few days ago and it just came down like this again ==

If you were talking to me about original or modified, I'm using original one.

If you could give me time till Sunday or so, I could rework my program, so it is able to restart the hotspot via button press, and maybe also doing the sharing internet connection automatically (if possible).
And I could clean up the GUI (just the first one, not the actual InstaCheck)

Ah, THAT. ^_^ My good ol' friend, "Won't Start". Ok, that's solvable, but it's a pain.
First off, how many wireless adapters do you have attached to your system, and does it have a wired port?

Hm, maybe should make it a conversation instead, so as to not just take up lots of Thread posts...?
Dang, this is one of those few times I like the layout of Groups on Facebook... I'm a mod on a PokeGen group even. -_-; (Still not sure why. He just made me one... ^_^;)

Edit: I gotta get some sleep... see you guys in a few hours or so.

I have 1 with a wired cable directly connected to my laptop and a wireless card that allows me to use wifi. Also, I have a router and a cable TV channel together with a modemn that supplies my internet.

You are not allowed to be connected to a network over wifi (which you are), if you want to start a hotspot, at least, as far as I know, it's not possible to use 1 antenna for 2 different things.
I think thats your problem. I should show "Not connected" on your Wireless Network Connection

So I have a question, what if the hotspot doesn't show up when I search for access points on my 3DS? The hotspot's definitely working since I can find it on my phone.

To clarify I've tried manually setting it up with the IP and DNS but it says it can't find a point in range matching the SSID which I put in as the one I used on the program along with security set as WPA2-PSK (AES) and the proper password

that's strange :/
The error: "not in the correct state" or so, would normaly say, that your wifi devices is already used, what error do you get, if you try to start a hotspot, when you are not connected to a wifi network?
