Yes, it's another Shoddy battle. It was really fun for me, so I figured, eh, I'll make a warstory. Teams are aren't in order of appearance, except for the starters. Also, I don't know Fishak's gender, so I'll just say "he" when referring to him.

My team:

181-3.png
254-3.png

His(or her) team:

Masock sent out Ninjask!
Fishak sent out Electivire.

The battle starts, and both battlers send out their Pokémon. Mine is a speedy ninja beetle, and his is a large and furry (albeit electric) humanoid.

.....Oh, dear. Ninjask will die to a Thunderpunch, so I'll have to Baton Pass. But first, a good protect to get that lovely Speed Boost.

claudeswares has entered the room.
Ninjask used Protect.
Ninjask protected itself!
Electivire used Thunderpunch.
Ninjask protected itself!
Ninjask's Speed Boost raised its speed!
Ninjask's speed was raised.

Oops, no Thunderpunch. Now what should I Baton Pass too...How about my only earthquaker?

Masock: can't touch this

What? It's true.

Ninjask used Baton Pass.
Dragonite's speed was raised.
Masock switched in Dragonite.
Electivire used Thunderpunch.
Critical hit!
Dragonite lost 110% of its health.
Masock's Dragonite fainted.

Drat! Cursed critical hits. Right now I have no idea what to use to counter this beast, so I'll try my Mix/phys/spectile. Yeah, it's a weird one.
Masock: curse you critical hit
Fishak: that was lucky
It was indeed, considering Shoddy's higher crit rate though.

Masock switched in Sceptile.
Electivire used Thunderpunch.
It's not very effective...
Sceptile lost 49% of its health.
Wow, another Thunderpunch? I was expecting an Earthquake.

Sceptile used Leaf Storm.
Electivire lost 77% of its health.
Sceptile's special attack was harshly lowered.

I really like Leaf Storm. The rest of my Sceptile's moves are actually physical, so I can use it once without worrying about the repercussions.
Masock: darn, i hate that -2 for sp.atk
Masock: now i can't use him

I'm not very proud of this part. I tried to trick him and get him to switch because he might have thought I would switch next.
Electivire used Thunderpunch.
It's not very effective...
Sceptile lost 53% of its health.
Masock's Sceptile fainted.

What? Another Thunderpunch? What on earth is going on with this Electivire? Must be choice banded. Hehe, I can use this to my advantage.

Masock switched in Ampharos.
Electivire used Thunderpunch.
It's not very effective...
Ampharos lost 33% of its health.

Ampharos's Static paralysed Electivire!
Electivire is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Ampharos used Fire Punch.
Electivire lost 23% of its health.
Fishak's Electivire fainted.

I did'nt really have anything else to use besides Thunder, so Fire Punch worked.
Masock: why not just cross chop?
Fishak: choice band
Masock: aaah
Masock: that makes sense

Just confirming.

Fishak switched in Arcanine.

Should I switch to Vaporeon? Hmm, no, think I'll set up first.

Arcanine lost 10% of its health.

Drat, this thing is Life Orbed.
Arcanine used Extremespeed.
Ampharos lost 39% of its health.

39%? Wow...shows what Life Orb really can do.
Ampharos's Static paralysed Arcanine!
Arcanine is paralysed! It may be unable to move!
Ampharos used Rain Dance.

Oh, I really like Static. It's useful for setting up when the other guy can't do anything about it.I used Rain Dance to hinder his Fire Attacks, boost whatever Water attack I might use against him, and increase Thunder's accuracy. 3 for 1.
Rain began to fall!
The rain continues to fall.

Arcanine lost 10% of its health.
Arcanine used Extremespeed.
Ampharos lost 40% of its health.
Masock's Ampharos fainted!

Double drat! I was going to just Thunder him and not reveal my next Pokémon, but I guess I'll have to.

Masock: bad doggy

Super effective!

Aw drat, he's got Thunderbolt. If Starmie had Grass Knot instead....
Vaporeon lost 51% of its health.
Vaporeon used Yawn.
Starmie became drowsy!
Yeah, I went with a Yawn here, although I really should have just Surfed.
The rain continues to fall.
Vaporeon's leftovers restored a little health!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.

Masock switched in Porygonz.

Whee, PorygonZ! I really love using this thing, especially when I can pass some speed to it. It's got Nasty Plot, Tri Attack, and BoltBeam.
Porygonz's Download raised its stats!
Porygonz's special attack was raised.
Another lucky break! I was hoping this would happen.

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Porygonz lost 36% of its health.
The rain stopped.
Starmie fell asleep!

Heehee, bye Starmie. At this point I totally forgot about Natural Cure.

Fishak switched in Forretress.
Porygonz used Nasty Plot.
Porygonz's special attack was sharply raised.

I knew that he knew that I had T-Bolt, so I Nasty Plotted on the switch.

Porygonz used Thunderbolt.
Forretress lost 106% of its health.
Fishak's Forretress fainted.

Porygonz used Thunderbolt.
Dusknoir lost 49% of its health.

Masock: >:S pain split
Porygonz used Thunderbolt.
Dusknoir lost 55% of its health.
Fishak's Dusknoir fainted.

Masock: space duck is unfazed
Fishak switched in Arcanine.

Drat, that Arcanine's back. I know he's gonna Extremespeed, but on the slight chance that he won't.....

Arcanine lost 10% of its health.
Arcanine used Extremespeed.
Porygonz lost 45% of its health.
Masock's Porygonz fainted.

45 percent. Even with Life Orb? He must have had maxed attack.
Masock: sfgusygeaf
Masock: space duck suffers an, um, crushing defeat
Masock switched in Vaporeon.
Fishak switched in Dragonite.

Vaporeon is great to switch in, and in this situation it worked wonders. I thought he would have something different, so I Surfed. Bad idea....

Dragonite lost 107% of its health.
Fishak's Dragonite fainted.
Vaporeon's leftovers restored a little health!
Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.

Hah, I am still faster. I was expecting a switch though, why didn't he think I wouldn't have Ice Beam?

Fishak: shouldve seen that coming

Vaporeon restored 6% of its health.

I'm really surprised that he sent out Arcanine here. Was he hoping to be faster and Thunder Fang me?

Fishak switched in Starmie.
Masock switched in Ninjask.

I remember, this darned Starmie still has Thunderbolt. And, it's not asleep! I forgot about Natural Cure. I hope Ninjask can take a hit.....

Starmie used Thunderbolt.
Super effective!
Ninjask lost 122% of its health.
Masock's Ninjask fainted.

It can't.
Fishak: gotta love wise glasses

Props:
Vaporeon for being a great wall/sweeper
Fishak for using a cool team
Ampharos for being awesome and fainting his superior counterpart

Slops:
Ninjask for not being able to BP anything that counted
Dragonite for doing absolutely nothing

Well, gimme reviews! I suppose I could say it less bluntly, but I don't want to. :toast:

This was a cool read. Makes me want to try out Vaporeon, although I'm still debating how useful it will be in D/P.

Wouldn't Electivire want to Ice Punch Sceptile though?

Btw, that turn that Dragonite DD'd, you still had to attack, which is why you were able to pull off that Ice Beam, otherwise, you would have been slower.

That was confusing. Wait, your Vaporeon outsped DNite? How did it do that? I didn't see anything about DNite being paralyzed.

Wait what just happened? Arcanine killed your PZ and you both sent in a pokemon? The only way that would be possible would be if Arcanine killed itself with recoil damage from Life Orb. But it was sent out later in the battle so it didn't die. I'm confused.....But then, all the Shoddy Battle warstories have been confusing.

At least Natural Cure is in now. No more statused Bliss.

I've seen better Warstories.

Mainly, I could see your flaws as a battler, and I don't like seeing the flaws in strategic thinking in warstories.

Things such as Natural Cure Starmie, not thinking Electivire was T-Punch locked, etc. You didn't seem too hot in the battle, and the Vaporeon had some lucky hax to bring it down to the wire, even when you could've won if you used Surf when you were supposed to. Oh well though.

This war story is just...I don't know, not that great? It's pretty confusing to read seeing as you hardly seperate turns, and either you or your team wasn't really built to take on threats such as Electivire.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I agree that my battle wasn't very strategic- It was my first Shoddy Battle, and I did throw together a team in 2 minutes- but I can't deny that I lacked a lot of signature qualities. I agree about the Natural Cure thing though, it was ridiculous of me to use Yawn.

At one point I almost said quadruple drat.

I appreciate the criticism, but how could I make it better? I'm not being arrogant, I just want to know a better way to do it next time.

This is why the thread if being locked. If even you can tell it is not going to be war story material, do us all a favor and don't make a war story out of it! You kind of add insult to injury when you put "ANOTHER" in the topic title. Did you think it was a good idea to saturate the board with these things?

Get more experience, put thought into your team, and don't make war stories of random matches. Tournament matches usually make for more exciting tales, as you (hopefully) know that both players put a lot of thought and effort into the game to get to where they where at the time.
