Gen 6 The "Are my Pokémon IVs and Nature good?" Thread

So, in my first attempt, without any kind of "Synchroniser", I got this Xerneas:

Nature : Rash
IVs:
HP - 29
Att - 31
Def - 31
Sp.Att - 30
Sp.Def - 25
Speed - 31
HP : electric

I know it has got Rash nature, but Geomancy kind of covers that, and I really like the IV distribution, Sp.Def, again, it could've been a little higher, but apart from that I think it is pretty good. The maxed attack IV, along with the 131 base stat, may even allow for some suprises. Is it worth keeping?

I wouldn't run Rash on a Geomancy set - that x.09 multiplier is twice as significant factoring in a boost. Meanwhile, Geomancy Xern has no use for its attack stat, since it'll hit everything harder off of +2 SpA anyway.

That being said, those IVs are very good. I'd ask around to see if Rash is usable on any Xerneas set, and then keep & run that set if it is.

Is this good enough?

Yveltal - #717 (Timid) : 31 / 16 / 30 / 31 / 30 / 31

IVs are confirmed, was aiming for Hasty but getting 6 -almost- flawless IVs was a pain in the ass. Like even this one has taken me around 15-20 "good" (31 Spe at least) soft resets. Should I keep? I'm inclined to do so but would like to hear opinions

ok, but fyi this was captured using a Timid sync. Like I tried Hasty first but I wanted to smash my 3DS after a couple of resets. I think Timid is an ok nature, besides the obvious choice sets you can use something like STAB moves, Taunt and Foul Play/U-Turn. Works fine on Showdown, I was just aiming for Hasty initially because of Sucker Punch but oh well

With regards to Hasty, your initial thought process mirrored mine. But yeah, Yveltal doesn't *have* to play the role of mixed attacker, and sometimes may not even want to. Timid is still a very good nature for specially-based sets, and you can even throw Foul Play on special sets if you absolutely must have a strong physical move. In addition, investing fully in one attack stat will maximize damage + healing from Oblivion Wing and Dark Pulse damage, which are probably Yveltal's two most consistent attacks. So while Hasty is great, you're not really any worse off for having Timid.

HOLY SHIT DUDE!!!

While calculating Iv's it said Impossible, what does it mean? It says press Validate All but I did that and said that Def must be between 129 and 151 but Zapdos's Def is 152. What am I doing wrong?

either the input nature/level is incorrect or it has gained some EVs from battle

edit: OR idk if Zapdos stats have changed on XY, make sure you are using the right calcs

Yeah. I'm piecing everything together and it said some Pokemon may have got new stats in X and Y and then re labeled them with their name and X/Y. Something tells me I won't be going after Zapdos just quite yet until it's updated.

any suggestions for nature on Zygarde? I've seen Adamant and Careful but for some reason I got a feeling he might get a new forme on Z (or whatever the next game is called) so I'm not sure

I have this li'l guy flapping around on an unsaved file as I post:

Yveltal - #717 (Hasty)
HP: 31
Att: 25 - 26 (Just managed to bum a rare candy off my sister, so the 26 is confirmed)
Def: 26
SpA: 31
SpD: 20
Speed: 31

Now, I've done enough homework over the last evening to understand that the above stats make for a respectable mixed attacker, but I'm shooting for some versatility and I'm too much of a newb to trust my gut as to whether that SpD/Def spread is sufficient for dabbling outside of that box--after all, a 20 apparently isn't anything to write home about and Hasty undermines the 26 he's sporting on the physical side. FWIW, I have a nice collection of ralts to save scum with if someone's got a convincing argument for Modest/Timid/whatever being a more versatile nature, since frankly I'm too new at this to make even a guess as to what I'd be trying to speed creep with this guy anyway.

Yveltal, hasty nature:

31/25/22/31/30/31

Worth keeping? I used sync to get hasty, and it's supposed to be a mixed attacker. Great IVs except defense. Sp. def is usually more important in ubers, though. Keep?

After a few hours of resetting I got a modest Xerneas with 31/27/25/31/31/31. I did keep it, but I'm wondering if that 25 in defense should have me concerned at all? I went with an EV spread of 252spA, 154 Def and 104 Spe after reading through Xerneas's thread, anything I should look out for?

After a few resets, I got a 31/14/9-11/31/31/15 Yveltal with a Mild Nature. I decided this was workable, and I'm probably going to try a bulky Mixed attacking set with Oblivion Wing, Dark Pulse, Focus Blast, and Sucker Punch with 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 Att

Yeah, most likely, the imperfect Speed stat won't hurt too much. It has no business staying in on Xerneas or Genesect, which it shares a speed tier with, so speed ties don't matter, and it's in an awkward speed tier to begin with, so it doesn't necessarily run full speed anyway. Furthermore, it has Sucker Punch to help alleviate speed issues. Nice catch! Definitely worth keeping!

So I'm rather clueless about this stuff, but I saved a Timid Xerneas with the stats of 201/133/115/151/118/130 not thinking there could be variables, but now it seems I input the characteristic and Hidden Power Dark and the calculator says 31 for all except Attack, which is 25 (0 EVs I think since I let it faint instead of this Reset Bag thing that I have never heard of, and I think I input everything correctly). I had my Synchronizer as Timid the whole time, but now I'm reading that Modest is better? So what should I do with this Timid one? Thanks.

Wow, everyone is getting flawless stuff all of a sudden. Timid is equally as viable, with the ability to run scarf sets as well as Geomancy. In fact, I think Scarf is even more viable. You're not dead weight and you can attack multiple times.

Trust me, it wasn't all of a sudden, and I didn't even know about being able to KO it, so I went through the cutscene a bazillion times. But yeah, I was aiming for Geomancy yet now I read that everyone wants Modest for that so I'm like wth...
