Also if anyone is willing to trade me a pokemon with magma armor I would appreciate it, havent been able to get a safari with a magcargo or camerupt and the gtc wants nothing but yveltals =(

I'm not quite sure what you mean. If you mean 'can the knot choose the same IV from both parents', no. It will pick 3 from one and 2 from the other. If you make the parents both have the IV you need in one stat, it doesn't matter which one it picks, so if you mean it like that...

I meant "Can it pick Attack IVs from both parents causing an overlap?" (which is an issue because it lowers the chances of perfect parents creating a perfect offspring dramatically) but I highly doubt it picks 2 from one and 3 from the other.

I originally concluded that in order for the chance of a perfect offspring to remain low enough to require several batches of breeds in order to achieve (that's a mouthful), they would have to overlap. Otherwise, perfect offspring would have a 1/6 chance of occurring, which in average would be 5 out of every 6 batches, which is a hell of a lot.

However, as I've been breeding for a 6IV with 5IV parents, I've noticed that I have never had an offspring with less than 4IVs and it would be reasonable to assume, without prior knowledge, that the cause is the sixth non-31 stat being passed as opposed to the desired 31 that's missing.

Furthermore, after some rough calculations, I found that if they DO overlap, the probability is substantially lower, owing to only 4 perfect offspring out of every 99 hatches (just over 4 per 20 batches)

The chance of passing a desired IV over the number of IVs able to be passed for every IV that is passed:

(10/12) * (8/11) * (6/10) * (4/9) * (2/8) = 4.04% = (4/99)

I figured that it's been tested or there's been proof of either case somewhere on the forums but I couldn't find it for the life of me.

Oh yeah also wanted to say I just masuda method my first shiny, a gible, jolly w rough skin ironhead and outrage, in a luxory ball 31/31/31/xx/31/xx took five days and about 1500 eggs, so happy,!
