Introduction
Yay, I'm finally using this account, after leaving it sit for half a year. Hello, world! Now then, this is my big jump into UU. I built this team on a sudden idea: Weakness Policy Umbreon. Now, I know, the only Umbreon you ever see is a Play Rough or stall one. I tried to do something creative, and fell on my face, with a 1-2 W/L.
The Process
Star of the team, here is Weakness Policy Umbreon, running with 252 EVs in SpDef and Def, and 4 in Atk. Since he's slow, I have Payback, a 100 BP STAB move if the opponent attacks first.
You know what, Dark types just hate them Fighting types. So I got a counter, Scyther. With Technician and STAB, Aerial Ace becomes 135 BP, hitting most Fighting types pretty hard.
Well, here is where I just threw strategy out the window, putting in pokemon I really like.
I needed a mega, and Banette was the first one I thought of, because of its potential bulk, and being able to switch into Fighting types safely, and hitting them with Psychic.
Closer, but not too close
Darkness (Umbreon) @ Weakness Policy
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SDef / 4 Atk
Impish Nature
- Confuse Ray
- Body Slam
- Moonlight
- Payback
Hooboy, is this a controversial set. I really built this on a whim, seeing I used a similar set with BlackGlasses. This is the center of the team, the big boy. Confuse Ray and Body Slam provide decent hax, Payback for a nice, beefy attack, and Moonlight for reliable, fast healing.
inb4 wai u no toxic stall
Blade (Scyther) @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SDef
Jolly Nature
- Aerial Ace
- Brick Break
- Bug Bite
- Swords Dance
Cookie cutter Scyther set. Aerial Ace takes care of those pesky fighting types, and Bug Bite for good STAB. If I set up Swords Dance, I may be able to sweep, I haven't tried yet. Brick Break is for... I guess the occasional Dark wall.
Gardevoir is just a poser.
Rosy Hayabusa (Roserade) @ Life Orb
Ability:Poison Point Technician
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 4 HP
Modest Nature
- Energy Ball
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
-Weather Ball HP Fire
Poison is in this season, and you know it. It's a Rosy set I've run with success (I don't remember if it's a Smogon one or not). Energy Ball and Sludge Bomb are nice STABs, Giga Drain for LOrb healing, and HP Fire for extra coverage.
Shadow (Chandelure) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
-Sunny Day Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
-Solar Beam Energy Ball
-Dark Pulse HP Fighting
I've trolled great a many with Flash Fire, actually. Fire Blast is a really powerful move after Flash Fire, Shadow Ball is STAB, and HP Fighting for... something.
Avarice (Bisharp) @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 196 HP / 60 Def
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Substitute
- Swords Dance
-Sucker Punch Knock Off? (still sketchy)
Oh, the sweeps. Substitute, if not hit super effectively, will net at least 1 or 2 Swords Dance boosts, effectively giving you the match. Iron Head provides flinching, which when coupled with confusion, will make Avarice here invincible. Sucker Punch is obvious, good powered priority. This move may be replaced with Knock Off.
Banette @ Banettite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 SDef / 4 Def
Modest Nature
- Calm Mind
- Cotton Guard
- Psychic/HP Fighting
-Dark Pulse Shadow Ball
Cursed Body is fun. So is walling. So is baiting. Enough said.
In Conclusion
I built this team on a whim, and I hope there's some potential here. I took no real direction with this, so any (good) tips would be really nice, please. I'm open to changing a few members, and switching moves around. But please, remember the original concept of Weakness Policy Umbreon.
SIDE NOTE: I didn't run calcs, I just thought that some moves would hit real hard.
