Well this is my second team and I feel like I have a much better grasp of teambuilding thanks to the community/guides here and on Pokemon Showdown.
First I wanted to build a team around Aegislash because everyone talks about how amazing he is and I wanted to see for myself how good he was, I also needed a decent offensive Pokemon to build my team around.
Next I knew he was very weak to fire and ground, but decided to go with Heatran for the fire immunity as well as compliment Aegislash's physical attacks with Heatran's special.
Since they both have a big weakness to ground I searched around for a while and found a Pokemon that could sponge special attacks, is immune to ground and is a great revenge killer, Latios.
With a physical attacker, special attacker and revenge killer/special wall(ish) I needed a physical wall and I went for arguably the best one in the game, Ferrothorn.
The last spot that I really chose was actually completely arbitrary, I got swept by a Mega-Gyrados and I needed a Mega (Preferably one that was water for a solid FGW core). It turned out fairly well because he's a great cleanup crew especially after 2 DD.
The last spot is actually why I am making this thread, I've tried Sableye, Cresselia, Dusclops w/ eviolite, Sylveon, Gliscor and most recently Mandibuzz and nothing seems to be any good with the rest of the team and is only there to suicide Defog/support/heal if it's fast enough. So on to the actual pokemon.
Aegislash @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 SAtk / 4 SDef
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Sacred Sword
- Shadow Sneak
- Shadow Ball
- King's Shield
Mixed Aegislash is amazing and since he requires no set up he can switch in with ease and destroys the opponent shadow ball is the main damaging move and Shadow sneak is to finish them off, while sacred sword hits anything that is immune to ghosts.
Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Earth Power
- Flamethrower
- Hidden Power [Ice]
Heatran is probably my most used Pokemon, if I send out Ferrothorn most of the time they switch in a Pokemon with a fire type move, ground type, or fighting. If I predict correctly I can usually get a flash fire bonus and avoid a super effective ground type attack. Heatran also lures out Gliscor who can wall both my sweepers so HP Ice takes care out that. I don't like Air Balloon on him because I never switch into a ground attack and leftovers is better for keeping him able to absorb fire attacks.
Latios @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
No longer my revenge killer, Latios is just a general coverage special attacker. I've considered using recover but not exactly to sure on the moveset here.
Dragonite @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Fire Punch
- Iron Head
- Dragon Claw
- ExtremeSpeed
Dragonite is my revenge killer and offers important resistances to Fire and Fighting as well as the immunity to ground. Suggestions on the Moveset would be appreciated.
Ferrothorn (M) @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Leech Seed
- Thunder Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
Go to lead and physical wall. Stab gyro ball hits hard if Ferrothorn gets paralyzed and SR is a standard hazard to make it that much harder for them to get in Charizard/Volcanora/Talonflame. Leech Seed to hamper sweeps and provide regen and Thunder Wave to be a pest.
Gyarados-Mega @ Gyaradosite
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge
This is probably the most randomly placed Pokemon on my team but it works very well. I can usually take out things that threaten Gyarados with the other Pokemon and switch in Gyarados to get a DD when they only have a few Pokemon left. After 2 DD he is mostly unstoppable.
I am open to suggestions on how to make the team better. Thanks ^.^
