Rate My UU Team

This is a UU team I have made and tested, it is fairly consistent in terms of winning matches. However, I feel that some of the pokemon I'm using are not good enough.

Nidoqueen (F) @ Black Sludge
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spd
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Sludge Wave
- Ice Beam

Nidoqueen is my main lead. I like to set up stealth rocks as early as I can to do as much residual damage as I can before I get too late in the match. Other than Stealth Rocks, Nidoqueen focuses on special moves to take advantage of its average Sp.Atk. Earth Power and Sludge wave are 2 powerful STAB moves, and Ice Beam is used for coverage.

Jellicent @ Lum Berry
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 SAtk
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Recover

Jellicent is a specially defensive water type. Sometimes I start off with Jellicent to prevent Galvantula fro setting up sticky web as I have no way of getting rid of it. Jellicent was really the only water type that appealed to me while I was building this team, because I had never used it before. Cursed Body is also good against Choiced opponents. Overall, I'm not disappointed with Jellicent's performance, but I'm not sure if it's either as good as it can be, or as good as other water types.

Umbreon @ Leftovers
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Protect
- Foul Play

Standard Umbreon set, I decided on a physically defensive over specially defensive Umbeon because there are a lot more physical sweepers than special sweepers (that I've encountered anyway), so I bring in Umbreon against a strong physical attacker that poses a threat to my team, and switch between Wish, Protect and Foul Play.

Celebi @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 Spd / 4 SDef
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Earth Power
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Nasty Plot

Celebi is the grass type in my core. Good with special attack and has some fairly decent natural bulk. I made sure to lower it's attack IV's to 0, so Foul Play will do minimal damage. After setting up 1 Nasty Plot, I am able to take most things out in 2 hits.

Chandelure @ Choice Specs
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SAtk / 252 HP / 4 SDef
Modest Nature
- Overheat
- Shadow Ball
- Trick
- Hidden Power [Grass]

You average Chandelure set, although max investment in speed instead of HP might be better, I find that Chandelure is able to live quite a few hits from support Pokemon. I have considered running Fire Blast instead of Overheat, purely because after 1 boost from Flash Fire, and the potential burn, Fire Blast becomes a deadly move and you don't have to put up with the lowered Sp. Atk from Overheat. I use Trick to Switch my Specs onto a Life Orbed physical attacker, or even a wall as neither of them would benefit from the switch of items.

Heracross (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Megahorn
- Close Combat
- Stone Edge
- Aerial Ace

The final Pokemon in my team, Heracross. unfortunately Mega Heracross is banned from UU, so I run a max speed, Choice Scarf variant, I am able to outspeed most things with this set. Megahorn and Close Combat are 2 really powerful STAB moves. Stone Edge and Aerial Ace are just there for coverage. With this set I am able to outspeed and break any wall i come up against, along with the Moxie boost every time I take down another Pokemon.

So that's the team, tell me what you think of it and if there are any improvements that can be made (along with a justified reason of course)

Hi there, cool team you have here. There are a few things I'd like to change, however:

The Nidoqueen spread seems a bit weird to me. I would use a spread of 168 HP / 252 SpA / 88 Spe with a Modest instead. This spread lets Nidoqueen outspeed everything up to 252 Crawdaunt, and the rest is thrown into HP for more overall bulk. I really think that Nidoqueen needs maximized Special Attack, as it doesn't hit too hard without it, which is its main job imo.

Jellicent really needs Leftovers > Lum Berry. I'm really not sure what Lum Berry does aside from avoid Toxic once, but Taunt kinda already prevents that, so the marginal recovery of Leftovers is very much preferred instead. I would also give it a physically defensive spread since its typing is much more useful for taking on physically-based Pokemon like Victini and Heracross.

You're team is actually fairly Hydreigon-weak, as the only thing that walls it is Umbreon, and it can't do much back. For this reason, I'd recommend Florges > Umbreon, since it does almost everything that Umbreon does while also keeping Hydreigon in check. Here is the set:

florges.gif

Florges (F) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 176 SDef / 252 HP / 80 Def
Calm Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy

The EVs let Florges survive 252 Latias's Psyshock after SR and a turn of Lefties, allowing it to always come out on top.

Finally, I would use Knock Off > Aerial Ace on Heracross, since Knock Off lets it cripple things like Doublade and Cofagrigus, Pokemon that would normally beat Heracross.

I hope my suggestions helped you ProjectShadow, and good luck with your team ^.^

Thanks for the suggestions, the only reason I run Lum Berry over leftovers on Jellicent was because for some odd reason I thought a team could only have 1 of each item. I run a similar Florges set with another team I use, so I may just take you advice and replace Umbreon even though I do like the potential threat of Foul Play.

i noticed that you are not using a mega. i was thinking meybe you could use mega houndoom over chandelure. they both have their merits but unboosted, mega houndoom is faster and it has nasty plot. also, their STABs have almost the exact same coverage so you arent missing much

On Jellicent, use Water Absorb>Cursed Body and Leftovers>Lum Berry. Also, Galv is OU.
Seconding Mega-Doom>Chandy.
Knock Off>Aerial Ace Heracross.
On Nidoqueen, use LO>Black Sludge. Much better, as Sheer Force cancels out LO recoil. Change the Def to SpAtk and a Modest Nature. Hope I helped! :)

I'm chiming in a bit late here but I can't say I agree with some of the changes mentioned above. From what I can see, you've built a bulky offensive team that relies on a lot of SpA pressure from Nidoqueen and Chandelure to set up a NP Celebi sweep, with ScarfCross thrown into the mix for some much needed speed. The main problem I see for this team is that you really have no way to get rid of Chansey, which is a huge thorn in your side. Scarf Hera is scarcely a solution as it is by far the easiest set to switch into meaning that Chansey will just scout you out with Protect then switch out. I also see your team having lot of issues with Crawdaunt which you simply cannot switch into. You're also somewhat weak to the numerous Fire-types in UU like LO Victini or Darmanitan which will blow past SpDef Jellicent and Nidoqueen with relative ease. For this reason I'm hesitant to second Rohail's suggestions of switching Umbreon for Florges as you just open your team more to those particular threats. Here are my suggestions :
  • Changes I agree with are definitely changing your Nidoqueen set to a more offensive one; the EVs posted by Rohail are probably the best ones in your case as it makes you that much less weak to Crawdaunt. This however means that you should run PhyDef Jellicent with Will-o-Wisp and Taunt over your current set which provides a much needed check to offensive Fire-types. I recommend a 48 Spd / 252 HP / 208 Def EV spread with a Bold nature which allows you to outspeed base 65 speed Pokemon (most notably Umbreon, Vaporeon and Chesnaught) and Taunt them. This set is a real pain in the neck to deal with for stall and especially gives you a reliable way to beat Chansey 1v1 which is awesome !
  • I feel like your Chandelure set is far from optimal. Honestly Specs Overheat sounds terrifying but if aiming to actually wallbreak then it won't do you any favors as Chandelure's main STABs are really exploitable. For this reason I recommend you try out a LO SubSplit Chandelure set which is utterly horrible to face for most SpDef walls (except like P2, unless you run Infiltrator of course) and will effectively aid your sweep far more easily.
  • Because your team has so much SpA pressure going on, I feel like running Baton Pass over Earth Power on Celebi could be very effective. While it means you won't be able to sweep as reliably with it, the ability to freely Baton Pass NP boosts to Chandelure and Nidoqueen grants you a much more flexible win condition.
  • Finally my most (?) controversial change would be replacing Scarf Heracross with Bulky CM Keldeo. What this does is give you what is still virtually a powerful physical Fighting STAB backed up by good speed, but also tying in much more with the rest of team by adding to the SpA front and giving you an excellent Crawdaunt switch-in.
Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Cursed Body (infinitely better on PhDef, beating Dragons one on one is far more useful than beating Crocune when you have NP Celebi)
EVs: 48 Spd / 252 HP / 208 Def

Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Taunt
- Will-O-Wisp

- Recover

Chandelure @ Life Orb
Ability: Flash Fire / Infiltrator
EVs: 184 Spd / 252 SAtk / 72 HP
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Pain Split

Keldeo @ Leftovers
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 SDef / 252 Spd (you can go for a more bulky EV spread - just calc to see how much you need to have random stuff like Amoongus's Giga Drain not break your sub at +2 or something lol)
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Scald
- Secret Sword

Celebi @ Leftovers (longevity is key here and I've already made the rest of your team very offensive)
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SAtk / 4 HP / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Psychic
- Nasty Plot
- Baton Pass

Nidoqueen (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 88 Spd / 252 SAtk / 168 HP
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Ice Beam

Overall I realize I may have changed the dynamics of your team a bit too much but I think it'll fare much better now. I was interested from the start by the fact that you had ways of beating the most common SpDef walls in the tier simply by switching around movesets a little (Jellicent > Chansey, Nidoqueen > Florges...) and then applying immense SpA pressure with basically your entire team. With NP Pass and Keldeo your team becomes much much more threatening late game than that ScarfCross could ever really be. You'll find that SpA spam teams with quickpass are kinda popular on the upper ladder and for good reasons as they can pull wins out of thin air with their versatility. Best of luck with this team ^^
