Bad first team

Hey guys!
I would like to hear your opinion about my current team.

Breloom @ Toxic Orb
Ability: Poison Heal
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Substitute
- Spore
- Focus Punch
- Stone Edge

I really like Breloom, since Gen 3 it is one of my favorite pokemon. I chose a very classic Breloom set, which basic strategy is "Spore - Substitute - Focus Punch", which works quite well against lots of stuff.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
- Will-O-Wisp
- Scald
- Recover
- Shadow Ball

Breloom has a Fire and Water weakness, which is covered by Jellicent. It being resistant against fire and immune against water, making it a perfect switch in. Will-O-Wisp as a stat move, Scald / Shadow Ball to get some damage in and Recover to use Jellicent as a staller. I am not sure about his moveset, to be honest.

Ferrothorn @ Leftovers
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 48 Def / 208 SDef
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Spd
- Stealth Rock
- Power Whip
- Leech Seed
- Gyro Ball

Next pokemon I really like: Ferrothorn. Its amazing typing is something I really enjoy. Being weak to Fighting and Fire is a big weakness tough. Ferrothorn sets up Stealth Rock and also gets some damage in (if necessary) with Power Whip and Gyro Ball.

Heatran @ Air Balloon
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Fire Blast
- Earth Power
- Roar
- Hidden Power [Electric]

Ferrothorns biggest weakness if Fire, so I chose Heatran to cover this weakness. I chose Hidden Power Electric to get a hit in against Water types. Roar is to get rid of annoying Baton Passers.

Alakazam @ Alakazite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Dazzling Gleam
- Shadow Ball

This is the mega pokemon of my team. It is mainly used as a special sweeper and as a counter against Dragons (Dazzling Dream + this high special attacks is very good against lots of dragons)

Thundurus (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Timid Nature
- Nasty Plot
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Thundurus is the second special sweeper in this team, his high Speed and access to Nasty Plot makes him very strong in my opinion.

Strategy
Well, I don't really have a strategy in this team. Basically see what my opponent does and counter it with my Pokemon. Breloom is the only one having a decent "strategy": Spore -> Substitute -> Focus Punch.

Known Issues
I think this team has too much special attackers, Breloom is the only attacker and I often find him dead too soon. Do you guys know how to fix this problem?
Another problem I'm often facing is Charizard-Y. I though Heatran would counter him pretty good, but him not having any effective move against Charizard makes him not very good in the long run.

I would be really happy to hear some feedback from you guys :)

Thanks :)

Well I didnt have too many games with this team yet, but from what I've experienced Charizard Y, Tyranitar and Gengar seem to be a problem, but I dont know if it is really the teams fault or my missplays :D

Well lets see. The first thing you should consider is sinergy. Alakazam has a ghost and dark weakness which no mon covers it. I would recomend that you put mandibuzz in place of jellicent. I am still new here I just see you doing a completely different team, sorry I cant help too much :/

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Roar
- Protect
Heatran does not need HP Electric. I understand that you want some coverage for water types but honestly you don't need it. You have a Jellicent/Breloom to take hits and also a Thundurus which can come in and scare the water type out. Thundurus can also take care of Ground weakness as well. You also want Lava Plume over Fire Blast. I have chosen Protect over Toxic/SR just so you can scout out moves and switch only if necessary. This may come in handy for Landorus-T when then U-turn predicting the switch. As for the Air Balloon you have Thundurus, Leftovers is much better.

Power 110

PP 8

Lava Plume is much better on Heatran. The fact that it has a 30% chance to burn and better accuracy and PP as well.

Alakazam @ Alakazite/Focus Sash/Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Modest Nature
- Psyshock
- Focus Blast
- Dazzling Gleam/Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
Don't get me wrong. Feel free to use this Mega if you want to but honestly no one uses all that much. They either go for Focus Sash/Life Orb Alakazam. As the the attacks I see the reason you have chosen Dazzling Gleam but honestly it is only going to be used to hit Dragons. Focus Blast already covers Dark Types. I think you should choose wisely between Calm Mind and Dazzling Gleam.

Jellicent @ Leftovers
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SDef
- Will-O-Wisp
- Scald
- Recover
- Toxic
It may seem strange running both Toxic AND Will-O-Wisp on one Pokemon but trust me. It comes in handy in more ways than one. When a none physical attacker is coming in you can predict than and go for Toxic so the rack up damage rather than Will-O-Wisp. Then proceed to Toxic/Recover stall them.

Breloom @ Focus Sash/Life Orb
Ability: Technician

EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Bullet Seed
- Spore
- Rock Tomb/Swords Dance
- Mach Punch

Your Breloom set is pretty outdated. A lot of problem with getting walled by things such as Trevenant and Aegislash although this set can't touch them too much as well. Substitute, you need to worry too much about sound-based moves now. Things like Hyper Voice Gardevoir/Sylveon will easily become a problem. I would personally Sash Breloom so you are sure to get a Spore on something. Mach Punch is for some priority. Bullet Seed/Rock Tomb because of the technician ability boost. Swords dance because you get the chance after something is asleep. Even if you only get one SD you are still hitting something hopefully hard with Tech + STAB Mach Punch.

Thanks guys :)

Darnell: Awesome tips, I'll try them out, but it seems to be a much better configuration.
You said, Mega-Alakazam is not used that much, do you have any suggestions for an alternative mega pokemon for this team, and what would could be replaced for it?

Max Carvalho: Swapping out Jellicent for Mandibuzz would leave a Water weakness in this team (Breloom, Ferrothorn and Heatran all got a Water weakness) - and Jellicent is immune to water.

No problem! As for the mega, you could keep Alakazam and use the set I showed but make it a Focus Sash. Would avoid getting swept since it has Magic Guard it will always have a sure Focus Sash, not taking any entry hazard damage. My suggestion would be replacing Breloom with Mega-Venusaur. Heatran and Mega-Venu is a pretty nice combination and cover eachother quite well in terms of weaknesses.
Venusaur @ Venusaurite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 SpA
Calm Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sythesis
- Leech Seed
- Sludge Bomb/Hidden Power Fire

Thank you for the suggestion.

But it seems like, I personally, am not able to use Venusaur on my team. It is an awesome Pokemon, but if I replace Breloom for him, the team lacks, in my opinion, a solid physical sweeper.

I additionally replaced Nasty Plot with Thunder Shock on Thundurus. Priority Thunder Shock is very good, and Alakazam with Calm Mind does simply a better job.

I understand what you mean with Breloom and for Thundurus do you mean Thunder Wave? If so I see no problem with it. Priority T-Wave is always nice.

Thanks guys :)

Hey breloom and ferrothorn resists to water. But jellicent is good and you can keep the tips darnell gave you. Anyway sorry for not helping too much, I didnt have the time to fix all mim sets. gl :)
