Victim of the Week: Ubers Edition

Spr_5b2_645T.png

Landorus-T (FOO'S) w/ Choice Band
EVs: 4 HP/252 Atk/252 Spe
Nature: Jolly/Adamant
-Superpower/Explosion
-3 Fillers (usually QuakeEdge w/ U-turn)

Step 1. Switch in on Arceus when it comes to play
Step 2. Use Superpower/Explosion.
Step 3. Arc takes 90%+ dmg, and can outright OHKO some of the time
Step 4. ?????
Step 5. Profit

Yeah, so Jolly Banded Lando-T superpower does 90% minimum to 80/0 EV E-killer. And since this is 0/4 Ekiller, Arceus doesn't stand a chance. Also, Drizzle Arceus AWP. NERF NAWO.

Yveltal @ Dread Plate
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SDef
Impish Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Toxic
- Taunt

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Arceus Extreme Speed vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Yveltal: 263-309 (57.6 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
+2 0 Atk Dread Plate Dark Aura Yveltal Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Arceus: 441-519 (99.3 - 116.8%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO

Yveltal's bulk totals up to be greater then Skarmory's o_O, which actually makes it a decent wall. At +2 with Stealth Rock, Arceus will always fail to OHKO Yveltal while it can OHKO back in return with Foul Play.

Yveltal's utility is not limited just to checking Extremekiller either. With Taunt and Toxic it can Stall break an opposing team pretty well. The invested physical bulk lets it be a pretty nice wall in general too. Just try not to get it burned by Ho-oh's sacred fire ;_;. Its an excellent choice for offensive teams that want to check Extremekiller without using an Arceus or letting some random Giratina or Scizor Defogging their hazards away.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SAtk (or 4 Atk)
Impish / Bold Nature
- Protect
- Earthquake / Scald
- Toxic
- Recover

This is the best Ekiller counter in the meta. Ekiller cannot touch it while Quagsire recover+protect toxic stalls it to death. Quagsire is also a fantastic Blaziken counter, so that's the other thing going for it. Not much to say about this, except that Ekiller is completely screwed when Quagsire's on field.

TANK WEEZING @ Kee berry
252hp/252def/4SpD
Bold Nature
- Clear Smog
- Toxic
- Will O wisp
- Pain split

Able to tank anything from ekiller and then proceed to pain split/toxic stall to guarantee the win. Incase some other fucks decide they can switch in on champion weezing, it can proceed to poison/burn the switch as well. Overall a very solid check to ekiller since thanks to clear smog, weezing cannot realistically lose to ekiller :) not to mention it's pretty fucking sexy.

edit: fix'd with proper nickname and pic.

Tank Weezing (F) @ Leftovers

EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature (+SDef, -Atk)
- Clear Smog
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split
- Toxic Spikes
I play Weezing for moves
Pain split
Wil-o- wisp
Toxic/toxic spikes
Fire blast/venoshock

Giratina @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spd
Bold Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Roar/Dragon Tail
- Will-O-Wisp
Even though it isn't as good as before, Giratina is still a good EKiller counter, able to take a +2 shadow claw with ease, burn it, or roar/dragon tail it out, not taking much damage. It also manages to stall EKiller out until it dies from burn damage with WoW and RestTalk. It also manages to wall other threats, and the ones that it can't can be easily dealt with teammates, but its main role is to counter ekiller so I'm not complaining about other pokemon.

Skarmory @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spdef
Impish nature
-Toxic
-Spikes
-Counter
-Roost

Well, Skarm here is the best counter. Literally, LOL. It takes any attack (bar Problem's Overheat ekiller) from ekiller easily, and can counter, set up, or toxic it and roost stall right back at it.

Omastar @ Choice Specs
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 SAtk / 4 Def
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Surf
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power

252+ SpA Choice Specs Omastar Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Arceus in Rain: 348-411 (91 - 107.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

RIP Swords Dance Arceus-Normal ;~;

  • Relies on 5 turns of rain to check one of the biggest threat
  • Ekiller outspeeds and KOs with +2 Earthquake
  • Have to sacrifice Kyogre if rain is not already up
  • Most run bulk on Ekiller
  • RIP 6th gen Omastar

Well this is a thread where you are suposed to post counters and since it get KO:d by EQ+E-speed on the switch in its not great :/

It actually lives EQ+ESpeed from non-Life Orb variants, and Life Orb has to predict perfectly. Not a counter (a lot of mons mentioned already are not), but certainly a very viable check.

EDIT: Actually EQ + ESpeed kills if SR is up. My bad, but it's still a nice check / revenge killer

You can post checks too, and Omastar is certainly a very good check
Sorry but then you might wanna change the OP ;) And I would not say that Omastar is a very good/viable check this gen with the weather nerf and LO is more common plus that EQ is used over Brick Break this gen. But I guess It can be alright on some heavy offense team.

Victim of the Week #5The Victim of the Week for week #5 is one of the newer Pokemon around the block: Yveltal. Although still wet behind the ears, Yveltal has already established itself as one of the premier Pokemon in the Generation 6 Ubers metagame. An incredibly effective versatile Pokemon, Yveltal is truly a Pokemon to be feared.

Yveltal @ Life Orb

Zekrom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Spd / 252 Atk / 4 SAtk
Naive / Naughty Nature
- Bolt Strike / Fusion Bolt
- Draco Meteor
- Dragon Claw
- Sleep Talk

Able to switch in on any of Yveltal's attacks and OHKO with Bolt Strike or Fusion Bolt the next turn, this is a great check. It's my favorite Choice Scarf user as it can provide excellent revenge killing potential against Ho-Oh, Kyogre, does massive damage to Lugia (since it ignores Multiscale) while also being good sleep fodder for Darkrai should you fear the Dark Void from it. Draco Meteor is for the Ground-types you fear may switch in as you can hit them on the switch, as you do great damage and can then go from there. Yveltal can win if it Dark Pulses as you switch in and then Sucker Punches you the next turn, so it may be best to use it as a revenge killer.

252 Atk Teravolt Zekrom Bolt Strike vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Yveltal: 548-648 (139.4 - 164.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Teravolt Zekrom Fusion Bolt vs. 0 HP / 0- Def Yveltal: 422-500 (107.3 - 127.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

xerneas.gif

Xerneas @ Leftovers
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SDef / 4 Def
0 Atk IVs
Calm Nature
- Moonblast
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Aromatherapy / Roar

Xerneas is a pretty bulky mon, with base 126 / 98 defenses it can easily shrug off most of Yveltal's attacks, especially if it has investment in Special Defense. Moonblast even without investment thanks to Fairy Aura and its reasonably high Special Attack stat will OHKO Yveltal whereas Yveltal's strongest move against it, Hurricane, will barely 3HKO it. Its next strongest move, Oblivion Wing, barely 4HKOes. Factor in Hurricane's accuracy issues and you've pretty much got a wonderful counter. Xerneas can do stuff other then wall Yveltal too though. It can serve as a cleric for the team with Aromatherapy or it can serve as a last minute Power Herb Xerneas check by running Roar. if Xerneas feels pressured by Yveltal's onslaughts it can simply Rest off the damage. Its walling utility goes so far to the point where it can even wall Choice Specs Palkia given rain isn't up (in rain it can only wall AV Kia). Just keep it safe from Mega Gengar... or be a troll and run Psychic in the last moveslot.

Overall a solid Special Sponge that not only checks Yveltal but can also provide solid support to a team.

tyranitar.gif

Tyranitar @ Leftovers / Chople Berry
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 8 Atk (or Def)
Careful Nature
move 1: Stealth Rock / Crunch
move 2: Pursuit / Crunch
move 3: Toxic
move 4: Stone Edge

Tyranitar with Sand Stream ability on is one of the most specially bulky Pokemon in the game and this set clearly shows it. Yvetal which doesn't carry fighting move like Focus Blast can't even scratch this Tyranitar with those moves anytime soon. Oblivion Wing with Sandstorm literally scratches this version of Tyranitar barely beating pathetic 10% of dealt damage with Oblivion Wing. Hurrican is barely stronger and it has really shaky accuracy so I wouldn't rely on it anytime soon. Once Tyranitar switches in it may throw in Toxic and continue attacking with Stone Edge, which should secure 1vs1 win against this version of Yvetal for sure. Of course utility of SpD Tyranitar doesn't end up here - Tyranitar is capable of checking more than few Pokemon which you may meet in Ubers tier like Reshiram, Non-Specs or Non-Mixed Palkia, Ho-Oh (burn sucks, but outside of it you are decent check unless you eat up CB Earthquake), some Calm Mind Arceus forms (like Dark, Ghost or Fire) and mostly he is capable of Pursuit trapping MegaGengar (and Gothitelle as well which is pretty popular on highest levels on Ubers play) which many teams despise because of nasty Shadow Tag trapping ability. Heck, if desperately needed (and Tyranitar is healthy) he is also capable of tanking +1 Aura Sphere coming from MegaMewTwo Y/Life Orb MewTwo and hit them hard back with Dark type move. Moveset is pretty self-explanatory and it does exactly what it shows. Stealth Rock is your main utility move and deals great passive damage as long as you can keep it up around the field. Pursuit or Crunch + Stone Edge are your STAB attacks which hit decently hard even without investment thanks to Tyranitars good base attack and smack hard all targets you need to check/counter. Toxic is also great move on this Tyranitar version, as you may not only stall out some targets you counter with Leftovers on, but also hit your counters on switch crippling them for the rest of the match (Groudon for example hates Toxic, Fighting Arceus as well unless he carries Refresh, etc.). In overall all around good support Pokemon for Ubers tier.

EVs: 252 HP / 162 SpD / 96 Spe
Timid Nature
- Judgment
- Recover
- Defog
- Will-o-Wisp / Toxic / Stone Edge / Earthquake

A simple support fairyceus that laughs at whatever offensive yveltal tries to pull off. Fairyceus resists dark stabs and shrugs off hurricanes that only 3hkos Fairyceus. I decided to cut down slashes compared to grassceus (I did go overboard a bit). WoW is generally the best choice, since that cripples the steels that Fairyceus attracts. However, toxic prevents Fairyceus from becoming a set up bait and targets Ho-Oh. Stone Edge and Earthquake are for nailing the threats: Mega Gengar and Ho-Oh. The crippling weakness to the two of biggest threat in metagame is not good, however with minimal support, fairyceus can become an incredible spd wall that demolishes dragon-centric meta. Also, fairyceus hits xerneas harder due to Fairy Aura boosting Judgment.

I love Fairyceus. It has a extremely strong likelyhood of beating any Yveltal set, Specs, Scarf, Bulky, Life Orb, and more. It's a generally awesome support Pokemon, that provides both utility and offensive pressure. I personally like running this set:

Arceus-Fairy @ Pixie Plate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Speed
Timid Nature
- Recover
- Judgement
- Will-o-Wisp
- Roar

Recover is just that, reliable recovery and health restoration for this wall set. Judgement is a vicious stab option that does heavy damage to Yveltal and anything else weak to Fairy. Will-o-Wisp lets Fairyceus comfortably check physical threats like Zekrom, Groudon, Ekiller to an extent (watch out for Lum ones), and even Aegislash. Finally, Roar acts as an emergency set up sweeper stopper, lets one get around substitute users, and rack up passive damage when used with hazards.

Overall, great call orch. When looking for a Yveltal counter, this is one of the top Pokemon.

Arceus Rock @ Stone Plate
252 HP/252 SpDef
-Judgment
-Will-o-Miss
-Recover
-Defog

EVs are p standard iirc. Will o miss is for burning any possible switchins (groudon, lando t, etc.)
Defog is ofc for defogging, and Judgment hits for some nice Super-Effective damage :>

klefki.gif

Klefki @ Light Clay
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 HP / 6 Def / 252 SDef
Calm Nature
- Dazzling Gleam
- Light Screen
- Reflect
- Spikes
Walls Yveltal's attacks. Dazzling Gleam can 2HKO Yveltal after Stealth Rock. 3HKO without it. This set also has priority Light Screen which can save you from Focus Blast if your opponent runs that. Swagplay might work but it's not as reliable due to Taunt.

Carbink @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Stone Edge
- Toxic
Dark Pulse only 4HKOes you after Stealth Rock, while you 2HKO in return with Stone Edge after SR and LO recoil. Fares poorly against Taunt variants and outright loses to Taunt + Roost variants, making Carbink a check at best.

Diancie @ Leftovers
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 252 SDef / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Careful Nature
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
- Diamond Storm
- Toxic
Even though it isn't released, Diancie is probably the best counter to Life Orb Yvetial in the game. Diamond Storm 2HKOes it even without SR, while Dark Pulse only 4HKOes it like it does with Carbink.
