Try a slow U-Turn user. Or Baton Pass a Substitute.

I was considering a Vaporeon for my team, so I guess that can work out.

However, the only viable slow U-Turn user I can think of at this moment is Scizor (well, unless I do something silly like giving a Macho Brace to Jirachi).

Any other recommendations? Thanks for the help so far! :)

Mesprit is pretty slow. Jirachi with a low IV in speed and no EVs is slow too.

My friend uses a lame SkarmBliss, and I was wondering how to counter it. Magnezeonc can kill Skarmory, but wouldn't Skarmory just Whirlwind it out on the switch-in? (No taunt either to stop it.) Analysis also says that a netural nature and some attack EVs are required to OHKO Blissey with Explosion. Don't know what kind of EV spread would be requried for that. Otherwise, how would I counter Blissey?

Things like CBHeracross easily beat them both, so do other strong fighters like Medicham.

I wouldn't worry about getting Whirlwinded on the switch, since most Skarmory don't use Whirlwind on their furst turn active.

You can just use Explosion with Atk EVs to kill Blissey, or wear it down with other special attackers a little; Modest with no Atk EVs (and 31IV) does a minimum of 435, so if you have like... Stealth Rock and a Choice Specs Salamence Draco Meteor, you should be able to kill it.

Dugtrio works I guess, though Ice Beam can be trouble.

Question #1:
After reading this thread here: Smogon Thread

1. How many people would actually go through with a trade and/or battle if they been informed by the other player who going to trade and/or battle them that his pokemon have been sharked/hacked but are within the legit bounds(510 EV limit, legal movesets, etc...)

Question #2:
What is the max number of Battle Points you can have on that point card?

1. People will battle with you, but chances are they won't trade.

2. I don't know; ask Robo Mike! :)

I finished EV-training my Floatzel yesterday (YAY) without Pokerus or a Macho Brace, it took forever, but now I'm stuck with my last move.

Floatzel @ Jolly. 248atk/82hp/180spd
Waterfall / Crunch / Ice Fang / ???

Right now, I have it as Aqua Jet, but I'm not sure if I should put Bulk Up (like in the analysis) or if I should use Pursuit. Does anybody have a suggestion?

Okay, hello fellows, new european gamer here, and I'm trying to get around to wraping my head around all those concepts I've had to understand those past two days (last poke game I played was Red on the original gameboy so... yeah, seems like things have changed a bit in poketown).

So I had this savegame where I just finished the game but then I read about all those little things that end up making a difference, like IV, nature and EV. So I looked at my jolly Dialga, who had been fighting all kind of random shit because I was too lazy to train something else (it's EVs were probably all over the place) and I was like... "OH NOES MY LEGEND :(". So I restarded a new game and this time I plan to keep all found legendary in a tiny little box until I get myself to training them.

There are a couple of things (actually, a lot more than a couple) that I was longing to ask people here and well, I thought I just might as well do it in this thread rather than do a new one and piss everyone off. So here I go.

1# So I'm trying to wrap my head around this EV thing, but there are things I still don't understand. Like, the EV will start raising from the first battle the pokemon faces from then on ? So any excess point over the limit (510 was it ?) will be discarded, right ? I'm just looking for confirmation on this one. So like, my previously mentionned Dialga was pretty much screwed metagame-wise (well, it had more to do with it being jolly...), am I correct ?

2# I've heard people say you can "Pal park" masterballs to have more than what you normally would've. But how so ? By equiping them on the pokemon you transfer ? Do they still wear it when you capture them ? And even so... wouldn't it just make one more ? I've heard people implying that in Emerald they could have more than one.

3# Where the FUCK are fire, lighting and water stones in this version ? I can't buy any anywhere. I want my fucking Golduck :(

4# That whole honey tree thing... how long am I supposed to wait exactly ? >_> And how do I get more honeys ?

5# This one is a little more complex... see I'm just recently getting interested in the metagame, but like I said, this is basically my first time into a "real" pokemon game. So i'm like in front of this 490+ selection, looking at those hundreds of different moves and I'm like... "Okay, fuck." Basically, I wanted to know... how do you constitute a team exactly ? How do you balance the roles of your pokemons ? I've understood that there are such things as tanks, sponges, sweepers (those that deal damage I think ?), stallers... I can understand how they work individually, but I'm a little lost as to how to put six of them together and to say "This will work." So if anyone can spare some metagame basics on me, I'd be most gratefull.

Well, that was pretty long. Thank you in advance for your time.

2. Okay I'll ask him/her.

"Him/her?" Ok, despite the avatar, my name is Mike.

Anyway, I'm willing to bet the max battle points is 9999, since I just went over 1000.

(snip)

1. Yes EV's will go up from the first battle. Any excess over 510 total or 255 in a stat will be discarded. Dialga should ideally have a nature that boosts Special Attack or Speed and cuts Attack.

2. Equip items to your Pokemon before transfer, you can clone crap on Emerald. There's a youtube video and a gamefaqs guide for that.

3. Dig underground.

4. A tree should start rustling 6-8 hours after you slather the bark. Probably up to 12 hours after.

5. Try to have a balance in types (don't share a weakness, sweepers should have different types of moves for coverage), roles (not all sweepers, for example), and have some utility or status moves (Rapid Spin, Taunt, T-Wave). Finally it is recommended to have an overall strategy (ex. the goal of your team could be to set up Gyarados)

1. Correct

2. Cloning Glitch at the Battle Tower

3. a) Golduck doesn't evolve by Water Stone, Psyduck to Golduck is at Lv. 34. b) Underground. You get the Kit in Eterna City, next to the Poke Center.

4. 12 hours. You can buy more from the guy you saved, or from Combee's ability.

5. Well, it takes awhile to understand the synergy of a team, but most start off of one Poke, and then it goes like "Okay, what counters this, and what counters the counter? Will Status effects really help me? What's my central strategy? Okay, if they send out a Special Sweeper, then I'll counter with [Usually Blissey]!"

Is there any way that ditto can get moves other than transform? (say by fainting during battle, or something relatively obscure) or am I right in believing that that's impossible?

Strange rumors floating around....

There was a glitch in the Japanese version that would let Ditto keep moves after he's transformed, but it's not in the U.S. version of the game.

Got a scenario for ya, I want you to tell me what happens next:

whatever uses whatever!
Breloom used Substitute!
breloom was badly poisoned by the toxic orb!

Enemy switched out to swellow!
Breloom uses leech seed! *misses*
*recovers HP with poison heal*

I switch out to Blissey!

Swellow uses whatever

Swellow uses whatever again
Blissey uses Aromatherapy!
A soothing aroma wafted through the area.

I switch out to Breloom.
Swellow uses whatever.
...and then what? Would the toxic orb poison Breloom again?

I'm having a hard time breeding for 31 IVs with an egg move! ANd adamant
I don't know how to go about getting the final thing with 31 in attack and speed since thats all I'm worried about.
Since only the males can pass pursuit down what if I hatch a female with the 31 IVs!? can someone give me some advice. :justin:
i already have the dittos and pursuit male
