My First Pokemon team!

I've been wanting to get into competitive play ever since I realised how easy it was to finally breed good Pokemon in X and Y. However, I haven't really had the time to EV train and level up the plethora of Pokemon I have and therefore decided to start using Pokemon Showdown (I'm stupid for not using it earlier).

Anyway, I'm going to ask you to rate the team I've made for Showdown. Please note this is my first time EVER battling competitively so this team will probably have some glaring problems (and hence why I'm asking for help).

Also, I've played 5 games so far on Showdown (winning all 5 and getting me a rank of 1185) and I'm using that experience to comment on my team and its strengths/weaknesses.

Bisharp @ Air Balloon
Ability: Defiant
Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/ 252 Atk/ 4 Sp Def

- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock

He's easily my most valuable Pokemon in my team. Bisharp leads all the time, sets up rock and then I proceed to Knock Off before switching to a more suitable Pokemon depending what's on the other side. Sucker Punch and Pursuit are pretty self-explanatory. Bisharp just deals so much damage and resists so many things. I can't see much wrong with him tbh. Air Balloon hasn't helped me yet.

Aegislash @ Leftovers
Ability: Stance Change
Quiet Nature
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/ 4 Sp Atk

- Shadow Sneak
- Iron Head
- Shadow Ball
- Destiny Bond

Obviously Aegi is one of the best Pokemon in OU and I like the standard mixed set I'm using at the moment. Shadow Sneak is a must and helps deal with clearing up Pokemon after you've caused major damage to them. Iron Head is to deal with fairies. Shadow ball is just so good and deals with so many physically defensive Pokemon. Kings shield is probably the only move that I'm in doubt about. I always seem to predict wrong with it. Air Balloon hasn't helped me yet.

Thundurus-I @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Timid Nature
EVs: 252 Sp Atk/252 Spd/4 HP

- Taunt
- Thunderwave
- HP Ice
- Thunderbolt

A pretty standard Thundurus. Taunt and Thunderwave are probably the most vital moves on Thundurus thanks to its ability. I've got the stab move in Thundebolt and HP Ice to deal with any Ground/Dragon Pokemon. I don't feel Leftovers is the right item for it though...

184.png

Azumarill @Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Adamant
EVs: 252 HP/252 Atk/4 Sp Def

- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough

Your standard Azumarill here. Priority is rampant in this meta game and Aqua Jet is lovely on Azumarill thanks to its already amazing attack, ability and Belly Drum. I've only managed to get Belly Drum off effectively once out of 5 matches but the other 3 moves are still powerful enough to deal massive damage to the opposition.

113.png

Chansey @Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
Bold
EVs: 252 Def/252 Sp Def/4 HP

- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Toxic
- Seismic Toss

This is my second favourite Pokemon on the team. It causes huge problems to any special attacker. Deals with Charizard Y brilliantly. The basic pattern is to Toxic and Protect until the opposing Pokemon is switched out.

663.png

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
Jolly
EVs: 252 Atk/224 Spd/32 HP

- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- U-Turn

Talonflame is absolutely insane. Priority Brave Bird is so overpowered. It deals with so many things and Talonflame annihilates Mega Scizor. Roost is maintain this majestic bird.. U-Turn is there to keep the momentum going and is a great way to get damage off on Greninja before switching out into something that will deal with that impending water attack.

So the team is pretty decent in my opinion. But the glaring problems for me is that it has no way to deal with hazards and Stealth Rock kills my Talonflame. I also think I'm missing out on some extra power from a mega Pokemon but which one do I use?

I hope I haven't fried your brain with my noobiness. But this is my first time trying out competitive play and I'd appreciate any help given.

EDIT 1: Have made a few changes thanks to a couple of comments (mainly to Chansey and Talonflame).

I've played a few more games and lost two of them thanks to Stealth rock killing my Talonflame and Taunt/Wish messing my Chansey about.

I'm also going to test out Zapdos (mainly for Defog) over Thundurus and see if that yields me better results.

Some little fix:

Chansey @Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
Bold
EVs: 252 HP/252 Def/4 Sp Def ---> 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef

- Aromatherapy
- Soft Boiled ---> Wish
- Toxic
- Protect

With this EVs spread, u maximize the bonus from eviolite. Chansey already has a lot of HP.
If u run protect, u should run wish over softboiled. In this way u can pass wish and heal other mons.
Probably u should replace aromatherapy with heal bell (they are 2 breeding moves, if i remember well).

Talonflame @ Life Orb --> leftovers/sky plate/ flame plate /what u want
Ability: Gale Wings
Jolly --> Adamant
EVs: 252 Atk/252 Spd/4 HP -- > 252 Atk / 224 Spd / 28 HP

- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Roost
- U-Turn

The life orb is propably the worst item for talon. U already post hp with 2 stab moves. Lost 10% of health for killing a pokemon with 1 HP is meh. U don't neeed the jolly nature: with this EVs spread u can outspeed jolly megapinsir's quick attack.

Life orb/leftovers/dead plate is the best choice for sharp. SR on him is totally original.

This is a nice aggressive team, with 3 priority, maybe weak against fight/conkeldurr. U need a spinner/defogger, but this is your first team, so i cannot tell u to replace mons (maybe u can try zapdos for thundurus, same EVs spread/nature with t-bolt/HP ice/defog/heat wave).

I would consider running seismic toss over protect on chansey, it gives it a way to Deal with steel types that can't be toxic'd and prevents it from being taunt bait along with being able to do consistent damage. Also you may want to consider changing your ev spread to 4 HP, 252 Def, 252 Sdef as this gives it overall better bulk due to its naturally high uninvested HP stat. Hope this helps

Thank you for the suggestions. I've made the changes to my team and I think I will run Zapdos over Thundurus as I've played a few more games and my Talonflame has been useless because of Stealth rocks.

Only problem is that Wish is apparently incompatible with one of the other moves on Chansey. I don't know which one though.

Thanks for the Seismic toss suggestion. I've played a few more games and I've struggled with Chansey because of Taunt and the use of Wish.

Do I need to use a mega Pokemon or is it feasable to get by without one in OU?

Wish is probably incompatabile with aromatherapy due to wish being an event move and aromatherapy being an egg move. It is feasable not to use a mega but they can help a lot, your team looks pretty solid however so you should be alright. If you notice something is giving you a lot of trouble however then you may want to get a mega that counters whatever is giving your team trouble

Which is better for this team, Wish or Aromatherapy?

I think my team struggles to wall physical Pokemon effectively. Plus, I'm pretty bad at predicting moves so I'll end up putting out my Bisharp against a Malimar expecting everything to be okay only for it to use Superpower. I guess that comes from experience.

I wrote it in my post the problemi with aromatherapy: u should run:
Chansey @- eviolite
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Def / 252 SDef
Bold nature
- Heal Bell
- Wish
- Toxic
- Protect

Heal bell = aromatherapy (same PP)

Every players has problems with a new meta. Keep playing, and read here http://www.smogon.com/forums/forums/overused.281/ or here http://www.smogon.com/forums/threads/threat-list-inside.3491132/ if u have doubt.

Sorry, I skimmed over your post and missed it. Thanks for the suggestions.

Yeah that all comes with experience, this is my first gen playing competitive and when I first started I sucked, now a few months later I am fairly knowledgeable and win the majority of my games. Also if you ever want to add a mega to help with physical Pokemon try this -
Charizard @ Charizardite x
Adamant nature
248 HP, 32 Atk, 188 Sdef, 40 Spe
Dragon claw
Earthquake
Will o wisp
Roost

It completely shuts down a lot of the main physical threats with will o wisp and can KO them back then while roosting off any pitiful damage they get off and with that plus the special defense evs it can wall a large portion of the top OU threats.
