Working hard on my CAP art submission, so I should be online for at least awhile longer to trade.
Let's say I have a Ditto with the necessary HP IVs for the type I want (let's use grass as an example). How would I go about checking the non-31 IVs (Defense in this case) to ensure they are not lower? Also, assume that the 31 IVs and HP type are already checked and correct.

Firstly, I'd check it with the hidden power guy.
Then, I'd take it to the battle institute. Save then enter with the pokemon you need checked. Memorise which IVs are which at 30, then once you get a pokemon that possibly is what you're attempting to get (right ability, HP type and IVs at 31) take it to the battle institute and continue until you get the mon you need.
At least that's my method, anyway.

The stats on the shiny are pretty terrible, so i think a spitback is only fair. Either standard ability is fine.
