Will we ever see a good sequel to Donkey Kong 64?

So, recently in the latest issue of Nintendo Power, in the upcoming games list, they had Super Mario Galaxy and a new Donkey Kong racer listed next to each other, and it got me thinking. If Super Mario 64 is getting the true heir it deserves, why not Donkey Kong?

says hi.

Hey, I'm not the only one who liked DK64. I remember I was fighting the 3rd boss jack in the box guy at a new year bash in 1999/2000 and the power went out at 12:00 midnight and everyone screamed, then we figured out it was just some drunk guy screwing with the circut breaker for a good prank. I had to restart the boss, I was PISSED.

Some bosses I never figured out how to beat, like that one that jumped around through those colored panels. I couldn't get through the second phase of that battle. I'd love to see a new Donkey Kong Wii game that isn't a racer or some other spin-off.

If they do make a new one, I hope they at least learn from their mistakes in DK64 and don't make another collect-athon.

wasn't DK64 made by Rare? I guess if there is going to be a DK64 sequal it would have to be made by a different company... since Rare is owned by Microsoft now, isn't it?

On that note, I am soooo psyched for the new Banjo Kazooie game... the old ones were two of my all time favorite games

Come back with a game that isn't crap and we'll talk.

I find it funny that your avatar (and username, and 1/3 of your signature) is for a game being developed by the same people who made the game you just called crap.

Did you even give it a try?

Oh, so if it's made by the same people its the same quality. that makes loads of sense. Loads.

Oh yeah, Banjo-Threeie is going to be off the chain.

I loved DK64, it was like a harder Super Mario 64. Lanky Kong was the man!

Super Mario Sunshine needs the respect it deserves. I love that game. ):

Really, I don't care for a DK64 sequel, I'm fine with the Bongo games.

Don't get me wrong, I own and love Sunshine, but it didn't have what it takes to be the true heir of SM64. It was only equal, if not less then what SM64 was, and the fact that SMS had the power of the next gen system past the N64 and it could barely equal SM64 and not surpass it only added to the injuries.

Donkey Kong 65...

Anyway, i doubt it...you can't make a sequel better than a classic. That was such an AWESOME game (minus the drunk Jack In the Box and the farting oraguutan (sp?))

That sounds like sarcasm, so I'm going to take it as sarcasm. Your post now makes no sense. Do you expect different quality out of the same people? It's not the franchise that matters, its the people working on the game.

Pokemon in the hands of Game Freak? Awesome.
Pokemon in the hands of Genius Senority? Horrible.

Pokemon in the hands of Game Freak? Awesome
Drill Dozer in the hands of Game Freak? Awesome (or so I hear, I missed out on the game when it was $10 and haven't wanted to spend more on it x_x)

Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is a good game. I'm assuming the TC just never played it because it was "lol bongos". It's interesting that this forum is so different from others though. A lot of people I know hate DK64 for being a boring collect-o-thon while love Jungle Beat for its awesome platforming and combo systems.

I also can't wait for Banjo 3. One of my most anticipated 360 games for sure =)

Edit: Screw you, Lanky Kong > Scyther.

I kind of liked the collect-a-thon...but I suppose that's more of a personality thing than anything else.

Either way, Nintendo needs to get on it and finally make a real Donkey Kong game. =\

And the Kong Crew was cool dude. I wish they were in Smash...all 5 and their moves in the game seem to be a perfect fit in SSBB.

DK64 was kind of fun sometimes, but by no means a classic... Not that Donkey Konga or Jungle Beat ARE classics, but they deserve just as much merit as DK64....

Also... the PM Firestorm arguement.... you both kind of seem to be taking extremes to the arguement.... I mean just because a company has made good games before doesn't mean they will always make good games, but a company that makes bad games shouldn't be expected to start making good ones...

Is there any info on Banjo 3's release date or anything... I'm really fucking excited for it...

I saw that trailer where the hand that draws them and stuff, and banjo and kazooie looked a little weird, but I don't care as long as the game play is similar to bk64

2008 is what I expect (then again, it's Rare so 2010 wouldn't be too bad of a guess -_-). I think we'll hear more information at the X08 event.
