This is the team that I have been using recently. Most of the Pokemon on my team are there because they are my favorites and just so happen to be useful in battle. I added Klefki not too long ago and it really made a nice addition to my team. I have used this team in both singles and doubles and it seems to be equally effective in each. My biggest issue in battle seems to be ferrothorn. I need to find a way to deal with that either by swapping one of my pokemon or giving a fire move to something, the question is what. Basically my strategy in singles and doubles is fairly similar. Klefki, screens and twaves, possible switch into galvs if they are just trying to set up. Klefki helps things live longer and get a chance to set up and has become an incredibly useful partner. Galvantula sticky webs to slow opponents and then sweep with buzz or thunder. Mega venusaur is a fatty who seeds, giga drains to restore hp, sludge bomb fairies and put stuff to sleep. The last three are basically my sweepers. They are my top three favorite Pokemon and it is hard to see a team of mine without them. Dragonite, Porygon-Z and Gengar are all powerhouses who pump or outspeed things with type advantage moves to effectively sweep. I have considered changing Porygon-Z out for an eviolite Porygon2, to help balance tanks and sweepers 3/3. Anyways here is the team.
*Team Updated 4/3/2014, added descriptions
**4hp/speed on all, accordingly.
Galvantula
Compound eyes, timid, 252 speed 252 spatk, Focus sash
thunder
bug buzz
Hidden Power Ice
sticky web
-It is one of the pokemon that in doubles, leads off with Klefki. It sets up a sticky web to slow down my opponents so that I can gain some advantage in speed. The entire team benefits from this as it helps for setting up and sweeping at the same time. After the web, Galvs acts as a sweeper. Hp Ice, for coverage, bug buzz and thunder for stab.
Klefki
prankster calm 252 hp the rest split between defs, light clay
light screen
reflect
foul play
thunder wave
-almost always the lead in singles. Prankster screens is OP, need I say more? Thunderwave plays a role in replacing galvantula's sticky web as a lead depending on match-up. Twave helps disable opponents on occasion and create time to set up.
Mega Charizard X
tough claws, Jolly, 252 speed, 252 atk CharizarditeX
Power-up punch
flare blitz
dragon claw
dragon dance
-Fills the void left by venusaur. Needed to get more fire coverage, power-up punch boots outrageously high attack even higher, dragon dance helps too. Flare blitz and dragon claw for stab. ppunch also helps for type coverage after a boost. one of two physical sweepers.
Porygon-z
Adaptability, timid, 252 speed 252 spatk, life orb
tri attack
ice beam
nasty plot
thunderbolt
-lots of versatility as a sweeper in regard to move pool. After one nasty plot it can deal with mostly anything, after two it becomes nearly impossible to stop, especially after thunderwaves and sticky web. The two nasty plots happens more than one would think because of the screens and speed advantages created by keys and galvs. My third favorite pokemon.
Gengar
Levitate, timid, 252 spatk 252 speed, black sludge
dazzling gleam
sludge bomb
shadow ball
energy ball
-Gengar is fast and has a wide move pool. It can out speed just about everything and is an amazing special sweeper along with porygon-z. Stabs off of sludge bomb and shadow ball, bomb to deal with fairies that mess with dragonite. generally a revenge killer due to it's lack of stat boost moves. Gleam deals with dragons, and is better damage from fairy moves than anything that could come from klefki and energy ball is there for more type coverage.
Dragonite
Multiscale, Adamant, 252 atk, 252 speed, weakness policy
dragon dance
outrage
earthquake
Extremespeed
-My favorite pokemon. Dragonite has been my favorite since gen 1 and has always had a spot on my team. It is one of my powerhouses. Dragon dance and weakness policy to buff, then smash face with outrage, quake and espeed. Has some bulk to it and is the second of the two physical attackers. I wouldn't say he is my MVP, only because after he faints, I usually am still in a position to come back from that, however, he has been clutch for me forever.
Anyways, please leave any helpful suggestions as to what I could do to improve on this team. It seems to be pretty good, but I know I could make it better without sacrificing the use of my favorite pokemon
