Beginner looking for insight on first competitive team

Hello everyone, thank you so much for looking in. I'm very new to competitive battle long, this generation being the first one i want to take it seriously. I don't have so much knowledge on what to really counter, so I kind of have this forced strategy who is very weak to taunt. I appreciate any suggestions, being a noble and all, and any insight will be greatly appreciated. Before we start, I will list the members of my team so you know what to expect before breaking them down.

The pokemons you'll be looking at are Smeargle, Skarmory, Tentacruel, Dragonite, Sylveon and Greninja. See something? Even though it has not been a problem, I technically have massive weakness to electric and there's very little I can do to them. I'm currently researching pokemon to swap, but I'll be honest, I have no idea who to swap. I was thinking of switching smeargle to heatran, but he's so useful. Any suggestions will be appreciated, and please let me know what other weakness I need to be aware of. Without further due, here's my team.

1. Timid own temple Smeargle, named Abomination.
Simple max hp, max speed holding focus sash
- Spore
- stealth rock
- sticky web
- spikes

I know complete taunt bait. I contemplated having fake out instead of spikes, however some people actually allow smeargle to set up and fake out fails on ghost and it can only be used once, and smeargle defenses doesn't let him live long. Yes on some occasion I could interrupt the opponent but not much damage. And the free spikes makes Skarmory's job much easier. I also run timid over jolly due to having faced battle against a sableye who only knew foul play. Stalling at its finest. Smeargle has yet to fail me, he always sets up at least one layer of hazards. I'm very wary of all defog users, and when that is the case, I try to save him for late game.

2. Impish sturdy skarmory, named RAWR!
Max defense and hp. Holds shed shell since she is allergic to magnezone.
- spikes
- roost
- brave bird
- whirlwind

Job is simple, finish what smeargle started and proceed to shuffle. RAWR! Doesn't like facing the same opponent, unless they can give her free roosts for longevity and stall out their PPs. Brave bird is there to kill heracross and other bug or fighting pokemon. I'm still doing damage calculations. I have used skarmory a lot and it has yet to fail me. However I seldom use brave bird, because the opponent never has given me a chance.

3. Timid Tentacruel, named Knock it Off
248 hp, 244 spdef, 16 speed holding black sludge
- rapid spin
- scald
- sludge bomb
- haze

Lol Wut? Anyway, he's my answer to those pesky dragon slashers, and here to keep my side of the field safe and absorb those pesky toxic spikes that was spreading disease to my team. I used to run knock off over haze, but in a stall war, haze will win me games, and prevent stored power clef able from being unkillable. Also most people are not expecting haze so they try to set up on it only to have their turn wasted. And more often than not people are greedy when they think they can set up all over tentacruel and I get a burn or poison lol. Also, before I had him, I used venosaur to take care of fairies, however I noticed that I needed a spinner to keep dragonite multiscale, and when I had talon flame on my team, no one helped more then tentacruel.

4. Careful Dragonite, named My Allergies!
Max hp, Max sp def, holding leftovers, multiscale
- thunder wave
- substitute
- roost
- dragon tail

Come again? Yes, this is my secret weapon. Sure it's gimmicking, but when people look at my team in preview, they expect him to come in and start dragon dancing. If skarmory goes down, he can still shuffles the team, specially unprepared teams. Sometimes, I use him as a lead and wreak havoc on unprepared teams. I have successfully walled azumarill who decided to switch in on him and if azumarill dares to belly drum thinking I'm going to switch out when I'm really going to to sub to be safe or use t-wave knowing I will outspeed next turn. I will then be faster than azumarill who will not be able to knock me out with aqua jet. I can roost, sub. Sure I can't dragon tail him, but Azumarill cannot kill me either. I'm going to out stall it and get rid of his pps. If there's no fairies, then my dragonite will suddenly have an allergic reaction to his opponent and dragon tail and proceed to paralyze everything that isn't immune to it. It also outstalls unaware quasire that has toxic. If you can't break my sub, you can't outstall me lol. I swear why isn't he used more often?

5. Jolly Sylveon, named Tinker
Max attack, max speed, pixilate holding leftovers
- heal bell
- skill swap
- return
- quick attack

You know what I hate? Gliscor. Yes poison me, here's an ability that's useless to you and thank you for the toxic that will heal me before you can kill me. Now Sure I'll have to switch eventually since my quick attacks aren't doing anything and neither are my returns. But you will have to switch as well if you don't want your wall to die, and I can heal the poison whenever I desire. Everybody wins. Oh, you have prankster? Wonder guard? Technician? Too bad, I want it now. Believe it or not, sylveon is tanky enough to survive a lot of physical hits due to her typing, so she can double as my clean up and cleric after what my team has accomplished, and heal my teammates from their wounds and cripple an opponent who relies on their ability. Gimmicky? Yes. Successful? Definitely!

6. Timid greninja, named Hitokiri
Max speed and special attack protean, expert belt
- hidden power fire
- ice beam
- extrassensory
- dark pulse

I needed a member who could clean up, or take care of threats. I had to look no further than my favorite starter and pokemon Greninja. He can go physical, he can go special. For this occasion, I needed special. Stab on everything is devastating. I used to run life orb, but decided to use expert belt for longevity. I don't have a wish passer since I made sylveon a physical clean up. So I needed a pokemon that could get rid of steel and poison. He can technically take care of birds if they don't resist ice beam. Dark pulse is there for coverage and the occasional flinch is nice and out speeding gengar is always nice. Dark pulse will kill gengar if he doesn't have a focus sash.

My team is seriously missing gliscor, who used to have knock off, earthquake, sub, protect. I am aware my team is weak to electric which make gliscors come back very welcome, but who to replace?

Please share your thoughts and knowledge I am dying learn more Thank you very much for looking in. Also, I will make this thread more pretty once I et access to my computer v.v

Sylveon's attack is one of its lowest stats. I'd suggest using a move from the special end of the spectrum, to use sylveon's good 110 SpA. Hyper voice gets the most power with pixilate and has the added bonus of passing through subs. Moonblast is another option that works great on special attackers, thanks to its 30% chance of lowering SpA.

Other than that, I don't see any huge issues. I like your dragonite set, btw.

Oh my, thank you much for the reply! I have been very anxious and checking the forum quite often trying to get some feedback. You are absolutely right about sylveons attack. Before I had tested the hyper voice set that everyone is using, which is amazing. She's also one of the slowest, I don't trust her to kill things, just annoy foes. Return does more damage than you expect, 3hko klefki after lefties.

Oh and thank you very much, if Greninja isn't needed, he's usually the MVP, I'm telling you, nothing annoys opponents more than support dragonite. Yes he's walled by fairies, but with the right prediction, they can't kill him. I have walled many azumarill, mawhile. Still want to try against togekiss and the other fairies. Sure he can't shuffle them but if tentacruel kills those pesky slayers, dragonite will infect everything with thunder wave that he can and proceed to do skarmories job. Yes skarmory is the better shuffler, but dragonite not only does passive damage, he wrecks up with dragon tail.

Actually, a Return on max attack Sylveon is a 4HKO after Leftover Recovery, and thats when the Klefki has no Defense EVs. A max special attack Hyper Voice 3HKO's after Leftover Recovery. Also, your sets should look like this...

Nickname (Pokemon) @ (Item)
Ability:
Nature:
EVs:
- (Move 1)
- (Move 2)
- (Move 3)
- (Move 4)

Smeargle should look like...

smeargle.gif

Abomination (Smeargle) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Own Tempo
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Spe / 252 HP / 4 Def
- Spikes
- Spore
- Stealth Rock
- Sticky Web

Thank you very much, I will be updating, since I notice my team can do nothing to chantey.

Also, how do you gt these sprites?

He gets them from Google. Also on Smeargle you should replace Spikes with Magic Coat(Has priority and when you use it things like taunt, hazards etc. will be bounced back). That way you won't be taunt bait anymore.Plus you probably won't be able to setup spikes and SR and Sticky Web with just a Smeargle.

I encourage you to put your team into the PS! teambuilder. Then, you'll be able to use the "Importable" format for your RMT.
