WA tournies organised by myself and Wstfgl

Although Wstfgl and I have been talking about this since JAO, with the DS connectivity we can now run tournaments. It will be in Standard Cup format (albeit a bad level cap, but it's stadium mode nonetheless)

What we need to discuss;
-Venue
(preferably with access to power points for DS chargers)
-Tournament Hierarchy

and any other stuff

It's Standard Cup because it's easy to enforce item clause, species clause, and it's essentially stadium mode with level 50s, but for sure it won't be knockout format.

PBR does all of that for you, and people have it on import. It is a bit slow though, so it all depends how many people we have. Of course, we could just have registration beforehand, though that means one person has to sit out to be a judge (I'll volunteer for that, I'm too old and busted to compete anymore!)

If we want a venue, UWA is probably as central as it can get. There's a half-assed thread about this on the Aussie-Nintendo forums, when I have more time on my hands I might try to put something together.

If it was only a few people then I'd offer up my house, but that's not exactly going to attract a large crowd due to issues of trust etc

A good idea, but this also requires TV's and the like, but PBR would be really good. I'm getting it once it comes out here, and I'm sure some other people (like Mooshu) would offer theirs too.

So let's decide on the Format then -
6v6 or 3v3
Single or Double (preferably single)
Item Clause - must
Species Clause - y/n?

And once we get this working I'm gonna post a little bit of info on Serebii and Pokerealm to get numbers and nooblets (not that I am registered on said forums) to play.

And i'll candy my current lvl 50 team to 100 tonight then too. :)

We going to run with Ubers or not?

I would prefer six a side (doesn't matter to me whether or not you play with all six or only present six and pick three), standard single rules otherwise with item clause.

whatever you guys organize, ill likely to be there since i only work evenings. and ill assume this will run on a weekend

So essentially what your saying is, that you are going to redo your whole team after you spent an hour @ the Connection Tour, candying them up to Lvl100.

LAWL!!

And thank god for a non knockout format, will it be round robin stylz

I'll talk with Simon about organizing this. If I talk him into helping arranging it and this actually happens, the following are likely:

Venues:
Bullcreek Community Centre - it's a very nice place and not far from a shopping centre so kids could be dropped off, access to power points

Equipment: Most battles would be on DS, possibly a TV and Wii with PBR showcasing one match each round.

Tournament Format: Swiss system with three tiebreakers, possibly with a top 8 cut based on standing after a number of rounds determined by attendance rate. Run by MANTIS (that's a good thing)

Dates: Saturdays

I must remind us all here that we must arrange all of the tournament structure and logistics before we decide on things such as rules and restrictions. Ultimately, if we do not do that correctly and do it well, formats aren't helpful.

Anthony, make sure Lvl 100 (I already have my team done :P) and make sure there's no ubers, if simon organises it.

Nice, i like the idea.

you might want to look a bit more centerally, becasue, unfortunately, there are people who live north of the river and it would lower numbers to have the tournament that far away from the train line, at the least.

anyone who can get to westfield can get to bullcreek

I would prefer non-uber because it would make it too unbalanced (mewtwo bolt-beaming everything).:cloud:

Well AFAIK it will almost definately be 6v6. It is a generally better format imo and most of the people i know that are coming are already organising for the 6v6 format.

does bullcreek have working train station or 10+ bus routes which go past it on a regular basis, at an acceptable time?
transperth.wa.gov.au/ is a pretty tricky URL to remeber I know.

Bullcreek will have a train station, one day. I know I catch the Circle Route bus to get there normally but several other lines go there too.

I'm assuming you will be able to attend provided we get these up and running RABicle?

Wstfgl: what's the current status with Simon?
