(RU) Bulky Offensive Team

To keep in mind, this team I am going to be breeded in game on X so don't recommend moves that aren't possible to get in game like Knock-Off on Gallade. My team is not full of walls like Aromatisse and Rhyperior but more with Pokemon with better offensive capabilities in order to provide save switch-ins and to easily take threats to one Pokemon on my team and take it out with another. One example of this is Rotom-C's weakness to Escavalier and Magmortar's ability to destroy it with a fire blast.

rotom-mow.gif

Rotom-C (PsychoCutter)
Timid @Choice Scarf
252 SPATK/252 SPEED/4 SPDEF with Levitate
-Thunderbolt
-Volt Switch
-Leaf Storm
-Trick

Choice Scarf makes Rotom-C a monster, being able to outspeed other choice scarfers or just faster Pokemon such as Swellow, Delphox (Non-scarf), Ambipom. Timid gives the advantage to be even faster and to outspeed another Rotom-C in a 1v1 or Pokemon such as Scarf Meloetta. Rotom's great defensive stats also make it a great tank and is easily switched in to dangerous Pokemon or ones that are already boosted.

Thunderbolt gives a good STAB move to hit flying threats like Moltres, Swellow, Braviary and Eviolite Golbat. A strong STAB makes it able to take out or heavily damage threats to the rest of the team like Moltres or bulky water types like Clawitzer.

252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Moltres: 290-344 (90 - 106.8%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO
252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Clawitzer: 278-330 (80.3 - 95.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Milotic: 210-248 (53.2 - 62.9%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Rotom-C Thunderbolt vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus: 306-362 (102 - 120.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Volt Switch makes Rotom-C a good lead Pokemon, with it's choice scarf it can outspeed a lot of Pokemon and if the match-up is not ideal Rotom can Volt Switch out and get some momentum going for the team while doing a fair bit of damage to the opponent.

252 SpA Rotom-C Volt Switch vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Escavalier: 64-76 (18.6 - 22%) -- possible 5HKO
252 SpA Rotom-C Volt Switch vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tyrantrum: 75-89 (24.5 - 29%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery

While Leaf Storm is Rotom-C's signature move, it's a great STAB move to have against ground types that switch in to Rotom after using an electric move such as Rhyperior, Gastrodon, Claydol and Gabite. After the Pokemon switches in, after a brief switch around a leaf storm can do a lot of damage to the oncoming Pokemon

252 SpA Rotom-C Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Assault Vest Solid Rock Rhyperior: 588-696 (135.4 - 160.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 SpA Rotom-C Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gastrodon: 864-1020 (202.8 - 239.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO
52 SpA Rotom-C Leaf Storm vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Claydol: 234-276 (72.2 - 85.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

The last slot for Rotom-C's moveset is Trick, although choice scarf makes rotom a great lead and a Pokemon that will easily outspeed and take out threats, trick makes it easy to cripple walls or stally Pokemon that are difficult for my team to beat such as Aromatisse (after Durant's death), Gligar (w/eviolite), and Ferroseed (also with Eviolite) and makes them a lot easier to take out.

durant.gif

Durant (Metallica)
Jolly @ Life Orb
252 ATK/252 SPEED /4 DEF with Hustle
-X-scissor
-Rock slide
-Iron Head
-Hone Claws

Durant is a monster. With it's amazing speed it rivals the fastest of Pokemon in RU like normal form Meloetta, Virizion, Delphox, Kabutops, and the Rotom forms. Life Orb gives Durant the boost to attack that he needs in order to deal massive damage to opponents; 109 base with Life Orb and Hustle, nothing wants to switch in to this. Durant also have a lot of defense which makes it easily switched into and able to set up against physical attackers.

X-scissor is one of the strongest bug type STAB moves and on durant it can do some serious hurt to some pretty bulky psychic types or just neutral damage does a lot with it.

252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Cresselia: 283-338 (63.7 - 76.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Uxie: 359-424 (101.4 - 119.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Reuniclus: 390-460 (91.9 - 108.4%) -- 50% chance to OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant X-Scissor vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Drapion: 208-246 (60.4 - 71.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery

Rock Slide gives durant great coverage and is a better move slot then Stone Edge because of its accuracy and chance to flinch, while also giving Durant great coverage it gives a check to his fire type weakness.

252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Rock Slide vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Delphox: 369-437 (126.3 - 149.6%) --
guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Magmortar: 393-463 (111 - 130.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Sigilyph: 338-400 (97.1 - 114.9%) -- 81.3% chance to OHKO

Iron Head is another great STAB move to have on Durant and its high chance of flinch can win games where you know you cant win, but you outspeed the opponent. Iron Head also gives check to fairy types such as Aromatisse and Slurpuff.

252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Aromatisse: 593-697 (146 - 171.6%) --
guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Slurpuff: 510-603 (166.6 - 197%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Solid Rock Rhyperior: 269-318 (61.9 - 73.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Carbink: 640-754 (210.5 - 248%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Durant needs the last move to be Hone Claws in order to work effectively, with the ability Hustle its accuracy is lowered but it stronger, so Hone Claws not only gets rid of the Hustle, but it gives a boost to Durant's attack creating a monster truck out of an ant.

+1 252 Atk Life Orb Hustle Durant Iron Head vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Cofagrigus: 243-289 (75.9 - 90.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery.

clawitzer.gif

Clawitzer (RockLobster) *shiny
Modest @ Choice Specs
252 HP/ 252 SPATK/ 4 SPEED with Mega Launcher
-Water Pulse
-Ice Beam
-Dark Pulse
-Aura Sphere

Clawitzer has amazing coverage with these four moves, and giving it modest makes it able to take down almost anything and timid is not needed at it is already super slow. It's ability Mega Launcher does make its moveset limited but it powers up a strong stab move and makes nothing want to switch into it. Choice Specs makes Clawitzer EVEN stronger and able to do massive amounts on damage. Clawitzer also has very good defenses and makes it a great switch-in to threats especially if it resists the move.

Water Pulse gets powered up by Mega Launcher and is a STAB move that does a lot of damage to anything that switches in, the move is great and the chance to confuse can help a lot in the long run of a battle. It can take out bulky Pokemon and threats easily aswell.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mega Launcher Clawitzer Water Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Claydol: 290-344 (89.5 - 106.1%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

Ice Beam doesn't get powered up by Mega Launcher but is needed in order to give Clawitzer a really good coverage and be able to hit Dragon-, Flying-, and Grass-types.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Clawitzer Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Assault Vest Tangrowth: 352-416 (87.1 - 102.9%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Clawitzer Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Amoonguss: 254-300 (58.7 - 69.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ SpA Choice Specs Clawitzer Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Tornadus: 368-434 (122.6 - 144.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Clawitzer Ice Beam vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Druddigon: 332-392 (92.7 - 109.4%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO

Dark Pulse lets Clawitzer be able to take on the sizable amount of Ghost-types and Psychic-types in RU such as Gourgeist and Cofagrigus.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mega Launcher Clawitzer Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Gourgeist-Super: 516-608 (137.9 - 162.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Choice Specs Mega Launcher Clawitzer Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Cofagrigus: 282-334 (88.1 - 104.3%) -- 31.3% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mega Launcher Clawitzer Dark Pulse vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Reuniclus: 466-550 (109.9 - 129.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

The last moveslot is for Aura Sphere which gives a large amount of coverage by being able to hit steel, dark and ice types that get in the way.

252+ SpA Choice Specs Mega Launcher Clawitzer Aura Sphere vs. 0 HP / 228 SpD Eviolite Ferroseed: 242-286 (105.6 - 124.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

rhyperior.gif

Rhyperior (G O L D Y) *shiny
Adamant @ Leftovers
252 HP/ 252 SPDEF/ 4 ATK with Solid Rock
-Earthquake
-Stone Edge
-Megahorn
-Dragon Tail

Rhyperior is a really balanced wall and is my counter to Raikou and Tornadus (because every team needs one) by adding Special Defense investments it's able to take special hits pretty nicely and is easily switched in to anything with his great Defense. Solid Rock makes it able to take unexpected super-effective moves or expected ones. Adamant nature gives it the ability to fight back against threats to the team suck as Stone-Edge onto Tornadus.

Earthquake and Stone Edge provide dual coverage that is almost not resisted by anything, Megahorn is used to take down psychic types such as Cresselia that are a pain to most teams, and Dragon Tail is to force out potential set up sweepers.

His defenses allow him to take hits from the strongest of walls;
252 SpA Life Orb Tornadus Hurricane vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Rhyperior: 129-152 (29.7 - 35%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Raikou Hidden Power Ice vs. 252 HP / 252 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 112-133 (25.8 - 30.6%) -- 2.8% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery

magmortar.gif

Magmortar (*Duckface*)
Modest @ Life Orb
252 SPATK/ 252 SPEED/ 4 SPDEF with Vital Spirit
-Fire Blast
-HP Grass
-Thunderbolt
-Focus Blast

Magmortar is a great Special Attacker and my check to the super strong Escavalier he's another Pokemon that destroys walls with his amazing coverage and the Life Orb helps with that by boosts his moves to make him deal a ton of damage. Vital Spirit gives Magmortar almost the perfect wall to Amoonguss not being able to be put to sleep and resisting Giga-Drain and makes it able to kill Tangrowth.

Fire Blast is a amazing STAB move for Magmortar and does a hecka lot of damage to anything that switches in.

252+ SpA Magmortar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Aromatisse: 211-250 (51.9 - 61.5%) -- 96.9% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Magmortar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Cofagrigus: 135-159 (42.1 - 49.6%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ SpA Magmortar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Tangrowth: 666-786 (164.8 - 194.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ SpA Magmortar Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 252-296 (74.5 - 87.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

HP Grass gives it counters to Rock-, Ground-, and Water-Types that would try and counter Magmortar such as Rhyperior, Gastrodon, and Quagsire.

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Hidden Power Grass vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Solid Rock Rhyperior: 441-519 (101.6 - 119.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Hidden Power Grass vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Quagsire: 520-614 (131.9 - 155.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Thunderbolt gives Magmortar the ability to take down annoying Flying-types and the annoying bulky Water-types such as Alomomomomola.

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Alomomola: 510-601 (95.5 - 112.5%) -- 68.8% chance to OHKO

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Thunderbolt vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Sigilyph: 226-268 (64.9 - 77%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

The last move is Focus Blast in order to finish off Magmortar's great coverage and helps him take down annoying Normal-,Dark-, and Steel-types and hit Dragon-types that resist all of my moves.

252+ SpA Life Orb Magmortar Focus Blast vs. 252 HP / 4 SpD Druddigon: 198-233 (55.3 - 65%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

gallade.gif

Gallade (Knight)
Adamant @ Assault Vest
252 ATK/252 DEF/ 4 SPEED with Justified
-Close Combat
-Psycho-Cut
-Stone Edge
-Shadow Sneak

Gallade is a great revenge killer with shadow sneak and is very liable to take our annoying threats with CC and his ability to take special hits with AV makes him bulky enough to take out some annoying Special Attackers such as Audino.

Close-Combat is one of the stronger Fighting-Type moves in the entire game and gives an incredible check to anything (bar Ghost) and it terrifying to switch into. It does massive amount of damage and can KO with ease.

252+ Atk Gallade Close Combat vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Exploud: 612-720 (148.5 - 174.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Gallade Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Barbaracle: 372-440 (130 - 153.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Gallade Close Combat vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Heliolisk: 704-830 (264.6 - 312%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Psycho-Cut is the Psychic-Type STAB on Gallade that I need for other Fighting-Types that try to switch in to me and also to do a lot of damage to Poison-Types.

-1 252+ Atk Gallade Psycho Cut vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Hitmontop: 170-204 (55.9 - 67.1%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Gallade Psycho Cut vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Amoonguss: 326-386 (75.4 - 89.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ Atk Gallade Psycho Cut vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Dragalge: 270-318 (80.8 - 95.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Black Sludge recovery
252+ Atk Gallade Psycho Cut vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Toxicroak: 696-820 (188.1 - 221.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Stone Edge is a replacement for Knock-Off (not able to get in X) and is used to hit Fire-, and Flying-Types for super-effective damage.

252+ Atk Gallade Stone Edge vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Tornadus: 312-368 (104 - 122.6%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Gallade Stone Edge vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Yanmega: 528-624 (168.1 - 198.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO
252+ Atk Gallade Stone Edge vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Delphox: 306-360 (104.7 - 123.2%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Shadow Sneak gives it the ability to hit the Ghost-type Pokemon that can do a lot of damage to him while also giving nice priority which can end up winning the game.

Hello Tyranitards, and congratulations on the RU tourney victory! However, there are still a few things wrong with this team.

Major Edits:
1) No hazards

Having a hazardless team in this meta is not optimal; there are so many good hazard setters running about that it's easy to fit one into your team, and hazards, Stealth Rock especially, quickly up damage on threats like Moltres, limiting the number of times it can switch into Durant. Therefore, I suggest Stealth Rock > Megahorn on Rhyperior, as your team has other ways of dealing with Shaymin and the other Grass-types.

2) Lack of spinblockers / a way to punish Defog
This didn't apply earlier, as you didn't have hazards. However, now that you have hazards, it is important for you to keep them up. Therefore, I recommend two changes: Rotom-N > Rotom-C and Competitive Milotic > Clawitzer. Rotom-N is, in my opinion, great in this meta, being able to stop powerhouses like Scarf Braviary in their tracks. Competitive Milotic can switch into nearly every common Defogger, recieve a +2 Special Attack boost, and rampage through teams. It also gets a boost from Sticky Web, letting it heavily dent that team archetype.

3) (SD) Virizion > Gallade
After the above changes, it became apparent to me that SD Virizion would fit your team far better than Gallade would. It gives your team a needed Dark resist, and can nab an attack boost with Justified. It forms a FWG core with Magmortar and Milotic. It gives your team needed speed, outpacing the majority of the tier. Its glaring Flying-type weakness is covered by both Rotom-N and Rhyperior. Finally, it can set up an SD on many Pokemon, like Shiftry, Gastrodon and Rhyperior, and sweep through the meta. Overall, SD Virizion is an incredibly potent threat that fits your team better than Gallade could ever hope to. (It can also use Taunt to help stop hazard use!)

Minor Edits:
1) Magmortar IVs: 0 Atk / 30 SAtk

You can't get HP Grass and maintain perfect Special Attack, and this spread uses 0 Atk IVs to minimize Foul Play damage.

Well, good luck! I hope I improved this team of yours, and that all of these changes are attainable in-game.

Just so you know, this is an in-game team, meaning he can't get Stealth Rock on Rhyperior without breeding in 5th gen (Which is like fucking impossible.)

Basically he has to run a hazardless team since all of the SRers that he can get in-game either suck or are in the higher tiers.

Well, he put HP Grass on Magmortar; iirc, Hidden Powers are hard to get in-game. I made it the best I could for PS! purposes, and it is rarely impossible to get something in-game.

Expulso if you have read the first sentence you would know that I can't run Stealth Rocks on Rhyperior because the only way to get it on Rhyperior is by tutor in 5th gen, I cant get rid of rotom-C because that's my scarfer, and if you had seen any of my videos you would know that Rotom is my crucial lead and scarf has won me numerous games from outspeeding.

Virizion could be a good replacement for Gallade, but I see no reason in order to change it and Virizion doesn't have shadow sneak which is a needed move to check ghost types and needed priority, which is the reason Gallade is my revenge killer.

Althought competitive milotic seems like a great use if using hazards and the sticky web weakness on my team would help out a lot, it just doesnt have the amount of coverage that Clawitzer has in order to wreck or use Choice Specs to do incredible amounts of damage.

Also so far hazards have not been a weakness on my team and hasnt negatively affected me until when you used sticky web in order to beat me.

As for Magmortar im confused on what I should do, change atk IVs to 0 and Spatk to 30?

  • Make rotom-n scarf, tbolt/volt switch/shadow ball (ghost type check (!)) and trick.
  • Milotic is strong.
  • Virizion is better than Galade, shadow sneak is weak af imo.
  • You need the correct iv's for a specific hidden power, do you actually have hidden power grass in-game? Showdown does it automatically, in-game just leave it.
  • Rhyperior without sr is bad. Just trade it from someone, or get a different stealth rocker.

Choice Scarf Rotom-N is weaker and lacks a secondary Grass-STAB. Without hazards, Rotom-C is really the best way to go.

Milotic is strong, yes. It's main niche would be to combat Sticky Web, one of the teams major weaknesses atm. It's actually the switch we're considering the most

Virizion doesn't have the sheer bulk of AV Gallade. It also lacks the power; unfortunately, base 90 Attack is disappointingly weak. Also, getting a good IV Virizion is nearly impossible in-game...

On your last point, the problem is literally all the Pokemon who can possible run hazards in RU, well, suck. Like, utterly suck. And he needs something to deal with Raikou/Fly Spam, therefore, Rhyperior stays.

I might get laughed off the internet for saying this, but if you did wanna try and find a way to fit rocks on the team you could do worse than Golem. You don't lose too much attack from rhyperior, but you gain some base special defense, and it learns SR by level up. I know you lose solid rock, but rhyperior wasn't going to be living grass and water moves anyway, and if you insist on leaving golem in to take a super power from adamant Braviary the calc says it lives with like 30% and you revenge kill with stone edge after rocks damage. However, I'd suggest running rock blast to keep Braviary from getting up a sub.
