Specially defensive rhyperior has been used on HO and works well. Swampert does the same but with different synergy

Oh wow that sucks, Was this pre o post the swagger ban?

Also: is the tiers about strengh, or just plain useage since the hippo is really high on the OU thread of viability, far better than pokes like infernape, who are still locked away, never to grace the UU tier?

The tiers are a representation of usage, and that's it, aside from the fact that each tier maintains its own internal ban list as well.

Further, what separates mons from specific tiers (aside from usage and internal QC) is how that mon deals with other pokemon of the tier, and whether or not there are stronger pokes that do the exact same thing.

Infernape would completely dominate UU, aside from the usage stats.

Usage stats take a while (usually 3 months) before entering a new tier. Further, UU may still hold suspect test for individual mons that are UU usage for obvious reasons.

Well they only tend to hold suspects on drops if they make that significant of a splash, e.g. Terrakion, that can be felt from the get go.

Volcarona says hi.
I'm going to wager Volcarona will be banned after some testing. It's stats are already strong and it gets two very good stat boosting moves: one a fire attack that does decent damage and only makes its attack larger, the other boosts both speed and special stats and has made lesser moths and butterflys (and a plant princess) viable. Can't hide behind Substitute if weak to Bug Buzz, Giga drain gets health back especially on ground and rock types who set up hazards, and it can exploit roost with only 3 weaknesses to avoid and infinite special defense. If it doesn't get banned it might just replace Hydreigon for S rank.

this isn't a simple question, but it is a general one that im more or less asking the better players of uu.

cacturne has risen in popularity thanks its sd set which can switch into something like slowbro or suicune and then set up sd and sweep with sucker punch. cacturne has not received anything notable itself, but the meta changed around it so that dark-type was an incredibly potent stab type.

what pokemon that are viable in uu could be said to possess the cacturne factor, where the cacturne factor describes a pokemon which has drastically improved in an overall meta with little to no actual improvement objectively.

Probably Toxicroak. Cacturne is completely immune to any slowbro that doesnt have ice beam and suicune is known for locking itself into one water attack giving Cacturne a free sword dance. But that's pretty much all it does well, it's too slow and frail to be useful most of the time. Toxicroak has the same thing with average stats but it's poison type gives it an advantage to Florges and it's dry skin makes it immune to water attacks, especially 'rest talk calm mind scald'cune. He didn't get anything new but he can specifically build around top threats and come in on them and be useful. Slowbro is one of the few S rank pokemon and Florges is on nearly every team so his niche can be exploited a lot more.

Braviary is just as powerful as it was before, but now it has a niche of Defog blocking that makes it more effective.

No, and neither was Hail after Aboma's introduction. Also Chandy was prolly worth a retest.

Whether they would've been banned or not is a different question, though.

anyone have thoughts on how much speed to run (or not run) on forry? sometimes i really miss not being able to outrun slowbro to be able to spin or get one more layer of hazards up but i'm not sure if the extra power gyro ball or slow volt switch compensates for that?
