[Disclaimer] The following team is not vey well thought out. I made the team in like 10 minutes and basically I wanted to try a few ideas. I know I already posted a warstory on Friday[ http://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26489 ]and I'm posting another one already but this new one is pretty funny.
I read this warstoryhttp://www.smogon.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25479
and I was enthralled by how Absol took down the ubers with Me First. I was proud of how my Absol took down a Tyranitar in the above story but taking down Mewtwo and using Rayquaza's outrage against it was pure awesome. Anyway I looked on Serebii to see who else could learn the move and I saw Furret. Furret has been a favorite of mine ever since I used to destroy everyone in the Furret minigame in Pokemon Stadium 2. I've always wanted an excuse to use him on a team but have never found a way. So I decided to go with Me First / Sucker Punch / U-Turn / Reversal @ Focus Sash for his moveset, pure gimmick but it turned out to be really fun.
Since I was running Focus Sash I knew that I needed someone with Rapid Spin and Rain Dance so I could bring him back in case there was a Tyranitar or Spikes / Stealth rockers on the other team. So I looked for someone who learns Rain Dance I didn't hate yet (Kingdra) and someone who learned Rapid Spin and might be useful (Armaldo). I chose Lanturn and Skarmory because their typings work so well together. Skarmory 4x resists and is immune to Lanturns weaknesses and Lanturn is immune and 2x resists Skarmory weaknesses. If only they had given Mantine Lanturn's typing and trait. They would be an amazing duo. I just threw Scyther in because I wanted someone fast and I really like the U-Turn + Choice Scarf combo. So with my haphazardly chosen team ready I went on shoddy battle to try it out. I challenged the first person to say ou battle.
My (Zangeese)'s Team:
My Opponent (gorusur)'s Team:
??? (I'm assuming Blissey or Cresellia for a special wall)
Start it up: 6-6
gorusur sent out Garchomp.
Zangeese sent out Furret.
Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
Furret used Me First.
But it failed!
Okay, my big plan to use Me First and it failed. Looks like Serebii lied to me. It says goes first and uses the opponents move at 1.5x power against them. It should say only works if you are faster. (It wouldn't have worked in this case anyway, but I learned that from my opponent). So I thought all of Furret's fun was over now because there was no way to Me First Garchomp's Dragon Claw's back at him now. However, don't write Furret off as useless so fast.
Garchomp used Swords Dance.
Garchomp's attack was sharply raised.
Furret used U-turn.
Garchomp lost 20% of its health.
Zangeese switched in Kingdra.
This was soooo stupid of me. I totally forgot Kingdra was Dragon type and slower and I wanted to get a rain dance in although I don't know why, I guess I feared Tyranitar, either way it was a very stupid move.
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
It's super effective!
Kingdra lost 354% of its health.
Zangeese's Kingdra fainted.
Garchomp lost 10% of its health.
Ouch! 354% but at least Garchomp lost 10% with his Life Orb. I switch in Scyther to get some more damage on him.
5-6 (Away Team Advantage)
Zangeese switched in Scyther.
Scyther used U-turn.
Garchomp lost 31% of its health.
Zangeese switched in Armaldo.
Garchomp used Draco Meteor.
Armaldo lost 77% of its health.
Garchomp's special attack was harshly lowered.
Garchomp lost 10% of its health.
Armaldo's leftovers restored its health a little!
Armaldo restored 6% of its health.
Don't know what I was thinking there. I didn't want to switch in Skarmory for fear of fire fang and I gave Armaldo 252 EV's in defense. However, he was running Chain Chomp or whatever it is called and it totally worked. Props to him.
Zangeese switched in Skarmory.
Garchomp used Dragon Claw.
It's not very effective...
Skarmory lost 42% of its health.
Garchomp lost 10% of its health (Sitting around 19%).
Nice to know after two swords dances, Garchomp still doesn't even do 50%. Notice no recovery on Skarmory because I was really hoping I'd face a Magnezone and Shed Shell switch to Lanturn for the Volt Absorb heal.
gorusur switched in Infernape.
Skarmory used Drill Peck.
It's super effective!
Infernape lost 70% of its health.
I guess he figured I'd spike or something. Either way, I don't think it was a good play on his part.
Zangeese switched in Lanturn.
Infernape used Flare Blitz.
It's not very effective...
A critical hit!
Lanturn lost 128% of its health.
Zangeese's Lanturn fainted.
Infernape was hit by recoil!
Infernape lost 52% of its health.
gorusur's Infernape fainted.
Huh? He gets lucky with the critical hit but unlucky in that he fainted himself. Poor Lanturn, didn't get to do anything. I switch in Furret to see what other tricks I can pull.
4-5 (Away Team Advantage)
gorusur switched in Garchomp.
Zangeese switched in Furret.
Furret used Sucker Punch.
Garchomp lost 21% of its health.
gorusur's Garchomp fainted.
Score 1 for Furret! The first victim of his killing spree!
4-4
gorusur switched in Weavile.
Weavile is exerting its pressure!
Zangeese: booyakasha
Weavile used Swords Dance.
Weavile's attack was sharply raised.
Furret used Reversal.
It's super effective!
Weavile lost 35% of its health.
Again, that was a pretty cocky move on the part of my opponent. I could have easily been running Brick Break which I bet would one hit K-O him. I figure he's on to my plan though when he sees I used reversal at full health. I guess not though.
Weavile used Brick Break.
It's super effective!
Furret lost 162% of its health.
Furret hung on using its Focus Sash!
Furret used Reversal.
It's super effective!
Weavile lost 361% of its health.
gorusur's Weavile fainted.
Score #2 for the Furretmeister! This gets a nice reply from my opponent. I think he might be starting to have some respect for Furret. Also I take the lead for the first time in the game.
4-3 (Home Team Advantage)
Zangeese switched in Armaldo.
Porygonz used Tri Attack.
It's not very effective...
Armaldo lost 52% of its health.
Zangeese's Armaldo fainted.
I sent in Armaldo for the sacrifice. Stupid move on my part. I wasn't sure whether I could have pulled off a U-Turn though and I know Sucker Punch would not 1 Hit K-O. But now it is tied up again.
3-3
Zangeese switched in Scyther.
Scyther used Rock Smash.
It's super effective!
A critical hit!
Porygonz lost 74% of its health.
Porygonz's defence was lowered.
Porygonz used Tri Attack.
Scyther lost 121% of its health.
Zangeese's Scyther fainted.
Damn. Another stupid move on my part. I thought Rock Smash was base power 80 because of Technician but I guess it's only 60, in which case I should have put Brick Break on him. Either way, I was sure that Critical hit plus supper effective + high attack would have been enough to one hit KO. Things no longer look so good for me.
2-3 (Away Team Advantage)
Zangeese switched in Skarmory.
gorusur switched in Rhyperior.
Skarmory used Drill Peck.
It's not very effective...
Rhyperior lost 6% of its health.
Rhyperior's leftovers restored its health a little!
Rhyperior restored 6% of its health.
Again, not sure what I was thinking here. That turned out to be a waste of time.
Skarmory used Roost.
Skarmory restored 50% of its health.
Rhyperior used Substitute.
Rhyperior lost 25% of its health.
Rhyperior made a substitute!
Rhyperior's leftovers restored its health a little!
Rhyperior restored 6% of its health.
This is the move I should have used first. Now he has a Substitute up, damn!
Rhyperior used Stone Edge.
Skarmory lost 31% of its health.
Skarmory used Whirlwind.
gorusur switched in Porygonz.
Well bye, bye sub, hello instant death. There's no way I can't lose a pokemon next turn. I decide to sacrifice Skarmory because it not like he was going to do anything against Rhyperior anyway.
Porygonz used Thunderbolt.
It's super effective!
Skarmory lost 137% of its health.
Zangeese's Skarmory fainted.
Inevitable. Alright Furret, You're all I have left.
1-3 (Away Team Advantage)
Zangeese switched in Furret.
Furret used Sucker Punch.
Porygonz lost 33% of its health.
gorusur's Porygonz fainted.
Wow Score #3 for Furret! I didn't think he would fall for that again! Am I ever glad Scyther got that critical hit.
1-2 (Away Team Advantage)
Furret used Reversal.
It's super effective!
Rhyperior lost 61% of its health.
Rhyperior used Avalanche.
Furret lost 69% of its health.
Zangeese's Furret fainted.
gorusur wins!
0-2 (Away Team Wins)
If only Reversal had've got a critical hit. I might have been able to get another one hit ko if his next pokemon was Blissey.
Moral of the story: even pokemon that are underused (I think Furret is even never used) can do some damage in an overused environment. So people start using more underused pokemon. It will make the game more fun. I love reading war stories and I realize people write them to showcase their skill which is fine but it gets boring when it's the same pokemon over and over again.
Pros:
-Furret obviously, for taking out three pokemon.
-Critical hits.
-Skarmory for me actually using him right this time.
Cons:
-Lanturn, Armaldo, Kingdra: pretty much all useless except to sacrifice.
-Crirical hits.
-I definitely didn't plan these team the best / made a lot of mistakes.
