The ar, cloning and hacking

1. Is a cloned pokemon using the AR illegal, in online battles/on smogon?

2. Is a hacked pokemon using the AR illegal, in online battles/on smogon?

3. In the Wi-Fi section, pokemon with hacked parents are borderline. Are hacked grandparents ok?

Nope.

Yesh.

Maybe, but I think most people don't want Pokémon that have anything to do with hacking.

Though these questions should be asked in the "Ask a simple question, get a simple answer" topic ;D

Since the device you use produces the same thing as a glitch in the game, then yes.

Mostly yes

I don't see a problem with hacked grandparents.

-Yes, since cloning can be done without an AR and doing it with an AR doesn't give you an advantage.
-Only if your opponent agrees to allow you to use hacked Pokémon. It's also almost always frowned upon to hack max IVs, hack EVs past the normal limit, or hack moves and other such things, even if the moves seem legal.
-Hacked parents are borderline because you can hack max IVs for the parents, guaranteeing at least 3 max IVs for the child. This also means that you can get GREAT EVs on the child with relative ease. They may not be max IVs, but they're still above and beyond others with realtively little work; the same goes for the grandchildren, because if you have two great parents, you'll have great children.

My advice: Take your AR back to Gamestop and trade it for credit on a reservation (SSBB! >_>)
 
I have a question on hacked parents.

Is the reason for it being "borderline" have to do with the relative ease of breeding a near perfect baby, or is it "borderline" because the baby, like the parents, will be considered hacked by Nintendo?

If it's the former, then I don't see why it is frowned upon. Just like cloning, hacking great IVed parents is a simpler way to achieve great pokemon. IF the baby is considered legit by Nintendo, then I see no reason to not allow it here.
 
Why are people who are not mods trying to answer these questions?

1. Legal.
2. Legal.
3. Illegal. SO ARE PARENTS.

On 1 or 2, my answer is for generic Smogon wifi non-tournament battles. I don't care if it's hacked as long as it's within the limits of the game (ie not 252 EVs in every stat).
