Hello and welcome to RU! we have a few resources at the moment that can be used to help you teambuild and learn what works best/what to watch out for in the current metagame.

First off, the RU viability ranking and RU teambuilding threads are a good place to start, they're constantly changing and the teambuilding thread isn't really complete, but taking a look at these two threads can help you build a team to start off with and optimize your sets/evs. Those two threads can be found here and here:

Alomomola can be a bitch, even if you are prepared. Have some way to kill it or it will ruin your life.

Sharpedo can give you a headache, especially if you use rhyperior as a blanket wall. Be careful of mixed sets.

Cobalion is weak af, but also can setup on a lot (then it isn't weak). be careful

Analytic specs magneton >>>>

Rain dance teams can be rough (omastar)

Trick room >>>>>>>>>>>

zoroark can be a pain in the ass depending on your team comp. Use aromatisse


Aromatisse never dies and it heals the team 24/7. Poison/steel types.


Assault vest esca doesn't die but it kills lots of stuff

Don't underestimate kecleon or it will kick your ass

Accupressure drapion. Surprise mon from hell if it gets only mildly lucky (with battle armor, can quickly be literally unbeatable as a last-turn mon)

Harvest mons can be hard to kill if they're lucky

CB braviary hits real hard.

Alo+amoongus >>>

durant will beat the shit out of you every time. run scarf delphox or something (But they have slowking so sorry, you're fucked)

Avest slowking is hard to kill. Use specs yanmega or clawitzer or something if it's an issue

Specs yanmega and clawitzer will beat the shit out of you

Moltres is real good. I hate the sub toxic set the most (bulky af). Slowking and the like can handle specs/scarf

Use avest hitmonlee pls. It's real good, I promise (takes like 30% from aromatisse moon blast. like wut)

Exploud will sweep your team under tr/webs. Use spdef rhyperior or escav or seomthing.

Have fun! Great tier. :) Especially when lass/shuck are gone
 
Something I'm curious to know is the value of the validity ranking system. You see, I just made my first RU team, but from every team fight that I had, a trend usually comes up.

If your team only has 1 A or S rank pokemon, you're expected to lose more than win more. Half of my team belongs to the B to C validity ranks simply because I'm picking a team of favorites. Is that really a bad thing for the demands of this community?

If you have teams with mostly B and C Pokemon it means that probably you are using something outclassed to some extent by some A or S rank mon. Anyway any Pokemon has a specific niche in the metagame anyway and if for example you are using Heliolisk over Jolteon and you really really need the water immunity more than the speed and subpass capabilities keep using it. Be sure to use every low ranked mon for its specific niche tho. Also viability rankings are not perfect atm and only an indicative list of what is the most useful and less useful in the current metagane so it doesn't mean that a team full of A+/S ranks is objectively better than one with B mons if in the B rank team every mon fulfills its specific role to win games.

Quick question: Is defog the only new toy golbat got that it went Gen 5PU----->6th gen RU or was there something else? Just wanna make sure it's not utter garbarge that's only RU B/C of defog. Plus it's also in a pretty borderline position on the viability thread between good and bad.

It also pretty much full-stops Hitmonlee, one of the biggest threats in the tier at the moment.

It has several niches other than Defog. Infiltrator + Toxic puts a stop to certain Pokemon like SubBU Braviary and ShbCM Cresselia, awesome typing lets it counter/check a lot of threats like most of the fighting types in the tier bar Gallade, and its defenses are pretty fucking awesome with Eviolite. Its definitely not utter garbage besides defog.
 
When discussing Rampardos in the viability thread, something that occurred to me was AssVest Mixed to shore up its... less than stellar Special bulk. Is this a good idea? I mean, I missed a lot of the dying embers of Gen V RU due to medical problems, so I don't know if a mixed set's even worth it, but it was recommended and I'm intrigued by it. =]

Nope, Rampardos has very low special bulk so AV won't alleviate it that much since it multiplies with 1.5. He is much better off running scarf to help withs it's lower speed, or LO to take advantage of it's movepool and Sheer Force
 
Thought that might be the case, but it's always good to check. Thanks for your advice! Assuming this is the set talked about in the NU page for Rampardos, I'll get to testing it against the usual suspects. I love using mons with less-than-stellar characteristics, even though I tend to use Lord Skull as a non-DB suicide lead. Forth and fear no et cetera! =]

as i mentioned before in the thread, the reasoning behind the ban druddigon joke is mainly this:


Well competitively, Druddigon was probably the absolute best Pokemon in BW2 RU and its still quite excellent today. However, its status as a top tier threat in BW2 RU along with a user named TROP started an inside joke that Druddigon was the most broken Pokemon in RU (and the entire game), and that it needs to be banned asap. So people joke about that quite often, even going so far as to make fake calcs of druddigon OHKOing xerneas with outrage etc. Nbd
 
Is gogoat solidly in RU or is it likely to end up somewhere else? I would like to use him and I want to know what he should be prepared to face.
 
So today I had a RU match on the ladder and my opponent had a Froslass but iirc she is banned since Thursday so when is Zarel updating the tier lists? Not trying to sound rude but I am tired of seeing that annoying ghost innthe team preview.

Froslass will apparently be banned during the next server restart
