XY Ubers Heavy Offense

Hey guys, it's Geo. Before I begin, I should say that I'm relatively new to Ubers but have a solid grasp of the metagame. I'm currently trying to reach top 500 in Ubers (for a YouTube series) and am hoping this team can do it for me. I'm only 80ish points away now, and my question to you is: can this team get me to top 500?

Deoxys-Speed @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Magic Coat
- Ice Beam

Deoxys-S serves as my hazard setter and main support for the team. The idea here is simple (and you can already see it by the set) - get as many hazards up as possible, Ice Beam Lando leads, and bounce back status/Sticky Web/Toxic Spikes. I'm running the bulky set to ensure that I can get as many hazards up as possible. I also chose Ice Beam > Psycho Boost because picking up early KO's on Lead Chomp and Lando are great for the team.

Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Water Spout
- Thunder
- Surf
- Ice Beam

SpecsOgre serves as the primary wall breaker on the team. Standard EVs and what not, but it's still great. Orge is here to take out Chansey/Blissey, as well as generally weaken the opposition so that Gengar/Ekiller/GeoXern can come in later and clean up/sweep. Ice Beam for coverage on Dragons and Thunder for Arceus-Water/Ho-Oh/Lugia. I have been considering running HP Grass for Gastrodon but am still on the fence. Thoughts?

Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower

BandZor serves as this team's GeoXern check, as it does around 70-85% to GeoXern w/ Banded BP. In addition to having Superpower for Chansey and Pusuit for Gengar/Giratina, a slow U-Turn does wonders for the team as I can get initiative into Mega Gengar, GeoXern, or Ekiller and exploit a bad matchup that can lead to a sweep. BandZor also does a good job of hitting Chansey/Blissey so that MegaGar's job becomes easier. Also, the added priority allows me to easily clean late game w/ BandZor and Arceus.

Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt

Mega Gengar serves as one of the bets utility Pokemon ever, and does that job on this team. With Scizor's slow U-Turns, it can trap opposing walls (hi Chansey) and KO them so that GeoXern can run wild late game. Additionally, it can shut down Lead Chomp, Bulky Lando-T, and Xerneas with it's coverage. Sludge Bomb/Shadow Ball for STAB, Tbolt for Ho-Oh, and HP Ice for Lando/Chomp. EV spread is straight forward, although I had considered running a bulky set. Which would work better?

Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
GeoXern is one of the most threatening forces in Ubers with it's access to Power Herb Geomancy - but I feel that I'm preaching to the choir here. Geomancy for boosting, Moonblast for STAB, HP Fire for Sciz/Ferro, and Tbolt for Ho-Oh/Lugia. GeoXern works well with Gengar as it lures out Chansey/Blissey then allows them to be trapped and eliminated. Also, GeoXern works to take out physical walls to open the door for Ekiller.

Arceus @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Head
- Earthquake

Ekiller is the last member of my team, and for good reason - he's god. With SD+ Silk Scarf Espeed, it can take out a majority of the meta. Earthquake is here for the random steel types that come in to try and wall the set. Iron Head is here to score prior damage on Xerneas so that I can take it out from +2 w/ Iron Head + Espeed. Arceus aids the team in breaking physical walls alongside BandZor, which can result in a late game cleaning from Arceus even if it can't SD in time. That's about all for Arceus!

Thanks for the read+rate!

Hey Geo,

The team looks pretty decent. Gengar+Xern is always good (mind you, Gengar+any sweeper is good). The team, like any other has a few flaws, the most important ones being a great Kyogre weakness and Zekrom weakness, thanks to a lack of electric resists and water resists. Both of the pokemon run over the team, fearing very little and outspeeding nearly the entire team. These weaknesses will essentially make laddering very difficult, and are probably largely the reason that the team fails to top 500. The other issues come in optimization- the team has tons of small little optimization errors, wrong sets, poor moves, etc. that also lessen the team's effectiveness. There are a few minor other weaknesses, like Blaziken, but they are pretty minor.

The main change I would suggest to help this team is Scarf Zekrom over Specs Kyogre. It checks Kyogre, resists Electric, and checks Ho-Oh. SpecsOgre's main use on the team besides stallbreaking which Gengar does anyways, was putting pressure on Ho-Oh, which Zekrom can do. Another thing is, Deoxys-S is a meh lead, and Deoxys-A is a better fit on offensive builds like this due to its ability to put up early game offensive pressure, which Deoxys-S cannot do. Spikes is not really that important, so just rocks is fine.

Deoxys-Attack @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SAtk / 252 Spd
Naive Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Psycho Boost
- Extreme Speed
- Knock Off

Zekrom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SAtk / 252 Spd
Lonely Nature
- Bolt Strike
- Outrage
- Volt Switch
- Sleep Talk

OPTIMIZATION

Deo-S- Deo-A is probably better, but if you don't change it you should run Dark Pulse or Knock Off over Ice beam.

Kyogre- don't run HP Grass, I don't know how I feel about bulky specs, I guess it's alright but a faster set is good too. It should have odd HP and a bit of speed creep for bulky specs though.

Scizor- OK, should have 248 HP though

Gengar- best set is Taunt / Dbond / Sludge Bomb or Wave + Fblast or HP Fire or Shadow Ball

Xerneas- 104 HP / 28 Def / 252+ SAtk / 124 Spd for HP Fire Xern, Thunder/Psyshock > Thunderbolt

Arceus- LO should be item, and Jolly nature since Hasty doesn't do anything. Also, 4 Def > 4 Satk.

Good luck!

Thanks for the rate! With your changes, it's making laddering a lot easier. I opted for Zekrom > Ogre, which is working great.

However, I chose Deo-S > Deo-A because I prefer stacking hazards and being able to take a bit of a hit. Changed Ice Beam to Knock Off. Thanks!

Hey Geopolitics, nice Hyper Offense team you got there. It's always interesting to see people running the Geo Xerneas + Extremekiller offensive core. Although your current state of the team is fine, I have some changes that might benefit the team a lot and might also be able to get the team to top 500 on the Pokemon Showdown Ubers ladder!

To start things off, I highly suggest you to use Dual Screens Deoxys-S over the current one, although the set you have at the moment is fine, Dual Screens accomplishes a lot on this type of teams specifically because you have the most threatning sweepers in the game in it, those being Arceus and Xerneas. Xerneas under a Reflect is virtually unstoppable, same with Arceus. Not only that, Reflect and Light Screen back up the part of trading defenses for firepower that Hyper Offense has always had. So I definetely see them being good on your team. The EVs might be a little bit weird, 248 HP / 44 Def / 212 Spd, enough speed for outspeeding base 100 Choice Scarf users like Jirachi, Max HP and some Defense were added for some mandatory bulk as it might be able to set up screens more than one time. As for moves, Stealth Rock is the mandatory hazard that you must always have on any team. Taunt to check some Stealth Rock/Spikes like Groudon and Scolipede, avoiding status like Thunder Wave is also a plus. Light Screen and Reflect were also already explained. I know you lost the ability to use Spikes on Deoxys but I think Dual Screens is worth it.

deoxys-speed.gif

Deoxys-S @ Light Clay
Trait: Pressure
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Def / 212 Spd
Jolly Nature (+Spd, -SAtk)
- Stealth Rock
- Taunt
- Light Screen
- Reflect

Next, I agree with Haxiom's suggestion about Choice Scarf Zekrom over Choice Specs Kyogre, it would definetely help you check some threats like Kyogre and also wear a lot of things down for Arceus/Scizor to revenge kill. I'd use Naughty/Naive nature on it only if you're running Draco Meteor to get some nice damage on common switch-ins like Landorus-T though, if you're running Sleep Talk over Draco Meteor use Jolly, Zekrom appreciates the extra defense with the galore of priority that exists in the tier (Sucker Punch Yveltal, Extremespeed from Arceus, Bullet Punch from Scizor/Lucario, etc...).

zekrom.gif

Zekrom @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 8 HP / 248 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature / Naive
- Bolt Strike
- Outrage
- Volt Switch
- Sleep Talk / Draco Meteor

Last but not least, a few nitpicks here and there, use the following EVs on Xerneas: 120 HP / 28 Def / 252 SAtk / 108 Spd, this allows you to give Genesect the Sp.Atk boost before getting the boost so Iron Head doesnt do too much damage to it. Also, use Life Orb over Silk Scarf on Extremekiller Arceus as the difference of power is huge, and use Jolly over Hasty, you're not really using it for anything useful and you're lowering your Defense stat for no reason, use Shadow Claw over Iron Head too, I know you're trying to hit Xerneas with Iron Head but honestly, Shadow Claw benefits Arceus a lot more, being able to hit Giratina, unevolved Gengar and Arceus-Ghost for super effective damage is huge. On the other hand, change those 4 Sp.atk EVs to Defense so you don't give Genesect the Attack boost. Lastly, use Sludge Wave over Sludge Bomb, Icy Wind over Hidden Power Ice and Taunt over Thunderbolt on Gengar. Icy Wind is trades like no power and accuracy for an amazing side effect! Taunt helps you deal with Chansey and Blissey, Sludge Wave is more powerful, there's really no reason for not running Sludge Wave over Sludge Bomb.

Nice team, Good Luck! :]

Hey Edgar,

Thanks so much for the rate! I've been testing the changes for a while, and they are all working very well, thanks!
