Hey guys, it's Geo. Before I begin, I should say that I'm relatively new to Ubers but have a solid grasp of the metagame. I'm currently trying to reach top 500 in Ubers (for a YouTube series) and am hoping this team can do it for me. I'm only 80ish points away now, and my question to you is: can this team get me to top 500?
Deoxys-Speed @ Focus Sash
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Spikes
- Magic Coat
- Ice Beam
Deoxys-S serves as my hazard setter and main support for the team. The idea here is simple (and you can already see it by the set) - get as many hazards up as possible, Ice Beam Lando leads, and bounce back status/Sticky Web/Toxic Spikes. I'm running the bulky set to ensure that I can get as many hazards up as possible. I also chose Ice Beam > Psycho Boost because picking up early KO's on Lead Chomp and Lando are great for the team.
Kyogre @ Choice Specs
Ability: Drizzle
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Water Spout
- Thunder
- Surf
- Ice Beam
SpecsOgre serves as the primary wall breaker on the team. Standard EVs and what not, but it's still great. Orge is here to take out Chansey/Blissey, as well as generally weaken the opposition so that Gengar/Ekiller/GeoXern can come in later and clean up/sweep. Ice Beam for coverage on Dragons and Thunder for Arceus-Water/Ho-Oh/Lugia. I have been considering running HP Grass for Gastrodon but am still on the fence. Thoughts?
Scizor @ Choice Band
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Bullet Punch
- U-turn
- Pursuit
- Superpower
BandZor serves as this team's GeoXern check, as it does around 70-85% to GeoXern w/ Banded BP. In addition to having Superpower for Chansey and Pusuit for Gengar/Giratina, a slow U-Turn does wonders for the team as I can get initiative into Mega Gengar, GeoXern, or Ekiller and exploit a bad matchup that can lead to a sweep. BandZor also does a good job of hitting Chansey/Blissey so that MegaGar's job becomes easier. Also, the added priority allows me to easily clean late game w/ BandZor and Arceus.
Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Shadow Ball
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Thunderbolt
Mega Gengar serves as one of the bets utility Pokemon ever, and does that job on this team. With Scizor's slow U-Turns, it can trap opposing walls (hi Chansey) and KO them so that GeoXern can run wild late game. Additionally, it can shut down Lead Chomp, Bulky Lando-T, and Xerneas with it's coverage. Sludge Bomb/Shadow Ball for STAB, Tbolt for Ho-Oh, and HP Ice for Lando/Chomp. EV spread is straight forward, although I had considered running a bulky set. Which would work better?
Xerneas @ Power Herb
Ability: Fairy Aura
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Geomancy
- Moonblast
- Hidden Power [Fire]
- Thunderbolt
GeoXern is one of the most threatening forces in Ubers with it's access to Power Herb Geomancy - but I feel that I'm preaching to the choir here. Geomancy for boosting, Moonblast for STAB, HP Fire for Sciz/Ferro, and Tbolt for Ho-Oh/Lugia. GeoXern works well with Gengar as it lures out Chansey/Blissey then allows them to be trapped and eliminated. Also, GeoXern works to take out physical walls to open the door for Ekiller.
Arceus @ Silk Scarf
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Swords Dance
- Extreme Speed
- Iron Head
- Earthquake
Ekiller is the last member of my team, and for good reason - he's god. With SD+ Silk Scarf Espeed, it can take out a majority of the meta. Earthquake is here for the random steel types that come in to try and wall the set. Iron Head is here to score prior damage on Xerneas so that I can take it out from +2 w/ Iron Head + Espeed. Arceus aids the team in breaking physical walls alongside BandZor, which can result in a late game cleaning from Arceus even if it can't SD in time. That's about all for Arceus!
