UPDATED VERSION OF TEAM
So this is my 2nd doubles team ever created, my first one had huge success, won multiple tourneys, peaked ladder, had a friend use it who also won a ton of tourneys and also peaked ladder. I stopped playing Doubles for a couple of months and without even an understanding of the new meta, I made this team. I would appreciate it if people could give me pointers on what is even relevant these days.
Breloom @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Spore
- Mach Punch
- Rock Tomb
- Bullet Seed
I really wanted to make a team that included Breloom, so that's exactly what I did. This thing is so godly I love it. It has access to spore and I know people are gonna say "ew Amoonguss is the most consistent sporer blah blah" well I'm not trying to run what literally everyone runs. Rock Tomb is to hit Talonfag on switch in and also just slow down mons, which comes in handy sometimes.
Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 44 Def / 84 SpA / 120 SpD / 8 Spe
Calm Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Electroweb
- Protect
With using Breloom comes an obvious TFag weakness, so I needed a check of some sort. That's where this fella comes in to play. Not only does it check TFag but it also checks other common mons or atleast what I think is common nowadays, idek. I threw Electroweb on Rotom just to further make sure I have a speed advantage throughout the game.
Gengar @ Gengarite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Sludge Wave
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect
There's a cool duo I wanted to try out and that was Mega-Gengar and Bisharp. Since Bisharp has a Steel typing I can just spam Sludge Wave freely. I also have a specially defensive Rotom along with a Landorus so I can also spam Sludge Wave if either of those mons are in and not fear accidentally killing them. I don't remember exactly but Sludge Wave does like 25-30% max to either of them so that's cool. Also, Shadow Tag is pretty damn dumb so that's always fun to abuse. I threw Will-o-wisp on Gengar just for some burn support considering my team isn't extremely bulky.
Bisharp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Protect
- Iron Head
There's probably a more optimal spread for this guy but so far what I have has been working. Bisharp is for obvious knock off support and just because him and Gengar on the field together is pretty damn fun, spamming Sludge Waves and shit. I wasn't too sure about the item so I just threw focus sash on him because wynaut, it's actually come in handy a couple times. Bisharp also provides me with an opportunity to deal with Cresselia which is like the premiere TR setter.
Landorus-Therian (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Superpower
- U-turn
Landorus-T is probably the best scarfer in Doubles imo. He also pairs well with Bisharp covering Bisharp's weaknesses and all that, also spamming EQ when Rotom or Talonflame is on the field is always fun. Landorus also provides me with another Talonflame check which wrecks house to my team.
Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 84 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 168 SpA
Naughty Nature
- Brave Bird
- Protect
- Tailwind
- Fire Blast
Who doesn't like spamming priority BB's? The shit is so fun so of course I had to run this clutch mother f'er right here. The spread is a little odd but this spread allows me to 2hko landorus-t with fire blast and not have to take any recoil. It also allows me to hit things like Ferrothorn and not take extreme recoil damage because of Iron Barbs and stuff because lets be honest, after LO recoil and BB/Flare Blitz recoil, that's like 50% of Talonflame's health right there. This team has some problems with TR but thats where Tflames priority helps occasionally. I could probably use another move other than Tailwind considering I have Electroweb on Rotom and Rock Tomb on Breloom but meh.
Any feedback on the team would be greatly appreciated.
I've already had some really nice success with the team already so here is the pastebin if anyone would like to use it: http://pastebin.com/vtFbVSn3
