XY OU OU Rain team (First Post)

Hi guys, I've put together this rain team but something doesnt quite work. I win battles but it feels like theres room for improvement. It's meant to be competitive but at the same time using pokemon I like does have priority for me personally. I was hoping you guys could have a look and see if you have any suggestions.

Name: Politoed
Nature: Modest
Ability: Drizzle
Item: Damp Rock
EV's: 252Hp / 252 SP.A / 4 Def
Moves:
Ice Beam
Psychic
Scald
Focus Blast

Polidtoed is my rain setter, I've gone with damp rock to give me some valuable extra turns of rain. I pretty just went for as much coverage as possible since he will almost always be my lead although maybe switching damp rock for choice specs might be a good idea?

Name: Dragonite
Nature: Modest
Ability: Multiscale
Item: Yache Berry
EV's: 252 Spe/ 252 SP.A / 4 Sp.Def
Moves:
Ice Beam
Roost
Dragon Pulse
Thunder

This is my special dragonite, he's here mostly as a thunder user and because he's one of my favourite pokemon. Unfortunately I don't feel like he adds much to my team as a special attacker so I'm thinking I may either swap him out or switch to my usual physical attacker

Name: Azumaril
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Huge Power
Item: Aqua Plate
EV's: 92HP / 252 Atk / 164 Spe
Moves:
Belly Drum
Aqua Jet
Play rough
Water Fall

Pretty standard Azumaril is the same as about 80% of other azumarils out there. I'm thinking of dropping Belly drum for something and running choice band for extra power?

Name: Kingdra
Nature: Modest
Ability: Swift Swim
Item: Life Orb
EV's: 64 Hp / 252 SP.A / 192 Spe
Moves:
Hydro Pump
Dragon Pulse
Ice Beam
Rain Dance

My sweeper and back up rain setter. I love this guy he never seems to let me down. He has a few extra Hp Ev's since he's super fast in the rain and boosted Hydro Pumps will put the hurt on just about any pokemon that doesnt resist it.

Name: Gyarados
Nature: Adamant
Ability: Intimidate (Mold Breaker)
Item: Gyaradosite
EV's: 252Hp / 252 Spe / 4 Sp.D
Moves:
Dragon Dance
Earthquake
Waterfall
Stone Edge

My physical sweeper, does a decent job but never seems to wow me. Toying with swapping him out for something like Mega Heracross who will give me a counter to some of my glaring weakness's (Looking at you Ferrothorn!)

Name: Vaporeon
Nature: Bold
Ability: Water Absorb
Item: Leftovers
EV's: 252Hp / 4 SP.AD / 252 Def
Moves:
Toxic
Scald
Wish
Protect

This is my tanky Vaporeon, I went with water absorb because I liked simply having an immunity over a resistance. I simply prefer it over Hydration. This guy can take some serious punishment and Scold can make him a pain for people to try and sweep.

So thats my team, I think they all kind of explain thmselves so does any one have any suggestions?
I'm thinking about dropping belly drum for something and running choice band. As well as maybe dropping Dragonite and mega Gyarados. I've been thinking about Raichu, Mega Heracross, Machamp and Mamoswine as possible replacements as I feel they cove my weaknesses a little better? If any one has any suggested builds as well as some other pokemon I may not have thought about?

Thanks :)

Interesting team here, but it has some glaring weaknessess. Although using a lot water pokemon on a rain team seems like a good idea, you dont want to use too many. 3 is usually a good number or else you start to stack too many weaknessess (electric and grass) and be walled by the same stuff (Ferrothorn, Mega Venusaur, and Azumarill). With that in mind i would strongly suggest changing your Vaporean to Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn has much better defensive synergy with your team and can provide stealth rock, which you lack. I agree with what you were thinking before about replacing Mega Gyarados as well. Mega Heracross is a great replacement as it has good synergy with your team, can destroy stall which rain often struggles with, and is able to break walls in general for another pokemon to sweep. Mega Mawile would be another good replacement as well provided it's not banned for the same reasons as Mega Heracross. For your Azumarill you should seriously consider giving it an Assault Vest and foregoing belly drum for either knock off or superpower (superpower makes it a great Ferrothorn lure). Assault Vest Azumarill is such an amazing set at the moment and checks so many things. It is a great glue in general for offensive teams and with some luck you could possibly lure in something like a Thundurus thinking it can OHKo you only to be OHkOed in return. The ev spread would be 252+ attack and either 252hp or 252 sp def depending on your preference. Finally, if you're using Dragonite in the rain you should really be running Hurricane. Dragonite gets STAB on Hurricane and it is perfectly accurate in the rain. I would suggest replacing Ice Beam with Hurrciane. Now that i think about it you should also replace Dragon Pulse with Surf. Surf gets much better coverage and is slightly more powerful when you factor in the rain boost. Surf also does massive damage to Landorus-T, Hippowdown, and Gliscor who come in expecting to wall a physical dragonite. Dragon pulse is kinda useless to, as Dragonite's other moves get good neutral coverage and the only relevant target of it is other dragons, who will almost always outspeed you since you dont have dragon dance. Finally, Life Orb or Leftovers are better than a yache berry in this case (yache berry is pretty bad on Dragonite because Multiscale stops many ice attacks from ohkoing and due to multiscale breaking many ice attacks will always 2hko dragonite regardless of yache berry). Life Orbsboosts your attacks a lot, turning many 2hko into ohko and although it breaks multiscale dragonite has roost and is pretty slow so it might have already lost multiscale anyways. Leftovers renews multiscale if minimal damage was taken and provides passive recovery, which is always useful.

Thanks for the amazingly detailed response! I was hoping to keep Vaporeon in the list simple because of favoritism but I'll give Ferrothorn a run out :) I've been testing both Heracross and Mega Ampheros and seem to have more success with ampheros but I do have an issue with some weaknesses so if they pop up I tend to be screwed whilst Heracross gives me better balance. I hadnt even thought of those changes to dragonite so I will definitely give them a go. Are there not rules against multiple items? I would run Leftovers but I had them on vaporeon, i suppose I could run rocky helmet on Ferrothorn and leftovers on Dragonite? Those changes to Azumaril also sound like a great idea. Really helpful response! :)

Nope, there arent any rules on multiple items

Ok so before you drop special D-Nite you can carry hurricane on it over roost or ice beam also test D-meteor because it has more power then d-pulse and I see him being more of a pokemon that hit hard. You may want to carry a life orb as ice shouldn't be too effective against your team because it is rain but also maybe Assault Vest azumarill so it can take hit from thundurus because your politoed isn't a bulky with def/sp def also a thought to consider is running kabutops or ludicolo as they are some of the other best sweepers in the rain you may want to run one of them over D-Nite (If still isn't doing his job right r M-gyrados. Aside from that its good to see weather teams are still out there.

Also I reccomend leech seed/stealth rocks/protect/gyro ball with a negative speed nature and no ivs in speed although I think showdown does that already.
