XY UU Mylo Xyloto (HO team)

Hey guys, after a few days I'm finally finished with this team I didn't tell you about, so I decided to make it into a RMT. This team wasn't made to "have synergy" or to "stall pokemon", it was made for one thing: Attacking. Oh yeah, this team was NOT named after the Coldplay album, it was named after the comic (i did throw some song lyrics in here tho). Hope u like it.

PS: I think this is my best team so far.

PPS: You're all awesome.

Above crap aside, presenting my newest team at the moment...

And I just wanna be there when the lightning strikes.......

Sparker (Ampharos) (M) @ Ampharosite
Ability: Static
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Agility
- Thunderbolt
- Dragon Pulse
-Focus Blast

Mega Ampharos is many things. Pain in the ass, defensive tank, and the set that I use here: Agility Ampharos. We have Agility to.....um, to boost speed (obvs). Thunderbolt 2HKOs almost everything that isn't specially defensive in the tier, and Dragon Pulse hits what resists Thunderbolt (looking at you, Hippowdon and Hydreigon). Finally, Focus Blast guns down whatever it hits super-effectively. Modest nature so that Ampharos hits harder (because it doesn't need any more speed).

Could've had a castle, and worn a ring.........

GTGF (Mienshao) (M) @ Choice Band
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- High Jump Kick
- U-turn
- Poison Jab
- Knock Off

Mienshao is one of my 2 wallbreakers, along with Nidoking he basically takes down almost every single wall in UU (fuck vaporeon). Jolly Nature is used because I have a Choice Band, which adds some extra power to Mienshao's attacks. U-Turn is used whenever I predict a switch, so that I can get Mienshao to safety and switch to a different Pokemon. Poison Jab and Knock Off take care of....my supernatural opponents (fairy, ghost, psychic, watch out). High Jump Kick works in tandem with the Reckless ability, to produce a effect similar to....well, let's say if a Cloyster's +2 Icicle Spear is a machine gun, Mienshao's HJK is a rocket launcher.

But my heart is beating, and my pulses start, cathedrals in my heart......

Mylo (Lucario) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Close Combat
- Extreme Speed
- Crunch

Stealing the spot of physical sweeper from Cloyster, here comes Lucario (yikes that sounded cheezy)! Really basic set here, Justified is used so that I can switch Lucario into Dark-type moves, Close Combat because HJK is too risky, Extremespeed takes the faster pokemon's lives, and Crunch skull-fks my psychic and ghost (especially ghost) opponents.

the_light_of_shaymin_by_trachaaarmy-d60yel4.jpg

A simple plot, but I know one day, good things are coming our way....

SMALLNDEDLY (Shaymin) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Seed Flare
- Earth Power
- Healing Wish
- Psychic

Shaymin is easily the most replacable member of my team, yet he still packs a punch. Revenge-killing is Shaymin's job, and he does it very damn good. Seed Flare is Shaymin's main move, which fucks anything that isn't resisting it. Earth Power hurts Steel, and Fire types pretty bad, while Psychic is coverage. That's all there is to Shaymin. Oh wait, Healing Wish gets my sweepers (hi honchkrow and ampharos) back to the land of good health.

honchkrow_by_knocknoc-d3jf7mi.png

I saw the lights go down at the end of the scene, I saw the lights go down and they're standing in front of me.........

GANG$TA (Honchkrow) (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Moxie
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Drill Peck
- Night Slash
- Superpower

Honchkrow is my second revenge killer, but it also has another purpose: To annihilate opposing Pokemon. You see, once I see a weakened Pokemon and I have an opportunity to switch, I send in this guy. Attack, get Moxie boost, sweep. Sucker Punch and Night Slash are the core moves of this set, being backed by Drill Peck which picks off slower opponents and anything that resists Dark. Superpower is sort of my "desperate attack" move, which I only use on Steel-types and the like.

Nidoking_by_Delta2094.jpg

Through chaos as it swirls, it's us against the world........

DA KING (Nidoking) (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt

Nidoking is a wallbreaker, if you didn't know that from what I mentioned earlier. Sludge Wave and Earth Power are the main STAB moves of this set for obvious reasons, Thunderbolt zaps anything that's weak to it, Stealth Rock helps me slaughter sashed pokemon and others. Timid nature is used because Nidoking needs the extra power, and finally....wait I got nothing, time to close the RMT.

Firstly, you have no hazards on your team. Entry hazards are generally staple on every team, and that is because the punishment of even just Stealth Rock by itself can be invaluable in the right situation. I'd suggest running Stealth Rock > Flamethrower on Nidoking. Not only is Flamethrower not really needed on Nidoking, as it hits most Pokemon hard enough already with its STABs, Stealth Rock adds bonus utility on the switches that Nidoking forces, and can a lot of the time mean the difference between KOing something before it can KO you, and vs stall can rack up a lot of damage after all the switches for you to break through. It also helps a lot with those Pokemon which carry a SR weakness, making them much easier to take out.

As for your Honchkrow set for pussy bitches, here is what I suggest:
LO > Muscle Band
Brave Bird > Drill Peck
Adamant > Jolly
you are running Hyper offence and all of a sudden when it comes to your krow you want to forego a tonne of untapped power. Honchkrow's job is to murder things, and the recoil shouldn't matter when it means the difference between KOing something and not. Honchkrow needs all the power it can get to sweep, and running Adamant is generally better than Jolly as 1) you hit harder, 2) you make up for the loss of speed in priority Sucker Punch, and 3) it sits on a rather awkward speed tier anyway where it isn't outspeeding anything major with Jolly anyway.

Hope this helps a bit.

I definitely agree with the whole Honchkrow bit, but I think ice beam>flamethrower or SR on Nidoking. It's just straight up better coverage for it, and stealth rock can lose the offensive momentum that the whole team is built around.

Hey magikarpmandude, a few suggestions I'd like to make for your team. I understand that the premise of this team is to "just attack" but I think in order to have success with this playstyle, you'll need to incorporate a few things.

First of all, hazards are absolutely essential on any team, whether it be offense, balance or defense. I strongly support RowDog's suggestion of putting Stealth Rock over Flamethrower on Nidoking, as Nidoking generally forces a lot of switches and makes it pretty easy to get up a layer of rocks. It may not seem like Stealth Rocks are really that important, but they punish your opponent for making switches and wear down opposing Pokemon to give your own an easier time breaking through theirs. Since your team is really offensive, your opponent should have to switch around a lot and this will really give you a huge advantage in every game.

Another thing I'd recommend is to put Healing Wish on your Shaynin instead of Air Slash. Air slash doesn't really hit anything that Psychic already doesn't, so it seems a bit pointless as coverage. Healing Wish, on the other hand, can give another Pokemon a second chance at sweeping or wall breaking. For example, maybe your Honchkrow manages to break through Suicine (which, by the way, it can only do with Adamant nature, Life Orb, Brave Bird, and Stealth Rock on the field!) but is left with 8% HP and a burn in the process. If you use Healing Wish with Shaymin later in the game, your Honchkrow will be able to perform an entire second round of breaking, and if Suicune was their only physically defensive Pokemon, you'll have a much easier time racking up kills and Moxie boosts.

Finally I understand why Cloyster may seem like a decent option but in my personal experience it's simply too difficult to set up and sweep with. First of all, between Cloysters awful defensive typing, its weakness to Stealth Rock, and its piss-poor special defense, there are an extremely limited number of Pokemon that you can set up on. Even all the special walls can kill you or cripple you: Florges and umbreon can both easily OHKO after a layer of hazards and a shell smash, and blissey can toxic or thunder wave you. In addition, Suicune and Vaporeon are becoming really popular and you'll never get past those, along with others like Forretess, Mega Aggron, and even Metagross. So instead of Cloyster I suggest Swords Dance Lucario. Lucario has more setup opportunities (scarf hydreigon is possibly the most popular pokemon in the tier), a better typing to do so, and a higher capacity to clean at the end of the game thanks to a powerful form of priority. Lucario also poses a decent threat even without any boosts, unlike Cloyster. Note that it's immensely important to keep Stealth Rock on the opposing side, as it lets you net kills on the likes of Victini and others.

I'm on my phone right now so I can't post an importable set of Lucario, but here's what I would use: Max attack, max speed with an adamant nature, with Swords Dance/Close Combat/Extremespeed/a coverage move of your choice. The last slot can be filled with Bullet Punch (useful against Sableye and Mega Aerodactyl), Crunch (useful in certain situations against Trevenant for example), or another move you think might be advantageous. The Lucario should be holding a Life Orb.

I hope you find my suggestions useful, and good luck using this team in the future :]

1:Yeah, LO over Muscle Band on honchkrow seems good. i'll add it later.

2:Brave Bird is too risky to use with LO in my opinion, since that's a lot of recoil damage being done here.

3:Stealth Rock on Nidoking....sounds nice. I'll try it 4awhile.

4:God, healing wish on shaymin..........guess that seems reasonable. Approved.

5:I'm keeping Cloyster, but I'll experiment with lucario, so don't count that out yet.

It appears people have rated your team and that is cool but now for a good rate hehe bwoi,

First off, i'm not gonna bother changing any members on your team since its clear that you want to keep all your members. I would suggest Nidoqueen over Nidoking since it is honestly just a better Stealth Rocker but that's up to you. First suggestion I would make is using Explosion over Razor Shell on Cloyster. This allows you to soften up Pokemon like Suicune and Vaporeon who can otherwise wall a pretty significant portion of your team. Razor Shell is hitting Fire-types (that Rock Blast already maims) and Rock- and Ground-types who are both obliterated by STAB Icicle Spear anyway (and the only relevant Rock-type in UU is Mega Aerodactyl). Shaymin should be running Dazzling Gleam over Earth Power. Earth Power is doing next to nothing vs Jirachi and the likes anyway and the real reason to use Scarf Shaymin (especially on a team like this) is to catch Hydreigon's off guard since it does put in a lot of work vs your team. Listen to everyone when they say Brave Bird is most certainly worth it on Honchkrow and drop Night Slash for Roost as a way to offset some of that recoil in a pinch. As for EV optimising the only one to consider is Mega Ampharos. After an Agility with Max Speed it hits 378, which is just a pointless speed to hit, so you could drop 8 EVs off of Speed and put them into HP to give you a little bit more bulk while still outspeeding Alakazam and Crobat creeping Alakazam after a boost. Also move the HP EVs on Honchkrow and Cloyster to Special Defense to allow them both 4 switch ins to SR without dying.

That's all from me, hopefully that helped and good luck with your team :]

Edit: Although I do agree with Dudeman on using SD luke over Cloyster, if you want to use Cloyster then you should run Explosion on it :]

alright. i recently kicked out cloyster for sd luke, gonna apply changes later (sent frm my phone).

edit: yeah i'm keeping nidoking, for the sole purpose of having more firepower than nidoqueen. good idea tho

I'd suggest slashing crunch on Lucario for EQ or Bullet punch. There currently aren't a lot of bulky ghost and psychics in the tier that promote the use of Crunch. Most of them you will hit harder with EQ anyways. Also it'd be great to get past M-aero with bullet punch or nail nidos/jirachi/metagross with EQ. Crunch is obsolete in today's metagame
