XY OU Beautiful Nightmare - Offense Team (1600+)

Cynara

Banned deucer.
So this is my first RMT thread and deciding to post my favourite XY OU team that I currently use in the metagame

The team at a glance

Team building Process

So I started off thinking about building a team around Mega charizard-X for a change to give it a go.

Charizard_MegaX_XY.gif

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Roost
So I started off with this charizard-X set rather than the standard sweeper set, After a dragon dance Charizard reaches 406 speed. Which speed creeps 252+ speed mega manectric who is 1hko'd by Earthquake anyways. All the the relevant scarfers outspeed Charizard-X after a dragon dance such as Landorus, Garchomp etc with 252 speed. so I invested some of the Evs in HP to allow charizard to Successfully set up more dragon dances and have more bulk.
After Help from suggested comments, thanks to Hairy Toenail I have change the zard to 184 speed jolly nature to help me beat scarfed lando after a dragon dance, and Changed to roost for better survability.
Landorus-Therian-Forme_BW.gif

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
Finally onto the hazard setter and common lead of my team, After starting the team with zard-X I needed a partner that could deal with the physical mons that threaten Zard-X such as Landorus-therian itself as majority tend to be scarfed so a defensive Landorus-Therian came to mind. with it's good defensive bulk coupled with intimidate it makes a great physical wall and can switch into many physical threats and set down hazards and U-turn out. Edge-Quake for coverage. again hairy toenail suggested a new spread with 72 speed to out speed and KO bisharp if it decides to knock off

Azumarill_XY.gif

Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Play Rough
- Superpower/Aqua Jet
- Knock Off

After pairing up Charizard-X and Landorus I needed a 3rd Pokemon to help complement them both and Azumarill came to mind, coupled with an assualt vest, it becomes a decent special walll. Evs are probably inefficient but mostly standard when it comes to Assualt vest azumarill sets. Superpower is there to give any ferrothorn that switches in a hard time, however iron barbs and the somewhat common Rocky helmet ferrothorn can really wear it down. However Azumarill is there to wall Keldeo and most greninja variants which my team can struggle with if I really misplay.

Raikou_XY.gif

Raikou @ Leftovers/Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Extrasensory
- Hidden Power [Ice]

After I added Azumarill and Landorus, I was kinda stuck with what to add next, but then I realised Raikou would be a great addition to the team, volt switch to build up momentum with the team, I choose life orb instead of choice specs so ease up predicition incase I make the wrong play. but this works in a similar way to the classic Mega-manectric, Landorus, Azumarill core that is very present in today's metagame. Raikou is also able of beating the very common Thundurus 1 on 1. After a few suggestions, I've decided to replace Raikou with either leftovers or an assualt vest to get it survivability as life orb wears down it's life alot due to switching it alot through out a game

Latias_XY.gif

Latias (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

With a charizard, you need hazard support, since Im running stealth rock only, I decided to run a offensive latias with healing wish, very standard set and standard Evs. Latias is essentially the glue to the team and ends up saving me in games thanks to healing wish to give any pokemon a free switch in and restore their HP to full and free it of any status that may cripple it, so latias main role is to support the team, especially charizard-X and essentially to give it a second life at sweeping.

Bisharp_XY.gif

Bisharp @ Black Glasses
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Pursuit/Swords Dance/Low Kick
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Iron Head

Bisharp was the last pokemon I added to the team, essentially to check the Lati@s and various other things and to provide Priority sucker punch and ability to Pursuit threats, however it's rather predictable to play against, especially higher ladder and will cause mind games. You could run Life orb over black glasses, However I prefer Black glasses to make the opponent think about my Item more, Once again Standard pokemon are standard.

Anyways that concludes the team building process! thanks for reading, please leave any suggestions you may have!

I like it but thundurus is a better choice than raikou. Here are some threats: Landorous-t mega-manectric greninja and mega-venusaur.

Generally Thunudurus is better than Raikou and prehaps I'll try it on the team, but honestly the niche to outspeed Gengar Lati@s and thundurus is good, so those were points taken into consideration when making the team. If I have to speed tie with other thundurus to 'beat' them in a game, thats a risk

solid team i would say take off lando for hippowdown as it can check bird spam, drill, and a ton of other threats without taking damage from rocks as much as lando did and having life orb raikou also pressures movement throughout your team other than that solid based team.

Hippo should running max def max hp stone edge, earthquake, srocks, whirlwind or slack off . I like whirl wind because some mons can set up on hippo pretty easily. hope i helped

Hmm I really wanna disagree with hippo, Intimindate does have uses + the ground immunity, but i will give it a go.

-1 252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 248 HP / 236+ Def Landorus-T: 123-145 (32.2 - 38%) -- 1.8% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252+ Atk Choice Band Talonflame Brave Bird vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Hippowdon: 151-178 (35.9 - 42.3%) -- 92.4% chance to 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

then theres the momentum Landorus can provide with U-turn, along with the faster rocks and honestly I feel Landorus outclasses Hippowdown. also that means my team is more prone to special attacks, Hippowdon is really uncapable of taking more than 1 special hit. not really relevant but whatever

I can understand your statement. hippowdon is outclassed by lando but hippo gets recovery. I guess you could work around bird spam just a suggestion to help your mons stay alive longer. thanks for taking it to account though

Ok so you have a core/ team very similar to mine but I have a suggestion or two

1.Maybe you could run an assault vest in raikou for some extra special bulk on your team. I know your Azumarill has one but I feel as Raikou can beat more mons assault then specs/scarf/orb. But this is overall really minor and is up to you.

2. And maybe over pursuit/sdance on bisharp you can try low kick as it allows it to hit ferrothorn hard and Maybe consider jolly as the extra speed lets you outspeed something that I am forgetting right now but may remember it later.
a solid team overall hope you have a good run with it!

thanks for the rate and Yeah, I might consider AV on Raikou, the /only/ reason I used LO was for offensive presence to get certain 2hkos on the latis but they arent really much of a threat thanks to bisharp, I'll slash Low kick and give it a try :)

Jolly bisharp beats Jolly 252 Tyranitar Dragon dance set before it dances etc etc anything that doesn't run max speed, Adamant bisharp etc, but Mews speed creep jolly Heracross these days sadly

Hi Cranham, nice team you have there. I haven't tried out this team yet to see any major problems it may have, but I do have some minor suggestions.

On your zard, I would recommend running roost > earthquake. You say that you have eq to hit mega manectric after you are +1, however flare blitz accomplishes the same feat and frees up a move slot. The other notable mon that eq would hit is heatran, and while eq is nice to nail heatran you do have 2 other mons that can beat tran quite effectively in Landorus and Azumarill. Roost also allows you to switch into stealth rock a bit more freely knowing that you can safely heal up. One final suggestion on your charizard is to change your speed to jolly and running 184 speed, this speed stat hits 310 which is just enough to beat max speed jolly scarf lando at +1 which you can ohko with flare blitz after a bit of prior damage.

Calc on mega manectric: 252 Atk Tough Claws Mega Charizard X Flare Blitz vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Manectric: 313-369 (111.3 - 131.3%) -- guaranteed OHKO

Charizard @ Charizardite X
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 72 HP / 252 Atk / 184 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Roost

For Raikou I suggest that you don't run life orb on it as that really helps your opponent whittle it down and makes it hard for Raikou to do one of its main jobs in OU: Check bird spam. So I am in agreement with Shadow_Sneak on changing the item to AV to help tank special hits, or to leftovers to get some passive recovery and better handle bird spam. Yes you do have a landorus to help check bird as well, but lando is easily wittled by repeated stealth rock switch ins to tank hits, having a secondary check in the back is always helpful.

Raikou @ Leftovers/Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Extrasensory
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Here's just a preference of mine, not sure if you want to take this advice, but I like running 72 speed on bulky rocks landorus to catch adamant bisharps and OHKO them before they can knock off and ruin your recovery.

Landorus-Therian (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 184 Def / 72 Spe
Impish Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn

Thanks for these changes! since 2 people have suggested AV raikou I will replace Life orb with Assualt vest on my, team and adjust my evs accordingly, Changing Charizard to Jolly with roost seems like an amazing idea, but it needs 2 dragon dances to KO a healthy landorus however another way to combat it is good

You should experiment with Running Knock Off instead of U Turn on the Lando.

Banded Azu can also be good for a nice surprise, but Greninja may be a good fit in that spot too.

Great team.
