Well, this is my first RMT, my first XY team, my first Doubles team, and my first team that I created solo. I know that, given my experience (or lack thereof) this team will probably be a load of garbage (and no, I am not using Garbodor!) but that's the whole point of me making it - to get experience. Here goes.
Blaziken @ Blazikenite
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 80 HP / 252 Atk / 176 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Protect
- Flare Blitz
- Low Kick
- Stone Edge
Blaziken is one of my two main sweepers (the other being Gardevoir), and the mon that I am building the team around. I chose him because he is the lone Ubers mon allowed in Doubles, and he had to have been banned for a reason. His goal is to use Protect to build up that speed boost and then take down whatever gets in his way!
Protect, as I stated in the above paragraph, is for stalling while Speed Boost builds up. Flare Blitz and Low Kick are the main attacking moves, with each one STABing on one of Blaziken's types. After all, neither Fire nor Fighting can take on everything alone! Finally, Stone Edge is for taking down mons that neither Flare Blitz nor Low Kick can handle.
Gardevoir @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Telepathy
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Moonblast
- Psyshock
- Thunderbolt
- Trick
Gardevoir is the other main sweeper, and the mon that I originally started with before noticing that Blaziken is legal in Doubles. I chose her as my initial sweeper, and decided to keep her even after adding Blaziken because (and this is true in any game, not just Pokemon) I tend to prefer playing sweepers as opposed to, for example, walls.
Moonblast is Gardevoir's main attacking move, and should be used as such. Psyshock and Thunderbolt are for the mons that Moonblast can't handle, and Trick is for those situations where I want to get rid of either my opponent's item or my own Choice Scarf.
Hitmontop (M) @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 136 Atk / 60 Def / 60 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Fake Out
- Close Combat
- Wide Guard
- Feint
Hitmontop is in there for Wide Guard and Feint. Wide Guard can keep the Earthquakes off of Blaziken, and Feint can get rid of pesky opposing Protects. (Man, I hate it when Protect is used against me!) I picked Hitmontop mainly because of Wide Guard and me being afraid of Blaziken getting hit by an Earthquake.
Fake Out makes sure that the opponent isn't going to be doing anything on turn 1. Close Combat is Hitmontop's attacking move, which is good for, well, attacking! Wide Guard, as I said earlier, keeps the Earthquakes and other area-of-effect moves at bay. Finally, Feint gets rid of Protect, which is one move that I absolutely detest being used against me.
Bisharp @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Iron Head
- Protect
Bisharp is mainly there for his typing, being able to STAB mons that can STAB my sweepers, and do it well. He could be called a revenge killer, which is why I picked him.
Knock Off, like Gardevoir's Trick, gets rid of opposing items, and is also Bisharp's main atacking move. Sucker Punch is there as a priority move, and Iron Head is for mons that resist the other two attacing moves. Finally, Protect is Protect - really annoying when it belongs to the opponent, but really useful when it's yours.
Goodra @ Dragon Fang
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 72 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Thunderbolt
- Protect
Goodra has excellent coverage and amazing Special Defense, which makes him a good special wall. Thus, he earned a spot on my team. The template from the Strategy Pokedex that I used for this Goodra specified a Life Orb as the item; however, Bisharp already had a Life Orb, so I substituted a Dragon Fang.
Draco Meteor is a ridiculously powerful attacking move, and although it lowers Goodra's Special Attack, we're talking about a wall, not a sweeper, so it doesn't matter as much. Fire Blast and Thunderbolt are there to hit mons that are weak to fire and electric, respectively, and Protect is, well, Protect; it seems ideal for a wall.
Scrafty @ Assault Vest
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 240 HP / 224 Atk / 44 Def
Impish Nature
- Fake Out
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Stone Edge
Scrafty is another wall. He also plays a support role with Fake Out and Knock Off, and in fact, I picked him more as support than as a wall.
Fake Out is good for helping to set up things such as Blaziken's Speed Boost, and Knock Off, just like on Bisharp, gets rid of opposing items. Also like Bisharp, Scrafty uses Knock Off as his main attacking move. Drain Punch is there to hit mons that are weak to fighting or resistant to dark, and Stone Edge is for mons that are weak to rock.
Any constructive criticism is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
