VGC First RMT for VGC

Hi guys,I'm Unsu 7 (I'm italian so my english is not so good sorry),and this is my first rmt for the vgc 2014.I'm testing this team, but there are some things that make it don't work, but because I'm new to the double battles and in particular to the vgc style I really can't notice what doesn't work.
Now,to the team:

tyranitar-mega.gif
Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 180 HP / 12 Atk / 132 Def / 4 SpD / 180 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Protect
- Crunch
- Rock Slide

Tyranitar is the MVP of the team, after a DD only a few things (ex. a Ferrothorn's TWave or a Rotom-W's WoW) can ruin his day.Dragon Dance is the setup move, and permits tyra to get a very beautiful +1/+1 to his Speed and Attack, outspeeding a great portion of the metagame barring some scarfer lice Salamence.Protect is a staple move in doubles,a thing that I had to learn in the first battles on the simulator, and protects him from the dangerous attacks of the other pokemons.Crunch is a very useful (for the defense drop chance) and powerful STAB,even if it isn't a spread move still makes its work;Rock Slide is,instead,a very beautiful STAB-spread move with an equally beautiful chance of flinching. The fact that Tyranitar is mainly with a special build in this metagame helps me a little with the "special walls" that I may encounter.Overall, this is the pokemon that I really want to keep on this team, because I really like his design and power.

amoonguss.gif
Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 236 HP / 36 Def / 236 SpD
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Rage Powder
- Protect

Amoonguss is a nice partner for Tyranitar, thanks to his really helpful support moves. The first is Spore, this move alone gets the greatest part of the ragequits, and lets me neutralize a dangerous pokemon on the side of the opponent.Giga Drain is useful for keeping Amo healthy, and not being total Taunt bait.Rage Powder is the real reason for Amoonguss being a so great partner for my Tyranitar:in the turn in which I press this powder button, his partner (hopefully Tyranitar for the setup) can be free of doing what he wants because (barring grass-types or spread-moves) all the moves are drained by this duck-faced mushroom.Protect is always the move for protecting him from other attacks, because very often he become double-targeted by the opponent.Black Sludge is the item of choice,as Sitrus Berry is already taken and permits him to recover at least some PS for turn.
talonflame.gif
Talonflame @ Sharp Beak/Sky Plate
Ability: Gale Wings
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Protect
- Tailwind

Ahhhhh,Talonflame.I quickly passed from a strong hate to a very strong love for this fu... bird. His typing alone, like Charizard's,it's often underestimated:in fact, barring Rock-type moves (read:Rock Slide) Fire/Flying is a very good defensive typing, resisting grass, steel and fairy, three very common types in VGC.Again,Protect protects me.Tailwind lets my entire team to gain the so much needed speed for them, and gets priority thanks to Gale Wings.Flare Blitz,my Fire-type STAB,lets the bird murder all the steels that are everywhere in VGC like Ferrothorn,Aegislash and Mawile.Last move:I really have to explain why priority STAB Brave Bird is so good?I think he has already demonstrated how much can be good in the OU tier, but that is another story. In VGC too, this powerful attack can instantly kill everything fragile like Greninja or Lucario, and severely damage middle-bulk pokemons. The item is Sharp Beak (or Sky Plate,I don't know what's the difference),for powering up a little BB,but I'm thinking of switching it to Safety Goggles, because I really hate sleep statuses that are everywhere because of the lacking of Sleep Clause, sigh.

rotom-wash.gif
Rotom-Wash @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 116 SpA / 116 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Hydro Pump
- Thunderbolt
- Protect

Rotom is the bulky water of my team.Protect again protects him from the multiple attacks that attracts (mainly Grass and Electric-type moves).WoW has a great utility in neutering some phisical attackers like MMawile and MKangaskhan (barring Facade MKangaskhan,I really hate her).Hydro Pump, despite its terrible accuracy,is the only Water STAB that it gets, and (when it hits) hits really strong thanks to the medium investiment in SpAtk.Thunderbolt is the Electric STAB,a very useful move with a very useful offensive typing because hits lots of the metagame for at least neutral damage, with a small (for me a really small) chance of paralyse the opponent. The ev spread helps me with a bit of SpAtk but investing also a little in speed and in SpDef,mainly because he attracts often only special attacks.Sitrus berry makes it regain a bit of life when under half-HP.

salamence.gif
Salamence @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Dragon Pulse
- Hydro Pump

Salamence is a very common poke in the VGC metagame, and now I understand why.The not-so-bad bulk+Intimidate make him a lot more resistant to physical attacks, and the equipped Choice Scarf makes him move before a lot of opponents like garchomp, letting me to outright KO him with a DMeteor, the most powerful move of his set.The other STAB move,Dragon Pulse is a "safety move" but sometimes is just too weak and really lets me down.Hydro Pump is often a surprise and sometimes makes Salamence capable of beating Fire,Rock and Ground types more reliably that with the other moves.Fire Blast is absolutely a staple for the set,as permits me to incinerate the steel types of the tier like scizor, aegislash or klefki (Stupid TWave+Swagger). As already said,Choice Scarf is the item of choice,'cause adding a timid nature and max speed is way faster than most of the meta.

aegislash.gif
Aegislash @ Lum Berry
Ability: Stance Change
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- King's Shield
- Wide Guard
- Flash Cannon
- Shadow Ball

Aegi is my Steel-type of choice.Mainly because he's a real tank, with his greats 150/150 defenses and with his wonderful 150/150 offenses, like a deoxys fusion lol.King's Shield is very useful for changing his form to Shield/Blade whenever I want and for protecting him from all attacks barring status moves.Wide Guard it's a very very very very very useful protecting move, because lets me avoid spread moves like Earthquake,Heat Wave or Rock Slide (I'm looking at you my Talon).Flash Cannon is my Steel STAB,and has good neutral coverage with Shadow Ball, covering me from a lot of things like Chandelure,Gardevoir (that I hate),other Aegislash and also Psychic types like Meowstic and Gothitelle.Lum Berry is counter for status moves (looking at you Spore-Dark Void),and the 0 Spe IVs let Aegi counter well Trick room strategies (often with the help of Amoonguss).

So,this is my team, and I hope you can help me in making it better.
Thanks so much!
Unsu7

Alright like the guy above me said, solid team. I also agree with LO ok Talonflame and also rocky helmet is the superior item for Amoonguss. You can rage powder redirect moves and have pokemon like Kangaskhan take some nice damage plus you can always EV your Amoonguss to take Brave birds from talon so I don't suggest cons berry. Best item for Aegislash is definitely leftovers and I would also recommend substitute over wide guard; not only does it win against Kanga (set up sub so sucker punch will fail) but it also works against mawile since some people choose not to run fire fang on it. Sacred sword could work over flash cannon too if you want to do more damage to kanga but cannon is a lot better cause intimidate. Other than that it's a really nice team bro, good luck with your team :D

Yeah I've used WP Aegislash before and although it is good it's really reckless and most people will agree that leftovers on Aegi is a lot better and about the coba berry Amoonguss, why would you run an item just for one pokemon??? Rocky helmet is better overall while coba berry is only good against t flame.

Also this guy has like 3 pokemon good against t flame and Salamence with intimidate so why should he even worry about it? Just switch in T tar, rotom, or Aegislash lol. All those are pretty much why you shouldn't run coba berry at least for this team.

Thank You guys! So The main changes are:
-coba berry/rocky helmet on amoonguss;
-different ev spread+nature on rotom;
-life orb+overheat talonflame.
For talonflame does hasty nature outspeed of relevant with those evs? I'm referring to the fact that most of the time I will just spam bb lol.Is a lonely/naughty nature better (for powering up bb) or I just stick with more speed?
Thanks so much guys

There is a big difference between lonely and naughty? Because I already have a naughty fletchling and if I can avoid another breeding I'll be very happy ;D thank you!

Yes because I made some calcs and forse example a modest rotom's thunderbolt even with lonely in an OHKO...So I'm alright if I go with 68 HP / 252 Atk / 12 SpA / 4 SpD / 172 Spe with a naughty nature?

For amoonguss I suggest 236 HP 148 def and 124 special defense bold with rocky helmet too, this spread lets it survive fake out + return from mega Kanga adamant. Also standard mawile is 252 HP 180 special defense careful so I wouldn't EV my Talonflame to OHKO that, mainly overheat is there for ferrothorn.

How about a naughty spread like this
4 HP / 252 Atk / 64 Def / 12 SpA / 176 Spe?
I seems that lets talon tank a brave bird from another talon (maybe lo talon too) and ko back with his bb...or it seems I don't know

The only problem with that spread is that, while you do get slightly more Defense, you have abysmal Special bulk and the little boost in Defense won't make too much of a difference because Talonflame is generally frail anyway.

I'm well aware what the standard M-Mawile is. Some players still use 252 HP / 4 SpD spreads, iirc Aaron Zheng did in his Regionals team, so using the 12 EVs which won't go to any use in another stat just to ensure the KO is harmless. With the EVs I think the spread does around 50% to Ray Rizzo's Mawile, and Flare Blitz won't be doing too much more after Intimidate and comes with the drawback of recoil damage. As for your Amoonguss EV spread, I don't think preparing specifically for Kangaskhan is a good idea since M-Kangaskhan is currently almost non-existant, and he has Aegislash to check Kangaskhan. The EV spread he has right now is perfectly fine, and happens to be recommended on Eggy Emporium, which is run by experienced VGC players. If you do want a new EV spread, Unsu7, you can find a bunch of different spreads on Nugget Bridge for you to check out.
Just saying but i am pretty experienced in VGC and also Mega Kanga is nonexistant??? What are you talking about? I was also stating the Mawile spread just to tell Unsu that there are other Mawile spreads so don't expect Overheat to OHKO 100% of the time. I wasn't telling him not to run that spread because the spread is fine, it's just don't be alarmed if Mawile doesn't get OHKOed by your overheat. The amoonguss spread isn't just preparing for kanga FYI (which is funny coming from a guy who suggested coba berry amoonguss since the only thing that is good for is against T flame), i noted kanga because it was probably the most important thing for it to survive. Plus it doesn't stray from "standard" Amoonguss spread either.

I don't want to turn this thread into a big argument, but I happen to be very experienced in VGC aswell. Kangaskhan is basically non-existant among serious players. At the Texas, Philly, and Arizona fall regionals, 4 top cut teams out of a total 32 used Mega Kangaskhan, while 11 used Talonflame and at Worlds no teams in top cut had M-Kangaskhan on them. Additionally, of the top 10 used Pokemon at VGC '15 regionals, 7 were predominantly Special attackers, so a more Specially Defensive spread would be preferred. Better threats to prepare for would be Hydreigon, Rotom-H, or Gardevoir who were used on 9, 9, and 8 top cut teams respectively, twice or more than twice as many as Mega Kangaskhan for all three Pokemon. M-Kangaskhan is seeing virtually no use among high-level players and it is so easy to check considering Intimidate and Will-O-Wisp are very common and easy to slap on a team, and Unsu7 has an Aegislash on his team.
Yeah same here, sorry if i came off as rude lol. You do have a point there to be honest but i wouldn't say that kanga is non existant cause it still is a really great pokemon and many serious players still use it. The problem is, if he devotes everything to having a team against special attackers then physical attackers like kanga, luke, and t tar will tear through. Also Unsu, are you running sub lefties on your Aegislash? If not then i recommend you change to it for kanga and mawile that doesn't run fire fang. WP is good in its own right but it just doesn't fit your team. Again sorry for sounding rude Honey Badger lol (i take pokemon wayyy too seriously... :P).
