Super Princess Peach says hi. :P Although I haven't played it, I have heard that Mario is the "plumber in distress" in the game.

Back on topic, I'm glad to see Nintendo really getting into developing the hell out of this game. What with storylines, new characters, and such. It's going to be one hell of a Brawl! I also like how they implemented the new evil force with some old Nintendo "villians" like Petey Pirahna. If only R.O.B. hadn't went evil...he was my favorite character in Mario Kart DS. :(
 
Looks like the Subspace Emissary is just Adventure mode but with an actual plot! And it's different for each character, makes it even better, boy I wish I had a Wii =0
 
Sonuis, Link was still left-handed in the GCN version remember? They won't be making him fully right-handed.

Let's hope she gets out or something if you beat Petey Pirahna. I was really looking forward to a Mario/Peach/Shiek/Kirby beat up.

If Petey is in fact playable as well as a boss, it may be just an upscaled version you fight. Not that I'm saying he will be, I detest the thought.
 
Well they wouldn't allow you to have more than four characters on the screen at once in a regular game, so... I'd speculate that you get the princesses' help in at least one fight.

Also, petey being in there is cool. If they make you fight him, I see no reason it couldn't become a playable character, since they would've already developed a moveset.
 
Honestly the idea of "Petey is only a boss in the single player mode and isn't a PC" seems quite silly to me...I don't think Petey is in the same vein as Giga Bowser and the Hands were.
 
Petey looks cool, and also the sound it does...

Anyway, i'm not bothered because of Peach being kidnapped, i'm sure is just a part of the storyline, so classic of Nintendo anyway, which is fun in some ironic way.
 
Why would the piranha plant be a playable character? It seems like every time they show someone new everybody gets all excited and starts saying they're playable.
 
I'm betting that Peach (and/or Zelda) does something to the effect of escaping herself... I mean because how else would she have her own storyline when you play as her in the story mode?

Edit: @DM: If that were the case we'd be hearing "Ancient Minister is going to be a playable character I know it!"

Really it's not that far fetched to imagine Petey as a character. I mean he was one of the most requested character that Sakurai stated he was considering. (I'm pretty sure. It was that poll, if anyone knows what I'm talking about. I'll find a link somewhere)

I really don't get the Petey hate. People just seem to inexplicably hate him. :/ (this sentence isn't directed at anyone in particular)
 
I think "You must defeat Petey Piranha with -insert name- to unlock" would be cool...

Regardless, all we really have to go on is what we've experienced in Melee and I'm inclined to believe that since the previous Adventure mode "bosses" were Smash originals, and Petey is not, that he'll be playable. It just seems strange to me if Sakurai brings in these new franchise characters and you can't play as them...

Why does that seem so strange? This is the biggest Smash game yet, just because they've brought in a character from old Nintendo lore doesn't mean it's automatically playable.

Besides, it's like DM said. If you saw a trailer of the Adventure mode in SSBM, would you instantly assume Koopas and Redeads would be playable?

They managed to incorporate Ivysaur.

I'm not saying he will be, I'm just saying it's possible.

Let's see... leaves... sludge... whirlwinds... ramming its huge body into you... it has plenty of options open to it.

Special moves are NEVER a problem,like the above poster pointed, there has been plenty characters that didn't had a single move on their original games and were completely made-up for the Smash bros games.
 
If Petey's playable, then Ridley sure as hell better be playable.

(He has his own song, after all.)

More likely, though, will be that they'll make Assist Trophies out of them.

The source may be from:

"Mario used Hydro Pump! Petey Pirahna FAINTED!"

Either as Boss or playable char, Petey is still a cool addition.

My question is this though... what is Metaknight doing trolling around with the Ancient Minister? I mean, it did fly back to the Halbeard.
