XY NU "They Don't Showcase Innovation Unless You Hit 1800" (An End of XY NU Joke RMT)

Drawing (3).png

INTRODUCTION
Hey guys i'm Can-Eh-Dian, if you don't know me by now you either don't play NU or don't come into the NU room at all. I'm here today to post a different kind of RMT than what you're used to. With everyone starting to post their final RMT's for XY NU, I decided that I needed to as well. The only problem was that all my teams are ass and I had nothing to post. So I decided that I needed to start "innovating" and "countering the meta." I ended up throwing 6 mons with "innovative" sets onto a team with the help of TheCanadianWifier and the team was born! Tbh it was either this or furret BP

This team is actually really fun to use and has done surprisingly well while testing. I think it only has 1 or 2 losses on the ladder and has won an NU room tournament (shows how good NU room tours are lmao). It also beat critically acclaimed players swagilyph and QueenOfLuvdiscs. I haven't laddered extensively with it due to the fact that I don't enjoy playing on the ladder lol.

TEAMBUILDING PROCESS

I wanted to use Scarf Feraligatr because I knew it was bad and that people would get mad when this set destroyed them, however I knew Seismitoad existed. I originally had Freeze-Dry Piloswine to destroy Toad turn 1, but then I realized that it didn't kill anything at all except for toad so I made it a normal set.

I added Adamant Band E-Vire because it's the only way that E-vire can actually do damage to stuff.

I had wanted to use SD Jumpluff earlier this gen but Hollywood laughed at me because he said it was bad. Seemed like a perfect fit for this kind of team.

I realized that my team was entirely made up of physical attackers. I had wanted to use Lampent on a team ever since I used it in conquest. I soon realized that it beats so much standard shit right now it's ridiculous.

I needed a last mon. I searched far and wide for a mon that could still be offensive while checking Fighting Types. Then I remembered that I 6-0'd someone with SubPunch Granbull once so I was like why the fuck not.

IN DEPTH

Note: Nicknames are based on stupid things QoL and iplaytennislol say in skype call

HELLO? (Feraligatr) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet / Superpower
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Scarf Feraligatr. This little piece of "innovation is easily the trolliest set i've ever run. I honestly wasn't expecting much when I decided to run this set to fuck with people, but it ended up being hilariously effective. Adamant because Jolly is weak and Feraligatr is around the same speed as Mesprit, so I figured Adamant Scarf would work. Aqua Jet and Superpower are interchangeable, there really is no preference from my end. The nickname comes from whenever Tennis or Queen gets rekt by a bad set and feel the need to voice their opinion.

EZest Rocks OML (Piloswine) @ Eviolite
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def
Adamant Nature
- Ice Shard
- Earthquake
- Icicle Crash
- Stealth Rock

Piloswine is a really underrated mon rn. It actually takes on a lot of standard mons in the meta with it's impressive bulk and great Dual-STAB coverage. It used to be a Freeze-Dry set but this team can only handle so much innovation at once. Thick Fat is a great ability which makes it resist Ice and neutral to Fire which comes in handy a lot. Ice Shard is very useful priority for a stealth rock setter and the rest of the moves are pretty standard. The name comes from Piloswine's ability to get up rocks rather easily.

Act Like This Kills (Electivire) @ Choice Band
Ability: Motor Drive
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Wild Charge
- Low Kick / Volt Switch
- Ice Punch
- Earthquake

Electivire is bad don't get me wrong, but this set was actually a lot of fun to run. Adamant Choice Band is the only set to run because it's the only set that actually kills stuff. Ironically I say this but it mostly does 70% to shit that I would have hoped that it OHKO'd. Wild Charge is the obligatory STAB move that isn't powerful enough, Low Kick and Volt Switch are interchangeable depending on whatever, Ice Punch is a coverage move that isn't powerful enough, and Earthquake provides more coverage that fails to do enough damage to satisfy me. The name comes from Tennis' habit to stay in in dumb situations, quoting this as an excuse.

CLICK THE X (Jumpluff)
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spd
Jolly Nature
- Sleep Powder
- Acrobatics
- Seed Bomb
- Swords Dance
Jumpluff has really fallen from the spotlight as an average cleaner in BW2 NU. However, even without Flying Gem it's been really fun to use on this team as most games end with it or Gatr cleaning. Jumpluff sits in a godly base 110 speed tier that outspeeds all of the relevant threats in the meta. After an SD it pretty much wins against offensive teams and Infliltrator is a lot of fun to abuse. Grass/Flying Coverage is ridiculously good in the meta right now and Jumpluff sports STAB on both of them. The name is pretty self-explanatory imo.

WHERE'S MY BURN (Lampent) @ Eviolite
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpAtk / 4 Spd
Modest Nature
- Will-O-Wisp
- Shadow Ball
- Fire Blast
- Energy Ball

Lampent is a god oml, the amount of relevant shit that this thing either checks or hard counters a lot more than I originally thought. Out of all the ass mons that I put on this team, Lampent is the only one that I would actually consider putting on a real team. It's pretty bulky with eviolite and hits pretty hard if you're invested. It also gets the coveted Fire/Grass coverage which hits so many relevant threats. Wisp is great for switch-ins and burns are just a useful status in general. The name comes from Queen's favourite saying whenever he clicks scald.

IT'S FINE (Granbull) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spd
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Focus Punch
- Play Rough
- Fire Punch / Earthquake

SubPunch Granbull is a set that I wanted to use on this team for no particular reason whatsoever. It's a pretty good disrupter as well as a nice offensive check to fighting types, two things that help the team. Evs are to outspeed min speed Hariyama and other slowmons. Fighting/Fairy/Fire/Ground is really nice coverage, especially when behind a sub as it eases prediction. Fire Punch hits Vileplume, while Earthquake hits Garbodor, it's your choice really. The name refers to what Tennis says when a threat appears and he doesn't know what to do.

alright clearly this is too much innovation for one team so I will change this for the better. Scarf Feraligatr is a bad set and is unviable so use SD Feraligatr instead, its got that power and can sweep. Jumpluff sucks and is a poor sweeper and your team is weak to tspikes so use Offensive Vileplume, which is better than Jumpluff and is a good gluemon. I just removed both of your sweepers so you might as well go with Belly Drum Slurpuff over Granbull so that you can still 6-0 teams at will.

252+ Atk Choice Band Electivire Wild Charge vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Audino: 262-310 (63.9 - 75.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Light Ball Pikachu Volt Tackle vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Audino: 282-333 (68.7 - 81.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery

Your electivire is weaker than Pikachu so use Physical Light Ball Pikachu instead stronger STAB and cooler mon, poke represent. Lampent I dont see as too much of an issue, but you might as well throw Trick Room on it to help out Vileplume 6-0 opponents. Freeze Dry is a must.
