UU Simple Questions Thread

I would assume that trapping like that is much more difficult to pull off efficiently and consistently ever since Mew left UU. It can work, and there are a number of Pokemon that have a combination of moves and stats that can do the job ok, but that doesn't mean that they are viable in any way. Fast Encore/Leech Seed/Infestation Jumpluff can do a lot of work, so if you REALLY want to try something like it, give it a shot. Bear in mind that its situational at best, and isn't nearly as good as Infestation Mew of the past.

Have all the new mega stones been implemented into PS! yet? I get the impression people have been able to play with them, but it keeps rejecting my UU team when I try to use Altarite...

You can't use mega Altaria, mega sableye or mega sharp along with one other I think, because the mega stones are spelled incorrectly. New Megas are implemented though.

GREETINGS, MORTALS!

I'm interested in joining the UU metagame with a team, but I have no clue what I'm doing beyond... Okay, I have no clue what I'm doing, and I'm wondering: For a proper team analysis, would it be easier to ask here, create a thread or is there a specific thread for it?

EDIT: Nvm, TO THE TEAM RATING!

How exactly is the new ORAS UU going to be tiered? Will everything that was banned in XY UU be given another chance (ie victini, diggersby etc), or will we keep the XY UU tier, then just add/remove mons as needed?

That is currently being worked out among the council :] An OP for ORAS UU will be dropped more than likely tomorrow, so hold tight buddE, but for now, it should be staying relatively similar to XY UU in order to try and maintain some order during SPL :]

Yeah as eaglehawk said Bronzong is the single best counter to it. Resists its STABs, takes nothing from Earth Power and OHKOs back with Gyro Ball only having to watch out for HP Fire. Steel types in general are pretty decent as they can switch into its STABs, so stuff like Scarf Jirachi, Bullet Punch Metagross or Specially Defensive Empoleon that outspeed it or can tank an Earth Power are solid answers. Bulky waters like Vappy and Cune are also decent enough checks. It's actually surprisingly frail after Mega evolution which makes it a lot easier to play around.

When are the new tiers shifts happening so there won't be bullshit like mega altaria and mega sceptile down in nu (with ou or uu taking them instead)?

Tier shifts are due at the end of this month or the end of December, but there won't be enough usage in that time to move Altaria or Sceptile up. However, the Mega Stones will almost certainly get the boot more quickly. But this doesn't really belong here, you might want to ask down in the NU thread.

Actually they are adjusting the usage stats to weight heavily on the ORAS release so new megas like MAlt may actually be moving up sooner rather than later, all to be more responsive to the shifts.

Not intending to spam but I wanted to make a separate post to branch off of my previous one. I've actually talked to some people and I've done the math. Since November is the third month in the tiering usage stats, it carries 5/6 of the weight of the stats. ORAS came out on the 20th which that means that ORAS represents ~1/3 of the month.

5/6 * 1/3 = 5/18

Couple that with the fact that the server was down for a couple of days of November, and that people are probably going to play more battles during the ORAS part of the month vs. the non-ORAS part of the month, we're probably looking at an estimate of ORAS representing ~9/18 so at least half of the tiering usage stats. Altogether, we could really have no idea what's dropping.

To clarify Machi's post, this isn't a special thing just to adjust to the ORAS ladder, every cycle weighs month 1 for almost nothing, month 2 for a little more and places the majority of the weight on month 3, because the assumption is that 'mons used in month 1 don't mean much because all the tiers are just experimenting with the new shifts, while months 2 and 3 are a more true representation of what each metagame "should" look like.

ideas for a trick room team?
There's a lot of fun setters and abusers of Trick Room usable in UU. My favorite setter is Slowking; other options are Cofagrigus, Bronzong, Reuniclus, Porygon2, Cresselia, Aromatisse, Diancie, Jirachi, Trevenant, and Chandelure.

As for offensive Pokemon that can take advantage of the "twisted dimensions", my favorite is Escavalier. Mega Camerupt is another powerful option, although I don't quite like it as much as others since it kind of fails against defensive teams. There are so many good abusers available like Rhyperior, Mega Abomasnow, Snorlax, Swampert, Aggron, Machamp, and plenty more in addition to the ones I listed above who can set Trick Room for themselves.

If you want an example, here's the Trick Room team I built in XY with a few minor variations. I managed to peak really high on the ladder with it. I thought it turned out to be a pretty decent team and I had a lot of success with it, if you want to read more about it I made a couple posts in the Dark Horse thread of this subforum. http://pastebin.com/pXPTB0pw

Good luck with your team, it's a really really fun playstyle :]

Has anyone tried a defiant empoleon with stealth rocks? It would mainly be for defog bait, get a plus two attack, destroy the defoger, set up rocks agian and take out as much as you can, use roost and left overs to recover health.
Set would look like this:
Ability: defiant
Ev spred: Max health and attack
Moves: stealth rocks, roost, aqua jet, ???
Item: leftovers

Other than the obvious benefit of stealth rock, Empoleon is completely outclassed by Tornadus as a defog punisher. Empoleon can't do as much with that +2 attack as Tornadus.

Also Empoleon doesn't get Roost.

:( alrighty then, thank you for your imput! I thought for sure empoleon got roost, being a bird,

I wouldn't be too discouraged about Empoleon right now though, since it's currently in a really good place in the meta. Specially defensive with Scald/Defog/Stealth Rock and a flexible fourth moveslot (Roar is good for phasing things not named Diancie, Toxic breaks down walls, and Flash Cannon is useful for nailing M-Diancie if your team is particularly weak to it) is the standard, and it has only gotten better recently.

And penguins are weird like that, always being the exception and shit.

What is the best moveset and EV spread for Bronzong in the current meta? I have a hard time picking 4 out of HP Ice, Iron Head / Gyro Ball, EQ, Rocks, and Toxic.
Also, I'm not sure whether to go physically defensive or specially defensive, as I know both have their merits.
