ORAS UU Please rate my UU team

Hello everyone! I recently started to get into competitive Pokemon and quickly found the UU tier to be the most appealing to me. I tried to build a team and I really enjoy using it. However once I went up in ranking I started to struggle a bit, so I thought I would have some people that are much better and more experienced than I am take a look at my team.

So let´s start of with the Mega for my team:

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 32 SpA / 224 Spe
Naive Nature
- Sucker Punch
- Knock Off
- Superpower
- Fire Blast

Absol, being my all time favourite had to be on this team. It´s role as an all out attacker really appeals to me. Originally I would lead with it most games, but I seem to be doing that less and less, as most people expect it and open with some sort of counter. Sucker Punch and Knock Off rock as stabs, Fire Blast is for stuff like Forretress and Chesnaught that tend to come in on Absol a lot.

Next up we have Weezing

Weezing @ Black Sludge
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Sludge Bomb
- Flamethrower
- Pain Split
- Will-O-Wisp

I feel like Weeezing complements Absol extremely well. It covers all of it´s weaknesses while having its only wealness coverd by Absol. Sludge Bomb is amazing as stab and Flamethrower is useful to catch those pesky steel types that like to come in on it. Regarding Pain Split I am a bit uncertain. It seems really useful on paper, but in reality I only got to use it once or twice.

I also felt like I needed some sort of hazard setter, and my choice was Empoleon

Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Scald
- Ice Beam
- Stealth Rock
- Roar

Already having Magic Bounce on my Absol I felt no real need to run Defog on this Empoleon and went with the Ice Beam instead, which has come in handy numerous amounts of times already. I chose a specially defensive set, as I already have a lot of physical bulk with Weezing.

Next up I wanted something to hit stuff with, as both of the last Pokemon are kind of defensive.

Mienshao @ Life Orb
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick
- Knock Off

Although being sceptical at first, I soon started to enjoy the Fake Out, U-Turn and Regenerator shenenigans you can pull with this guy. I often find myself wishing for a safe switch in with Mienshao to get even more damage off, but sadly it can´t really take much damage.

Having two defensive Pokemon in my team that somewhat lack recovery moves, I decided to go with a Wish passer next.

Florges @ Leftovers
Ability: Flower Veil
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
- Calm Mind
- Moonblast
- Aromatherapy
- Wish

Both Aromatherapy and Wish work amazing in those long drawen out stally kind of battles that I seem to get myself into. I run Calm Mind on this in order to have some sort of Pokemon that can set up, I feel like this is very important in some situations.

As mentioned before, I found myself in long drawen out games, so despite having Magic Bounce on Absol hazards were starting to be a pain, as sadly one can not always switch in Absol due to it´s poor bulk. I felt the need for a Spinner.

Donphan @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Stone Edge
- Rapid Spin

Not much to say about Donphan, other than that it puts in work. It takes hits, dishes out pain and puts in only the finest of work. I found that having a Spinner in addition to Magic Guard is very useful and can really gain you an advantage in regards of hazards.

However, as I said in the beginnig I am rather new to this whole thing and I probably made a ton of mistakes regarding this team and the thought process behind it. For example I found that Entei, Aerodactyl and to an extent Nidoking/queen and Rotom H were giving me a lot of trouble.

I would appreciate any input regarding the team.

You all have my thanks in advance.

Hey man cool team I just have a few optimizations to make.

First of all, I'm going to be rating this under the assumption that your goal is to sweep with Absol, so bear with me.

I like your choice of Florges in terms of type synergy but Wish Pass is a waste of time on the kinds of teams Absol likes to fit into, which is heavy beatdown offense. So instead of the passive Florges I suggest Belly Drum Slurpuff. BD Slurpuff is great with Absol because Absol's most common revenge killers are set up fodder for this thing, and it helps you weaken physical walls like Hippo and Aggron for your Mienshao and Absol. I'd also put Swords Dance over Fire Blast on Absol to further enforce the concept of heavy physical offense and use Reckless Scarf Mienshao over your current Mienshao for a stronger late game win condition.

I would also like to suggest Physically Defensive Swampert > Empoleon. Empoleon's typing, while great for other teams, doesn't benefit you a whole lot due to the threat of Fighting types and the weakness to EQ making you more vulnerable to Mega Aggron as well as taking a load of damage from Entei, currently two significant threats to your team. The rare EQ Aerodactyl can also cause trouble if you go with Empoleon over Swampert. Swampert is overall a more reliable SR user and Roar user for the team with a more useful secondary STAB to keep up the offensive pressure that Empoleon can't provide as much.

You lose Defog but I think I have a solution to that too. I understand your reasoning for wanting Weezing on the team but as it stands Weezing really sucks up momentum for your team and there is a better option out there for you, Crobat.
Crobat can form a nasty U-Turn core with Mienshao to give the common balanced teams hell and you can Defog with it while having the same type synergy with Absol that Weezing had and providing more physical offensive pressure with Brave Bird to deal with Grass types that can really trouble Swampert.

And finally, Crocune just 6-0es you right now, and you look a bit lacking on the Special Attack side, and your Donphan set is both unviable and doesnt contribute much to a team with a Defogger already. So instead of using Donphan why don't you try Life Orb Contrary Serperior? It gives you a strong special attacking answer to Suicune with a great speed tier and another way to wear down Absol's defensive checks, and because most of your team is physical, Serperior's defensive checks face a ton of pressure right from team preview, making Serperior a natural fit to this team.

tl:dr
SD > Fire Blast on Absol
BD Slurpuff > Florges
Scarf Reckless Shao > your Shao
Swampert > Empoleon
Serperior > Donphan
Crobat > Weezing

It may seem like I changed your team a lot but this is really a better way to go if you want to support Mega Absol. Hope I helped!

Thanks so much for the input, I´ll definitly consider all of those changes.

The only thing I don´t really see working is the SD on Absol, I tried that before and I feel like I never have the opportunity to set up with it, due to it´s really weak bulk.

Regarding CroCune, I really didn´t have much trouble with that, as Empoleon and Florges could rather easily stall it out of Scald pp, but I guess it was kind of annoying to pp stall it every time.

--EDIT--

Alright, after having had some time to test out the suggested changes, I must admit that some of them are indeed quite simply better than what I originally had.

Swampert is really much much better in this team that Empoleon. I´ll definitly keep that. The same goes for Crobat, It is very strong and covers Absols Fighting weakness even better than Weezing (even though I still think that Weezing is a very underestimated ´mon)

To be honest, there were also some things that I didn´t like. Slurpuff was kind of useless. In all the games I played today he managed to be useful only once and otherwise did nothing to contribute to victory.

The same goes for the Serperior. It never really did anything but kill a Donphan in one game. Tbh I think there are better options to fill this slot.

Hey, nice to see Mega Absol getting some use again.

Although you got quite the extensive rate a while back, it might be interesting to add my 2 cents in the light of the new meta.

First of all, I don't quite agree with the recklessly stated opinion that Absol only fits on purely offensive teams, and that you therefore should automatically run a BD Slurpuff over Florges. Florges is completely fine to be run over Slurfpuff, given the bulkier aspect of your team. Very solid players like Bad Ass have had insane success with bulky teams + SD Mega Absol in mid-XY, and the current state of ORAS actually quite resembles that specific point in the UU meta.

In terms of pure sets though, since you are using CM Florges, you might want to run Synthesis > Wish. This allows you immediate recovery on a key glue pokemon on your team as opposed to Wishing up. If you do decide to keep Wish, it's more optimal to run Protect > CM.

Given the fact that Heracross is back though, you might also want to try Aromatisse > Florges. Florges is potentially 2HKOd by CB Hera, and Aromatisse is not. However, if you do decide to keep CM, Florges is a superior option.

Aromatisse @ Leftovers
Ability: Aroma Veil
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 Spe
Bold Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Aromatherapy
- Moonblast

In light of the return of Hera, Tank Weezing is actually sort of viable. However, I do personally feel like Crobat is just a little bit too good to give up right now. It adds a good deal of speed to your team. Furthermore, the use of Defog on Crobat actually let's you run Swampert > Donphan. AV Donphan is simply put, rather underwhelming (of course this is your personal preference). However, it will help you a lot with firespam. Banded Emboar/Darmanitan/Infernape/Entei put in way too much work on your team, moreover, 2 of them resist Sucker Punch from Absol, and Entei has Espeed to bypass it. Weezing relies on burns to cripple phsyical attackers, but aforementioned threats obviously can't be burnt. Donphan is outsped and because it's not running passive recovery it can easily be worn down and 2HKO'd. A physically defensive Fire Resist would help you a lot :]. Another nifty thing about this is that because you are running Swampert + Empoleon + Crobat, your opponent can be left guessing which pokemon runs Rocks, and which pokemon runs Defog. It gives you some leeway in terms of surprises (i.e. you could run a banded Crobat or Swampert) or even an offensive LO Empoleon. Of course, you can keep very traditional sets with minimal changes and run Ice Beam on Swampert to deal a good amount of damage to common switchins and it gives you a reserve check to new addition Salamence.

Hope any of this was helpful, and I'd like to see how the team adopts to the new changes in the meta :].
