General Introduce yourself!

Welcome to Smogon Panda! Glad to see more new users joining this site. To start, if you need help understanding the basics of Pokemon, make sure to PM me as I can help you get started and probably get to the next step! Pokemon is obviously one of my favorite RPG's too! I really love nearly everything about it and love doing stuff with it, even if it gets tiring something.

Do you visit PS? If so which rooms do you visit? (Pokemon Showdown)

Yep. I'm also net to showdown and have even posted a RMT just the other day after joining smogon. I usually like chatting in the wifi and lobby. lots of fun

What's up guys?

I'm mai, male 21, American. I've been playing competitively on and off for a few years now, but I mostly used gimmicks like gravity teams or mono-choice band teams, things like that. I've only really been playing seriously for about a year or so, and I'm not that great. But eh, gotta start somewhere.

Looking forward to getting to know some people here, and hopefully battles along the way. If you want to know anything else just ask. Peace out :]

Hello Mai Pearl!
My first and only gimmick team is an all Bidoof BH team, which surprisingly works pretty well! :/ You can PM a mentor or sign up for our Tutoring Program if you would like some competitive battling help. Have fun, and I'll see you around!

Sup Andre. Which games did you miss exactly? I also did miss some, curious if we took the same route. Have fun out here on the forums. If you eventually start battling, maybe we could battle sometime.
Black and White and Black and White 2. I am hoping to research before i go on the cap project

Hey KA-POW!!
Great you decided to join! PM a mentor for some finetuning of your competitive skills, but check this guide first. The last game before Generation 6 that I played fully was Emerald. :/ I did play the games in between but not to the same extent. Check out the "Wi-Fi" subforum to find the appropriate place to trade friend codes. Have a good time!
Thanks, I'll be sure to take a look, I also need some serious help on how to make a competitive team including how to breed them.

hey there.
I'm Sioux, fourteen years, Dutch. Have been playing pokemon since I was four.
Got into competitive a while ago when me and my brothers got the new games, and I've been looking up pokemon here ever since I got beaten by one of my brothers.

I think that I'll be able to meet some people here that could help me, might as well put up my team at RMT.

Hey CrescentWolf26!
I've been playing since I was around the age of eleven. I only got into competitive once X and Y were released. If you'd like some help with competitive battling, PM a mentor of the tier you want or sign up for our Tutoring Program. Have fun!

Hi everyone, I'm ner1n (or Paul, whatever). I'm from Argentina and I've been a pokefreak since I have use of memory. Trying to get into competitive, although I know nothing of breeding or EVs and IVs, but I'll learn eventually.

Great to be here!

Welcome to Smogon, man. There's definitely a lot to learn. Back when I didn't know anything I found it really fun to learn everything about the competitive side. Basically everything is to be found on these forums. Have fun out here!

Hi everyone, you can just call me Nash. I just started playing XY last december (the last pokemon I completed was Yellow version and that was like more than 10 years ago LOL). When I found out that you can compete online on newer versions, it got me interested. I read a lot and finally understood the EVs and IVs and actually have tons of battle ready monsters on my boxes.

I found out about this website and realized that this might be the best place to learn about battling so here I am. Also recently found out about Battling 101 and would really like to get a tutor but I still have yet to buy a new pc so I guess that would have to wait.

I really hope I could learn more about battling here.

Hello leinkyle!
I started playing Y last May, with the last game I completed being Black 2 about half a year before. I don't really care much for IVs/EVs in-game; I mostly just go with the flow, I guess. There are two big ways you can learn: the first being our Mentorship Program and the second being our Tutoring Program. Our mentors give 1 on 1 help, whereas our tutors give 1 on multiple "lessons". Have a great time and good luck!

How does mentorship works btw? I remember reading that one once but still wasn't sure how it works. Is it also as formal as tutor programs?

It is less formal than the tutor program and pretty much you can use our help form to try and connect you with a mentor .Your can also try directly messaging a mentor for the thing you want to learn about.

hello! I'm shamble sides. I'm 21 years old and sometimes I make little javascript games. Take a look at a fun little demo I've made! http://reactor.zone/184/

I'm here at smogon because I want to learn about competitive pokemon. I haven't really played much since FR/LG so it will definitely be a learning experience. It's also been a good while since I've frequented any solid Internet communities so it'll take some adjusting to get back into that too. anyway, hope to chat with y'all soon!

Hey Everyone!
I am Nemesis... I am 19, from India, a college student and a wannabe game programmer.

I used to love, watch and play competitive Pokemon a hell lot, back during the Gen IV. Then when Gen V came, I went a bit low in real life. I was an introvert, and people saw me as a socially awkward guy and distanced from myself. At that time, playing Pokemon and spending time on Showdown lobby gave me my lost confidence back. It helped me cope up with my depression, and it was during those times, I played competitive Pokemon like a total addict. Then I enrolled in a college, made some friends, my life was on track again, and due to limited internet access in my dorms, my connection with competitive Pokemon almost vanished. Then Gen VI came, and we got approval for internet access to gaming sites, so I started playing Pokemon again a little bit, here and there, but not much.

Then last year, my life took that same road, my college friends didn't like my introvert nature, and they began talking to me only during the exams (I'm a college topper). This frustrated me more, and this time, instead of trying to patch up, I isolated myself from them. That was when I made an account on Smogon (Jan 2014), but my confidence had already stooped too low. It was later that my Psychology professor helped me, and made me love myself, and I started hanging on Showdown lobbies again, and started smiling and laughing again. I played only random battles on Showdown, because I was completely lost with Gen VI meta.
I wanted to be back in meta, but before I could start, ORAS was next on list, and before I knew meta again shifted. I started reading the Smog issues and reading them made me feel so excited, that I wanted to be back in meta, just as I was in Gen V (honestly, reading Smog issues is like reading some genuine course book, it is kind of a proof how strong and lively this community is).

And so I came here, to finally get back in to the meta, and to enjoy it, and its wonderful community, who so far have helped me a lot in tackling my depressions. I hope to make some friends here, because even introverts need to socialize sometimes. And yea, much of this story was not needed here, but I guess, I need to at least say a thanks to all those who had been on Showdown with me, or at least all those players with which I had awesome random battles. That's it... And thanks for taking time to read this boring story of mine :) :D

Hi Dark Nemesis!
Nice to meet you! I personally never got involved in competitive Pokemon until Pokemon X and Y were released. Nothing's bad about being an introvert by the way. :o Besides that, anyone who takes advantage of you for your intelligence is a bad influence; good that you broke ties with them. Also, it's great Showdown could help with your life! We're a pretty fun crowd most of the time, so if you find you find yourself in a slump (God forbid), and don't like yourself, we'll do that for you! n_n I remember when I first joined Showdown; I knew absolutely nothing about Pokemon. I didn't know what EVs or IVs were, I didn't know type matches, heck, I didn't even know the names of most Pokemon. But eventually, I figured it all out, and now Smogon and Showdown have become a big part of my entertainment life too big, I might add! You can get involved as a writer or artist for the Smog, if you'd like. Spydreigon can help you get involved as a writer, while Bummer can help you get involved with art. Your story was nice to read; thanks for that. Anyway, have a good time around the site!

Hey Thanks a lot for the warm welcome! I appreciate that.
I write anime reviews in my free time, when I am not coding, and I like to write poems as well, although I am not sure whether or not I can be a good addition to the writing team here, but still I would like to give it a try. Check My blog, edarknemesis.wordpress.com, in case you want to see my writing skills.
And, yes, this community is perhaps the most fun loving and the least toxic I have seen so far (considering all the gaming communities out there). And I am sure, hanging around here will only make my life much happier. I just hope, I make a lot of good friends here. And contrary to my real life, I am kind of a Chatot on the Internet, and I like to talk about games, anime, music, programming and what not, so having friends here is seriously going to be a mega-thing for me (all puns duly intended).

Hello, Koopris! here!
Hi Koopris!
Welcome to Smogon! If you have any questions or need any help, be sure to check out the "Have a Question? Ask it Here!" thread. If you need any help with anything pertaining to competitive battling, try PMing a mentor. Have fun!

Heya JerryVC!
Nice to meet you! Lol, I know what you're saying about being addicted to Pokemon. I know it all too well. Have fun getting settled in, and feel free to ask any questions you may have!

Also, if you could give us your feedback about the site whenever you can, that'd be great. Thank you!
Will do! Thanks.

Hey, this is Zacharytrumpeter

I'm 18, a sophomore in college, and I'm going for pre-med with minors in music and chemistry. Started playing Pokemon when I found Blue in my closet, and I've pretty much played since then. Ive always loved the competitive aspect of Pokemon, and I found Smogon late in Gen IV, but I just made an account today. Mostly looking for where to start learning about better team building and not sure who to ask. I do know about breeding and EV's/IV's, but as far as specific roles and calculations I'm a bit behind, mostly since I only play on my physical copy. Looking forward to meeting people!

Hi Zacharytrumpeter!
Nice to meet you! I was a little late in the timeline of the games, only getting into the franchise with Emerald two or three years after its release. You can get help with teambuilding with two steps. First, you can PM a mentor to get help improving your skills. Second, make a team, or if you already have one, visit the RMT section of the forums to get other users to help you improve it. I don't really delve too deep into teambuilding; I just make sure I have good coverage and sets, and I play like that. Anyway, have a good time, and good luck!
