ORAS OU Bringing out M-Swampert's "UnderUsed" potential

M-Swampert is a pretty underestimated threat in the competitive world. It can sweep, setup, tank, stall, revenge kill, pretty much everything. Honestly, I dunno why it's in UU. This is a team built not only on sweeping stalling and tanking but also type coverage.

THE TEAM~

swampert-mega.gif
SWAMPERT-MEGA

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Refresh

The core of my team, I chose it because of
1) Great typing
2) Moves to counter
3) Versatility
4) Great Attack + Defense
It's the pokemon I send out first, and then it usually KO's AT LEAST 3 pokemon. I've got Refresh to cure those crippling burns.

gyarados.gif
GYARADOS

Gyarados @ Choice Band
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Ice Fang
- Stone Edge
- Return

This is my bulky Physical sweeper, and very important. I am considering a change of items, and replacing Return with Rest or something. Also, Choice Band hampers it's moveset a bit.

snorlax.gif
SNORLAX

Snorlax @ Leftovers
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 144 HP / 188 Def / 176 SpD
Careful Nature
- Curse
- Return
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

Pretty much my Physical tank. Am considering changing the ability to Thick Fat, but then burns cripple it. I'm thinking Thick Fat as it allows it to wall common Special hits. Also suggest an EV spread which improves it's Attack without compromising it's defensive capabilities too much.

dragonite.gif
DRAGONITE

Dragonite @ Choice Band
Ability: Multiscale
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Rush
- Aerial Ace
- Roost
- Earthquake

My Special wall + Physical Sweeper. It's Multiscale allows it to survive even Ice Beams/Punches, while Roost keeps Multiscale activated and running. I am looking to make it a Special sweeper, although I can't get a good moveset and EV spread, so please suggest one.

tyranitar.gif
TYRANITAR

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Dragon Tail

Once again, Physical Tank. Dragon Tail replaced Earthquake, as it does damage + switches out checks and counters. Also, should I invest more in Speed or Defense? Without Defense, it gets KO'd pretty quickly, while without Speed, it can't get in many hits / KO's.

And Lastly...

volcarona.gif
VOLCARONA

Volcarona @ Leftovers
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 248 HP / 136 Def / 124 Spe
Bold Nature
- Quiver Dance
- Fire Blast
- Giga Drain
- Roost
My only Special sweeper. Volcarona is the result of a search for a good Fire-type. It worked where Metagross, Typhlosion and M-Charizard Y failed. A few Quiver Dances transport its Special Attack, Special Defense and Speed to insane levels. And any damage acquired in setting up Quiver Dances is restored with Roost. It also checks M-Swampert's counters, incuding Rotom-Wash, which was otherwise a great threat to my team.

BTW, This team is pretty good in my tests but needs patching up of a few flaws.

I am 'bharadawaj raju' on Pokemon Showdown.

Thanks for all your help.

Umm interesting team but you have alot of pokes that don't make sense together. The only reason to use mega swampart, unless your using a curse rest talk set, is on a rain team. You have no rain on your team at all so you can't use swampart to its fullest potentially. The pokes you have just don't make sense together. Neither does some of the evs you have. You probably need to resdign the whole team honestly

Thank you for your suggestion, but I'm a novice, just joined competitive battling, so it would be helpful if you actually suggest EVs for my team, and a Rain-maker.

Also, the pokes do make sense together, only if you think about type coverage and sweeping, stalling etc. simultaneously.

I've edited the EVs and some movesets. It's better now. However, I can't find a good Rain-maker for M-Swampert, as my policy is to KO as fast as possible. I only use setups if I find a chance to use them, although I use recovery moves a lot.

Can you explain the EV spreads? I wanna hear how you thought when you made this team as well. Anyways my "rate" (correction) below:

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Rain Dance

Speed Evs to outspeed everything up to Adamant Charizard X at +1 (when Rain is up)
Swampert setting it's own rain is pretty optimal because he effectivly has a +1 in Atk (when using Waterfall) and +2 in Spe. In your previous team, there was no rain and therefore couldn't use Swampert to his fully potential. This set is somewhat walled by Ferro.

Next, we have your Gyara...oh boy. You know that Choicers tend to switch a lot huh? Well if it is weak to SR and isn't named Talonflame then there is probably another more optimal set. And Gyarados has multiple very good sets. I personally like the bulky DD set.

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 88 HP / 192 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Bounce

Return should never be used except if the poke is a Normal-type or it has some -ate ability (Pixilate, Aerilate, Refrigerate).

Next, Snorlax. Snorlax shouldn't be considered, and CurseLax is an oldschool threat which doesn't add anything to your team. He might be good at low ladders, but higher rated players just setup on it. Plus he is totally walled by ghosts. Replace with AV Conkeldurr, which also functions as a good switchin to status because of Guts.

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab/Mach Punch
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

The dragonite set is outright awful. Like seriously. I'll list the flaws below:
Flaw #1: Move #1 is awful. Why use Dragon rush (100 BP 75% acc) when Outrage (120 BP 100% acc) and Dragon Claw (80 BP 100% acc) exists? There is zero reason to use Dragon Rush.
Flaw #2: Move #2 is awful. Oh. My. Arceus. I can't see what type of person you are. You like to miss moves (Dragon Rush) but at the same time you like to hit them 100% even if they got Brightpowder or something. 60 Base power is awful.
Flaw #3: Move #3 is awful. Choice Band Roost. I'MA KILL YA WITH MY STRONG ROOST!!! or not lol :p
Flaw #4: Move #4...is actually quite decent. Well, then I'm moving on to the EV's instead. Jolly Dragonite without DD is like buying an iPhone for the first time. It seems good at first, but in practice it just don't have the firepower of an Andr...hm excuse me, Adamant nature I mean.

Just replace Dragonite, as he doesn't add too much. I would like to see an Excadrill here instead.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rapid Spin
- Earthquake
- Iron Head
- Rock Slide

He gives a secondary win-condition which is always good. He is also a pretty good spinner, even though I guess Starmie is more viable thesedays.

Next, T-Tar. Is it a joke to have Dragon Tail and Dragon Dance together? Because I don't see much merit in having them together. I've changed this to a Smooth rock T-Tar.

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Payback

This T-Tar is made to set up rocks and give Exca his beloved sandstorm. Fire blast does a chunk to Ferrothorn/Scizor and Ice Beam is for Landorus-T. Predict the switchin and it shall pay off. Or Pay back, Idk.

For the last pokemon I would suggest changing Volcarona to Specially defensive Amoonguss, which I've tested to great success. He walls Keldeo pretty well even if it's running Icy wind.

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain/Toxic
- Foul Play

Swampert-Mega @ Swampertite
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 56 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 196 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Rain Dance

Gyarados @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 88 HP / 192 Atk / 224 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Substitute
- Waterfall
- Bounce

Conkeldurr @ Assault Vest
Ability: Guts
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Drain Punch
- Poison Jab
- Ice Punch
- Fire Punch

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Sand Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Poison Jab

Tyranitar @ Smooth Rock
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Relaxed Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Fire Blast
- Ice Beam
- Payback

Amoonguss @ Black Sludge
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Calm Nature
- Spore
- Sludge Bomb
- Giga Drain
- Foul Play

Thank you Mr. Yakobo, yours is the first constructive criticism I got. Yes, I replaced Snorlax with AV Specially Defensive Conkeldurr. I've changed Tyranitar's moveset and EVs a bit:

Tyranitar @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 152 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Stone Edge
- Crunch
- Fire Punch

And I replaced Dragonite with Life Orb Latias:

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 80 HP / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Roost
- Psyshock
- Draco Meteor

It fits in pretty well.

And I cant replace Volcarona. I absolutely NEED a fire type, or I'll have no super-effective STABs on Grass. If it's so necessary, please suggest an alternative Fire type (NOT Charizard). It functions wonderfully for me.

Thank You

I'd replace refresh with rain dance and replace volcarona with chansey. Having volcarona on a rain team is like having a white guy in the hood, it doesn't make any sense

NEW TEAM

Id like to give very specific feedback on this but on my phone right now.

What comes to my mind first when seeing his is that Gyarados takes 25% from Stealth Rocks and Volcarona takes 50%. But you have Latias... WITHOUT DEFOG!!?? Get rid of Calm Mind which is more optimally used on a Bold Latias, and get Defog in there.
Also I'm a bit unsure about the sand + rain combo you've got going on.. To be fair Swampert doesn't take any damage from sand, but it seems that you should focus your team around either sand corrosion or rain.
To reply to yor previous question about good rain setters, Politoed (Drizzle).
