General Introduce yourself!

I've sort of wandered through these forums the past few weeks. At first I was here because of the Battle Maison guide, since I'm interested in the trophies and the berries. But I also enjoy watching Pokemon battles, specifically VGC, which I do mostly on YouTube. I think that if I did get further into Pokemon enough to want to battle competitively, I would want to focus on VGC.

I like Dragonair, and I'm still waiting for Dragonite to get a Mega. (Will it evolve using Dragonite, though, or what?) I also like Milotic, another Pokemon I think would be great as a Mega.

I've only just started getting into breeding, mostly due to the general improvements in quality of life for breeders this generation. I'm actually trying to get my hands on a HA Drilbur/Excadrill, and I'm too lazy/impatient to try to find one in Mirage Caves. I'm also kind of bad at sneaking, though I enjoy the mechanic. I'm not very familiar with the structure of the forums, plus I'm not sure how trading works here, especially since I'm just looking for something with the HA, and I'm perfectly fine with breeding on the IVs and stuff.

If there's one thing I'm not looking forward to, though, it's how important various legendaries are in the competitive scene. I really despise soft-resetting for a legendary with good IVs.

I do wonder, though, what do people do with all the Pokemon you hatch from breeding, but that aren't perfect? I have piles and piles of Eevees from trying to get a HA female of the right nature (which will make future Eevee breeding much easier), and just paging through my boxes is becoming a slight chore. I still feel bad releasing things, but that seems the best way.

Welcome to Smogon! I was first here to make a discipline appeal because at the time I didn't know how bans worked. :/ I then forgot this account for a while, but rediscovered it just a few months ago. I like OU, BH, Randbats, and a lot of other tiers.

I would advise you to check out the VGC room or subforum in Showdown or here at Smogon to get involved with their community (have you not already)! My favorite Pokemon is Bisharp. Also, if Dragonite did get a Mega, what would the stone be called? Dragonite? Or Dragonitite? Just saying, if Dragonite did get a Mega (which it totally deserves), GameFreak is gonna have to put a bit of thought into the stone name. :S

I'm also not the best at sneaking, but the concept is pretty interesting in my opinion. I myself have never soft-resetted for any legendary, as I don't use legendaries in my battling. I also don't really care much for obtaining "competitive-ready Pokemon" in-game, as in the actual game, I just go with the flow I guess.

As for imperfectly bred Pokemon, a lot of breeders just send them off into Wonder Trades. Releasing is another often-used option, and sometimes it's better in my opinion, because there isn't much worse than getting random imperfect Pokemon through Wonder Trades (unless they have some breeding-only moves) in return for something that took time to catch, train, etc. Wonder Trading is fun at times, but the number of trolls there disgusts me.

I am Yugi and im glad to be a part of the smogon community.I really like this community and i will try and stick here and be a formidable member.


Currently im trying an UU/OU Tier Shift,Using some UU pokemon with OU and to see how they are working out.Right now i am trying a Chandelure Team.I find pokemon fun and i want to get on a little of the competitive side of it and i hope ill have good teachers for me to introduce the competitive side of Pokemon.


I also am pumped for ORAS allthough i dont have one :(, i dont have XY either :(.I play on showdown alot and i also play on emulators.


Anyways Im glad to be here and one question.

Why cant i share my opinions in the UU thread.Please tell me.And by that i mean UU Viability Ranking.

Nice to meet you! Yeah, I love this place, too. It's a great place to learn and compete, while also meeting great people! Using lower tier Pokemon in higher tiers is a fun part of playing competitively. Some Pokemon who you may not think to be that great actually perform pretty well in upper tiers! Check out our Battling 101 program to learn from some of the best, with the company of a few other tutees. I have AS, but I haven't really gotten around to completing it, due to other work taking up time. The first game I myself owned was Y, and I've put well over 200 hours into that one. Have a good time out here!

My favorite region is Hoenn, too, as it was Emerald that got me into the world of Pokemon. I haven't played any Megaman games :c but I do play a bunch of games beside those of the Pokemon franchise. My friend introduced me to Showdown after I had completed Emerald wanting to get more involved with Pokemon, and it was from PS! that I found Smogon, and now here I am! I hope you have a great experience on the site; consult the Help form or the Questions threads if you need any help!
 
Hi guys im new on the smogon forums, but i've been playing pokemans competitively for a while now. I know quite a bit about competitive, but im just getting back into the game once again after my settling into uni (from australia :)). And I don't have any friends that play pokemon competitively (T^T) so i hope i can get some friends. :)

Hello everyone. I am Jonathan. I have been playing Pokemon since the days of Pokemon Blue. I play Pokemon for the strategy that Pokemon offers. I do
not know much about competitive battling, however I did remove Blaziken from my team on Omega Ruby and replaced him with Ho-Oh. I like trying out different
Pokemon I never used before (like Beautifly). Although, Celebi is my all time favorite, I have many others I like for different reasons. I am very glad to be here, I saw a YouTube channel mention your site and here I am.

Welcome to the forums, and it's good to meet another veteran! I myself started late after the start of Generation 3, with Emerald, and only now starting to return to the older generations. Are there any tiers you would like to get involved in here? If you would like an idea of where to start joining in discussions, check out the Competitive Discussion forum to select your tier(s). I like trying out new Pokemon, so I find myself enjoying Random Battles a lot. My favorite Pokemon is Bisharp, but I have a lot of close runner-ups, such as Lucario and Scizor. Hey, by any chance, would you like to start getting involved with the social media aspect of the forums? That would be a great way to contribute and help the site. Anyway, have fun exploring the forums and getting involved!
 
Thanks. I will check the forums more tomorrow after I get some sleep. Trying to hatch a Shiny Wurmple with Beautifly and my Foreign Ditto has worn me out!
I love Omega Ruby and Y a lot because Game Freak gave all Pokemon animated movements. It has been such a thrill, I even gone back to the Ruby and Emerald Versions of the GBA games. Thanks again.

I am horrible at battling a person who has been lurking around here on a different account for a while but i forgot the password to it I've been playing Pokemon since BW came out so I'm relatively newish to the franchise And uhh some of my favorite Pokemon are Whimsicott and Cinccino and Luxray. :3 I think the tiers I'm best at Even though I still suck are NU and RU. So yeah, HiBye

Hey guys, getting back into pokemon (been out since Emerald) with my brother. We were big fans back in the day (I was casual, he was competitive). We're looking to make a strong 2's team for online battles. I'm currently residing in Tokyo, which is awesome, being the pokemon mecca and all that, but I'm from Texas. Smogon has been super helpful in building the team, so I decided to register on the forums and do a bit of trading of all these Arceus codes I have access to. ;) Take care!

I've been playing since the time of, what, Black and White? However, I started with Emerald, then jumped over to Generation 6, then went back and played the previous games. The funny thing is that you could say Super Smash Bros Brawl had a part in my discovery of the Pokemon franchise. My main back then was Lucario, but I had no idea he was a Pokemon at that time. My top three favorite Pokemon are Bisharp, Lucario, and Scizor (yes, Steel is my favorite type <3 ). My favorite tiers are OU, BH, and Random Battles, but I dabble in a lot of others, like UU, Monotype, the Seasonals, etc. Welcome to Smogon; I hope you have a good time here!

Nice to meet you! I also came here because of Showdown, but now I find I spend more time here at Smogon than I do in Showdown. I knew nothing about competitive Pokemon or tiers or even type matchups when I first joined Showdown; in fact, I even tried putting a mixed sweeper Rayquaza on my OU team, and even tried giving it Explosion! Oof. I've come a long way since then thanks to my friends irl, in Showdown, and here at Smogon. Have a great time here on the forums!

Emerald! <3 Even though it's a pretty old game, it's still my favorite of all time. Too bad they didn't make a remake this generation. :c I've gotten some knowledge of competitive Pokemon, but I consider myself a semi-casual player, I guess. Tokyo seems like a great place to visit from the things I've heard, but I've never been there. :/ Maybe sometime later. Hey, I'm from Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg Texas, too, and I love the place! I don't really put too much thought into making teams--I just find a Pokemon I want to start with, and fill in the rest based on typings--but I still manage to get a somewhat good rating. Anyways, I hope you find the forums a great place to be!

How do you do? I've been playing casually for a few years now, but "competitively" for about a year. Some of the things I love are puppies/dogs (and almost all other animals), music, videogames, and a few sports, like soccer. At first, I registered this account just to make a discipline appeal (at the time I didn't understand the whole "ban by IP" thing), but rediscovered it a few months back, took a chance and explored a few different subforums, and now here I am! I hope you find your place here at Smogon, and have fun doing so!

In-game, I mostly breed for natures, because I find breeding moves quite annoying. I love to help people and will trade anything you need or want to test. Recently, I've begun creating sets of my own, such as, gravquake Dusclops. If you want to test some of my sets, just ask. :toast:

Their analysis's are highly in-depth and very helpful. I have also RNG'd (something not too many people know how to do) and IV bred competitively. Hope to meet some new faces here as well. :)

I do battle, but I need better team building skills. I am totally unfamiliar with the forums because I use Smogon for the dex. Thanks.
 
Hey, my name is Mike D! I am new to this site and thought I would check it out. I love pokemon and have been playing since I was a kid but never got into the competitve side of it. Now i really would like to and hopefully get good at it. I still got a lot to learn, however, but I am sure I can find lots of help here.
