ORAS UU Band + Specs = U-turn + Volt Switch

Time to a new RMT! This time in the UU tier. I created this team a while ago and I think it's actually really solid, it's working for me. With this team I won like... 10 out of 12 battles. And of course... the advice is important. And please don't say "You're weak to X ", but say "You're weak to X, so you should do Z to help against X".

I tried to create a different team, but not different like "cute charm clefable", but different with things that can work against the main UU threats and being different at the same time, the advantage is that your opponent won't know your moveset, won't know how to deal with it, then all you need to do is force him to switch constantly, pressuring him to the point where he can't sack anymore. Then all you have to do is clean up, this was the general idea in my mind when I created this team.

Starting with a volt-turn/band-specs core.

AV Toxicroak is there to deal with threats to my core, like scarf hydreigon.

The Squad

Azelf @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
- Fire Punch
- Trick

What happened to offensive azelf? All this suicide lead stuff... I just don't like it. Let's bring it back, physical azelf. Anyways, it's the first member of my volt-turn core, hits hard with zen headbutt and can always do a bit of damage in mega aggron and foretress with fire punch, trick is for curse lax, because it's a threat. Banded Zen headbutt can 2HKO almost everything in the tier, this thing is a powerhouse.

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Jolteon is excellent, it's fast and is a strong hitter with specs. HP Ice is of course for things that can stop my volt switch from happening. It's a great partner for azelf since it can hit hard things azelf can't (aka dark and steel types). And azelf is covering jolteon's ground weakness.

Bag_Assault_Vest_Sprite.png

Toxicroak @ Assault Vest
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot

Man, I love toxicroak, I love assault vest. HECK, LET'S DO BOTH. Assault vest toxicroak can switch in to hydreigon, mega blastoise, empoleon, crocune, mega sceptile without earthquake, and mega sharpedo without earthquake, resuming: It walls things that my core can't deal with. It's also my only way to deal with crocune, so when I see a suicune, I know that I have to keep this thing healthy.

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Mega pidgeot and mega abomasnow were threats, but spdef rotom-h is the perfect counter to both, it laughs at mega abomasnow and it also has hurricanes for breakfast. It's basically a rotom-w with overheat, not too much to say about it, and pain split is really useful, I used to run HP Ice, but then I switched Thunder punch in toxicroak for ice punch and added pain split.

blastoise-mega.gif
Bag_Blastoisinite_Sprite.png

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Water Pulse
- Rapid Spin
- Dark Pulse
- Aura Sphere

This thing is waaay to good for UU, it's so freaking bulky that it can eat up hits while hitting extremely hard with mega launcher water pulse, and yes, I prefered water pulse over scald for power over burn, rapid spin helps rotom-h when I need it healthy. Aura sphere is for things like hydreigon and mega abomasnow.

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock

I'm annoyed by mega aerodactyl, so I added this for stealth rock support, and rock slide to hit mega aero, slack off and EQ are kinda necessary in hippowdown, so that's it, it also deal with darmanitan and mienshao, since it's able to take two and slack off stall, while your opponent misses or dies to recoil.

Azelf @ Choice Band
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- U-turn
- Zen Headbutt
- Fire Punch
- Trick

Blastoise @ Blastoisinite
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD
Modest Nature
- Water Pulse
- Rapid Spin
- Dark Pulse
- Aura Sphere

Hippowdon @ Leftovers
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Slack Off
- Rock Slide
- Stealth Rock

Rotom-Heat @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Overheat
- Volt Switch
- Will-O-Wisp
- Pain Split

Toxicroak @ Assault Vest
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Ice Punch
- Drain Punch
- Sucker Punch
- Gunk Shot

Jolteon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Sup man pretty cool looking team you got here. I only have a few suggestions that I think might help. First off with the toxicroak. In your description I see that you need to be an answer to things like crocune, empoleon, mega stoise, and other bulky waters in general. Toxicroak can still do all of that without the assault vest because of dry skin as those mons cannot really touch it anyways.. And what I see with crocune is that since you do not have anyway of boosting your attack it can simply stall you out with pressure once it figures out that you are an AV set which will result to you struggling to death and still losing to crocune. So I would switch croak's item to Life orb instead of assault vest. As for hydreigon...it can widdle down croak even wih AV and rotom can come in and pain split as well since you are secially defensive. And another small thing with the blastoise speed evs, I would run at least 100 speed evs on blastoise as you can outspeed base uninvested base 90 speed mons. Other than that the team looks pretty solid, Hope I helped n_n.

Toxicroak @ Life Orb
Ability: Dry Skin
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature(you can run adamant if you want for power but that is completely up to you)
- Gunk Shot
- Drain Punch
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch

If rocks are up hydreigon will become a pain for my team if I decide to remove the assault vest, anyways, I changed the EVs in blastoise. But I'll try the life orb set and see what I get, thanks for the rate.

cool concept, cb azelf is hella cool! I think that the rest of the team could be improved though... There's a few things that you should be able to cover with a couple of quick, easy fixes.

Here are the main flaws I noticed:
  • No Dragon resist: Hydreigon in particular makes your life hell. It switches in for free on a lot of things on your team... then promptly kills something if it's Life Orb... not good. Physical Salamence is less of an issue because Hippo can handle it but mixed is a headache. Toxicroak can hardly switch into Draco Meteors, especially since it has no recovery and gets 2HKOed by the faster Dragons.
  • Hippowdon breaks your momentum: While it offers a check to many threats to your team, once it switches in you'll let an offensive team gain momentum easily because Hippo lacks offensive presence. Maybe something else could fit better?
  • Anything faster than Jolteon (ie MAero or Scarfers / DDers) can be a pain because of the offensive nature of the team and the fact you only have 1 relatively weak priority.
My first suggested fix would be using Whimsicott over Toxicroak. Whimsicott offers you a (more or less) solid Dragon check that fits the offensive character of your team really well! In addition to that, it gets a very fast U-turn which helps your other turners gain momentum, even though it is very weak. While not very powerful, Whimsicott checks a lot of things that your team is vulnerable to and actual top metagame threats thanks to its typing and Encore. You can even use it as a safety catch-all check to faster stuff, as I mentioned earlier.

The Hippowdon thing might be more of a preference thing but I really believe Krookodile would fit your team better. It might not be able to stick around as long as Hippo, but the Dark typing and Speed really adds to its offensive presence and fits your offensive synergy better, I think. It also gives you a Ghost resist which you currently lack, helping you against stuff like Specs Chandelure.

Whimsicott @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain / Stun Spore
- U-turn
- Encore

Krookodile @ Black Glasses
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Knock Off
- Pursuit
- Stealth Rock

:]

Like Jirachee said I think whimsicott is better than toxicroak but I'll say use encore sub seed set to handle crocune better and curse lax too. Although I love blastoise for being my starter I think mega drill is the superior option to on a volt turn team but the choice is yours since mega toise works on any team.
