Hey everyone! This is the first UU team I've made, so I'm a very new to the tier. I know of the general threats from watching Tubers play, and I wanted to start UU as well. Please lemme know of any critiques, because I know this team is fairly flawed(gets destroyed by things like Honchkrow and Mega Blastoise). Thanks if you do comment, and I guess enjoy? Lol
This team was first built to be a Critdra team, but I found it got very limited use. So, I instead replaced it with the monster that is Feraligatr. My reasoning for it being on the team? I saw someone use it, wanted to try it out myself, lol.
Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Ice Punch
Gatr, I feel, is a huge threat in UU. If not prepared for, it can decimate a team. I saw that I really lacked setup sweepers, and wanted to use this thing for awhile. Gatr gets nice coverage from the moves here. It can hit Salamence with Ice Punch, smack things like Florges with Waterfall, and is neutral with a lot of mons when it uses Crunch. I felt DD was better over SD, because it gives me the speed to outspeed a lot of the tier's non scarfers. But the problem I feel with Gatr is it cannot outspeed many of this team's threats unless it is at +2. Thus, I have been considering to replace it. But overall, this thing hits like a truck, and has helped me sweep many times.
Next, I wanted a physically defensive wall. One of my favorite ones to use in OU is Chesnaught, so I decided to bring it here.
Chesnaught @ Leftovers
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Spiky Shield
- Leech Seed
- Substitute
- Drain Punch
I think this is the one mon I don't see myself replacing. It is seriously the biggest troll. Just yesterday, I was facing The Great Bulbasaurus, and this thing smacked him, just due to its sheer bulk. It recovers an obscene amount of HP from Leech Seed/Leftovers, and not to mention it gets more from Drain Punch. Sub is here so I can stall a lot more. Kind of like Sub/Toxic Gliscor. Also, my team gets smacked by a lot of this tiers physical attackers, but this thing really cleans them out. Such threats include ScarfMence, which can't even 2HKO this thing with Outrage. Overall, this thing has been my favorite thing to use in UU so far, so I don't see myself replacing it.
Now I wanted some nice, raw power. So I decided to throw in a very nice special scarf mon. As you see, that's Hydreigon.
Hydreigon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Dark Pulse
- U-turn
This is another spot I have considered switching up. This used to be Specs Dragalge, and although it hits extremely hard, and provided nice special bulk, I felt it dragged my team down as it didn't have much speed. Hydreigon fit the bill well at the time, as it gives me a nice U-Turn core with Darmanitan(SPOILERS!). It smacks a lot of mons, and is just overall a nice source of sheer power. This team really lacked special attacks without it, so it fit well in my team. Though, I've considered replacing this with a Fairy, because Honchkrow being a problem.
Now time for the Mega. I decided to use a very popular one in Mega Aero.
Aerodactyl-Mega @ Aerodactylite
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Stone Edge
- Aqua Tail
- Aerial Ace
- Hone Claws
This thing is a hell of a lot of fun to use. I never realized how good it was until I actually used it, if it that makes sense. This thing outspeeds almost every nonscarf mon in the tier, and outspeeds +1 Gatr as well. I choose Jolly to outspeed, as said before, +1 Gatr, and to outspeed Mega Beedril, who otherwise smacks this team. After a Hone Claws boost, this thing destroys a lot of teams, and doesn't miss its moves due to the accuracy boost. Hone Claws was Roost for longevity, but I have changed it since then. Overall, I feel Aero might be one of the bets megas in UU, and it destroys a lot of ill-prepared teams.
Now, I wanted to have a nice U-Turn core with Hydreigon, and something that can value as a solid lead. That mon was Darmanitan.
Darmanitan @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Superpower
- Earthquake
- U-turn
This thing is probably one of the best physical attackers in this tier. It can 2HKO almost anything that doesn't resist it's Flare Blitz. Now, for the moveset, I have considered changing Super Power for Rock Slide, as Rock Slide can let me revenge kill Mega Aero with ease. Even now talking about it, I think that would be the right move to put on this thing. Super Power is just here to be able to take over half of Cloyster's health away, but I feel Rock Slide could do the same thing. Though, Super Power is nice for Blissey, but Flare Blitz would do the same thing. Please let me know which would be more beneficial!
Finally, seeing how this team is weak to hazards and on the specially defensive side, I decided to take two birds with one stone and throw Empoleon on this team.
Empoleon @ Leftovers
Ability: Torrent
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Defog
- Toxic
- Scald
- Stealth Rock
Empoleon not only doubles as a defoger and special wall, but it also triples as my only form of hazard support. Since I don't have a move slot for Spikes on my Chesnaught, I needed to at least get Rocks on my Empoleon. This thing is straight utility, as it has nice chances for Scald burns and what not as well. Also, any bulky mon can get Toxic'ed by this thing, and that's always nice. But other than that, this thing's role is pretty straight forward.
Thanks for reading guys. I look forward to messing around with this team. I'll include a export to this team as well. Have a nice day, and thank you for your criticisms if you do choose to write any!
