Man what a hard slate.

I love Bronzong, but I love Mandibuzz too.

And giving Delta Stream to Mandibuzz is so hilariously awesome (plus genuinely practical as hell), that it's pretty much locked my vote in. The Buzz will once more become a staple on Defensive/Balanced teams I feel (Roost/Defog/Foul Play/U-Turn is all you need, and that last slot can be Toxic/Knock Off/even Tailwind IIRC).

Obligated to defend because mine

Its not just the Stabs
It is immune to T-wave as in thundorus can't paralyze it and niether can klefki
it gets neutrality to rocks so it can click u-turn twice as many times
It is also gets a freed up coverage slot for knock off
Stab drill run is obvious but it is great for 1HKOing mega metagross(and can even tank a bullet punch most of the time)
252+ Atk Tough Claws Mega Metagross Bullet Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Beedrill: 210-247 (77.4 - 91.1%) -- 25% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
252+ Atk Adaptability Mega Beedrill Drill Run vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Metagross: 300-356 (99.6 - 118.2%) -- 93.8% chance to OHKO
immunity to electric lets it actually switch into things sometimes

As for tanking priority-the only thing it could tank for priority was fighting and it can still do that--preaty sure you mean resistance to fighting
(bug/ground)
252+ Atk Conkeldurr Mach Punch vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Beedrill: 77-91 (28.4 - 33.5%) -- 0.2% chance to 3HKO

sure now it has a weakness to ice shard and aquajet but it cant tank those hits already
(with bug/poison)
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Aqua Jet vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Beedrill: 243-286 (89.6 - 105.5%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO

240 Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Beedrill: 173-204 (63.8 - 75.2%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
240 Atk Life Orb Mamoswine Ice Shard vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Mega Beedrill: 173-204 (63.8 - 75.2%) -- 6.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Edit: it also gets a resistance to ground for what its worth it can tank a choice scarfed lando-t's earthquake, knock off its item and the u-turn out, granted will not want to tank any more hits
If it sounded like I was bashing it my apologizes. I did see the values after posting from Pika Pal about the t-wave immunity and adaptability drill run is better than poison. I guess with all the defensive buffs I was still thinking about beedrill defensively, which was stupid but yea it's a great theory mon, but since offense is such a dominating force in OU, I'm more of a defensive buff guy so I probably won't vote for it but that doesn't mean I meant to say it was trash :[.

omg <3 celticpride
<3 bronzong
<3 chrissy
will chime in later with a lovely post ;]
gotta do this cos someone posted after me :[
ok here we go:

Bronzong+Recover: if you have ever read my posts, you'd know how much i love recovery on bulky mons that dont have it, like on the Spiritomb we had earlier, on which i didn't like Dark Aura. Bronzong was the same case. It's like i was talking to the moon for so long and now my prayers have been answered :] We all know what a fk'er Jirachi is defensively, and Bronzong is like the Deity that all Jirachi follow! It has a stellar typing, ability, stats, and now a form of recovery that isn't Rest. This is the ultimate answer to Lando-I and now it's not worn down easily

0 Atk Life Orb Landorus Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 192-229 (56.8 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Life Orb Landorus Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 133-156 (39.3 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
0 SpA Bronzong Hidden Power Ice vs. 0 HP / 0- SpD Landorus: 192-228 (60.1 - 71.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO (trust me HP Ice was part of the set calc gave me :/)

Now that's just what the calc gave me, and i believe s mixed spread can be used effectively as well. And unlike Rachi, it doesnt give shit about Lando-t(Knock off is rare on these)
It provides rocks, Ground immunity(sort of), and is hella fat. And it look cool.

Mandibuzz+Delta Stream: So you run Overcoat to not be pestered by sand (and hail? aboma's cool!)? Guess what?! There's a better way round: just kill the weather :] The only thing i have against this is lack of flavor (and my genetic hatred for walls). Otherwise it's cool af
  • gets rid of sand=die exca
  • gets rid of rain=die toat
  • gets rid of sand again=wtf is a spdef boost for ttar
  • gets rid of sun and hail even though they're on point of extinction
  • ofc the reduced weakness
  • die exca again
AM play mray more imo n_n

Thundurus-T+Competitive: It's a blind man's gamble(Fuujitora). At least it's good against Delta Stream Mandi
+2 252 SpA Thundurus-T Thunderbolt vs. 248 HP / 108 SpD Mandibuzz in Strong Winds: 294-348 (69.5 - 82.2%) -- 56.3% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

Mega Beedrill->Bug/Ground: Honestly i would have preferred Poison/Ground to still be ever threatening to fairies and such. Also removes tspikes which i alway find useful. Main draw being that now it's not fucked by hazards, it's scary as hell. While not losing to thundy 1v1, now it doesnt hurt it much back either. Also we lack good poison type atm anyway so it'd be good. This is great as well no denying that.

ApplepieFTW The taco bell now has Recover ^.^

SparksBlade While its not my suggestion, but I gotta say, Mega Bae's biggest draw is stab adaptability U-turn spamming. Poison+ground, while defensively great, would not have this offensive advantage.

About Mandi, more important that removing weather would be the neutrality to those supereffective moves. Kabutops, T-tar, Excadrill.... none of those rock moves hit supereffectively anymore. Hell, T-tar gets a new counter now if Mandi carries toxic; defogging, taunting, phazing in its face and what not.

Im sad to not see oblivion wing thundy-t :C we already have a pretty good defog blocker that threatens all the same things in regular thundurus. plus he has the additional speed which is pretty big since it can threaten a no-setup sweep, as well as the surprise factor due to the huge strength of all his other sets

mega beedrill seems he would be good with ground typing. he has a new issue with flying types but they are so much easier to wear down with stealth rock + u-turn damage thats its a huge boost over struggling to deal with ground type switchins and some steels

I think you mean bug-ground.

So basically Thundurus-T is becoming Thundurus-I that goes special>mixed? Sweet!
I'm not sure it works out quite that well. Thundurus-T is sitting at a much less effective speed tier, since Thundurus-I was able to threaten the 2 most common offensive defoggers with his higher speed, Thundurus-T can't outspeed and KO them even after getting the boost. It certainly helps against defensive Defoggers and Intimidate users, but the drop in speed is a serious detriment to that set's design.

perhaps there isnt a buff that exists for thundurus-t that would OBLIVION WING help him not be overshadowed by thundurus i

edit to make this not a shitpost: mandibuzz with delta stream is i think more of a beast than we are giving it credit for (and its already been given a lot of credit)... mega sableye is considered pretty great defensively thanks to good defensive stats, instant recovery and only 1 fairy weakness. mandibuzz is even bulkier, more difficult to set up on (foul play + whirlwind + fast taunt), has arguably even better typing with the same only fairy weakness- and can also avoid status from quite a few defensive pokemon with taunt too. this thing would be so difficult to take out, especially when a team usually has 1 fairy type move on it max. i wonder if it could even use a nasty plot + taunt set against stall teams.

It becomes a much stronger defogger because it should be able to now defog against a bunch of new sr setters that come with rock and ice coverage like terrakion or mamoswine.

its interesting that when mandibuzz roosts, his resistances change too into something completely unique (if delta stream stays in effect?), they turn into:

Immune: Psychic
Resists: Ghost, Electric, Ice, Rock, Dark
Weakness: Bug, Fairy, Fighting

I know. It was just supposed to be humourous (although it was a pretty bad joke). Maybe saying that it was now Milotic would have been better.

Anyway, I think that Bronzong has gained the biggest buff. While I think that there could have been a more thematic move, i can't think of a more notable recover varant so... yeah. This allows him to function far better than before, greatly improving its previously underwhelming longevity.

I seem to recall that Thun-T's buffs have to be by way of abilities (or typing) because giving him moves would also buff Thun-I, and who needs that. Also, I think Delta Stream probably doesn't make a Pokemon resist the Flying weaknesses unless they already have them, but I could be wrong (seems hard to test).

Well no, because there are certain Pokémon who have alternate forms with exclusive move - take for instance Rotom; it can only have Hydro Pump in it's Wash form and can only have Leaf Storm in it's Mow form. So it's totally possible to suggest moves for alt forms.

Bulbapedia isnt giving me any information on how it delta stream would work with roost. Smogon says that it just halves the power of electric, rock and ice type moves during strong winds.

During the Roost turn, the Pokemon is considered to simply not have the Flying Type at all (Pure Flying types would become ??? or neutral to everything I believe). So while Roosting, Mandibuzz is arguably more vulnerable because it no longer has the Flying weaknesses, but losing the type altogether makes it vulnerable to Bug, Fighting, Ground, etc. Delta Stream basically eliminates the weaknesses of the Flying Type while still giving it Flying properties for resistance calcs.

Roost essentially makes it a Pure Dark Type for the turn.

I feel obligated to post because my Bronzong suggestion actually made it :D

As far as Bronzong goes, my philosophy behind it was that we are in a meta game that sturggles to find answers to to Landorus and Mega Metagross. As it stands now, Bronzong checks both of these Pokemon relatively well depending on its EV spread (personally I think mixed is best similar to what Ferrothorn commonly runs), but it is constantly pressured when it cannot take repeated hits from these Pokemon making it only one time check to both of them. Recover is a simple change, albeit bland, but we need more defensively-inclined mons in the meta for stall to have better matchup overall against all of these threats and this coming from a player who has an incredible bias for Offensive teams. Obviously my submission is getting my vote :p

I really think Competitive Thundy is a very mehmeh option. The two most common defoggers are Lati@s which OHKO thundy when it switches in on the defog. It doesn't help that its speed tier is mediocre as well so it won't be sweeping teams unless it runs Agility which is hard to pull off the begin with when it's so frail. Yea it takes advantage of defensive defoggers, but do we really need another thing to shit on stall lol?

Mandibuzz is interesting submission though I'll admit I'm not keen on the idea just due to the fact that its a legendary Pokemon's ability. Having something to take on weather teams is nice, but weather teams have enough flaws as is because they almost always stack weaknesses. The fact that it's also only weak to Fairy is bothersome because it means every team would have to run a Fairy which is quite limiting from a team building prospective. It's great gluemon for stall which is very appreciated, but I think it may be a bit too much.

Beedrill is sweet! Changing it to a Bug / Ground type really fixes the flaws it previously had. The lack of SR weakness is huge and the twave immunity is amazing for an offensive Pokemon that constantly pivots with U-turn. Gaining STAB on drill run is also very nice and makes it so Steel-types don't wall it as well anymore. It's still balanced out because it's still vulnerable to priority and Bulky grounds still wall it to hell and back. It might get my vote if I wasn't so biased towards Bronzong.

Really cool slate so kudos to the council and then people who suggested these!

Oh yay new slate!

Bronzong + Recover: I think this is the buff Bronzong needs to shine in the OU metagame as it's able to counter Landorus, Mega Metagross, and non Fire Blast Mega Altaria. This is pretty huge for stall teams as they now have a consistent answer to those Pokemon and you don't have to use, say, Cresselia to counter Landorus now. It has Levitate which is great as it is unaffected by Spikes and Toxic Spikes which is huge. It's a pretty cool theorymon and this is what Bronzong needs. It's still very passive though.

Competitive Thundurus-T: It loses Volt Absorb which kind of sucks because now you can't just freely switch-in to Volt Switch. It also loses to common defoggers such as Lati@s but Scarf does help remedy that a bit.

Will post rest later and add on to Thundurus

Tons of Bronzong calcs coming up!

168+ SpA Mega Altaria Fire Blast vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 144-170 (42.6 - 50.2%) -- 1.2% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (86 BP) vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Mega Altaria: 156-186 (44.1 - 52.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
(since both have reliable recovery there's no clear winner here. If it's a Dragon Dance variant, Bronzong loses)
+2 0 SpA Clefable Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 160-190 (47.3 - 56.2%) -- 82.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Bronzong Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Metagross: 92-110 (30.5 - 36.5%) -- 98.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock
(unless Megagross gains a Meteor Mash boost, it's completely countered by Bronzong!)
252+ Atk Choice Band Huge Power Azumarill Waterfall vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 210-247 (62.1 - 73%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

(Bronzong loses)
252 Atk Life Orb Bisharp Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 354-421 (104.7 - 124.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO

4 Atk Bronzong Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Garchomp: 68-81 (19 - 22.6%) -- guaranteed 5HKO after Stealth Rock (I'm not using Gyro Ball here due to Garchomp's Rough Skin)
(Bronzong has the advantage here, but if it's a SD variant, Garchomp will probably win)
252 SpA Life Orb Gengar Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 221-265 (65.3 - 78.4%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (138 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Gengar: 204-241 (78.7 - 93%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock (guaranteed OHKO after SR damage and one LO recoil)
(without SR, Gengar has a 25% to be OHKOed by Bronzong. In conclusion, Bronzong wins in a 1 vs 1 situation and if Gengar switches into it, but loses if it switches into Gengar (unless it's on a Sludge Wave, Icy Wind or a missed Focus Blast))
0 Atk Gliscor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 118-140 (34.9 - 41.4%) -- 99.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

(unless, for some reasons, Gliscor doesn't carry Knock Off, Bronzong loses, but even then, it won't win)
252 Atk Mold Breaker Mega Gyarados Crunch vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 264-312 (78.1 - 92.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Bronzong Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 0 Def Heatran: 248-296 (64.4 - 76.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
(offensive sets do beat Bronzong though, but if it's a defensive set, Bronzong wins)
252 Atk Landorus-T Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 204-240 (60.3 - 71%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (150 BP) vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Mega Lopunny: 154-183 (56.8 - 67.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
(M-Lopunny can't switch into Bronzong's Gyro Ball, but has the advantage over Bronzong with its fantastic speed tier)
252 SpA Life Orb Latios Shadow Ball vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 148-177 (43.7 - 52.3%) -- 16% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery (very rare)
4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (138 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Latios: 163-193 (54.5 - 64.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock
(if and only if Latios has Shadow Ball for some reasons, Bronzong has a small chance to lose. If not, Bronzong always wins)
+3 252 SpA Manaphy Scald vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 177-208 (52.3 - 61.5%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

(Bronzong loses)
0 Atk Mega Sableye Foul Play vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 168-198 (49.7 - 58.5%) -- 98.4% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Bronzong Earthquake vs. 252 HP / 112 Def Mega Sableye: 50-59 (16.4 - 19.4%) -- possible 5HKO after Stealth Rock
(Bronzong loses against any M-Sableye variant)
44 Atk Mega Scizor Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 180-214 (53.2 - 63.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
4 Atk Bronzong Earthquake vs. 248 HP / 16+ Def Mega Scizor: 45-53 (13.1 - 15.4%) -- possible 6HKO after Stealth Rock

(Talonflame can't switch into Bronzong's Gyro Ball with SR up, but apart from that, Bronzong loses)
76 Atk Life Orb Thundurus Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 192-229 (56.8 - 67.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
76 Atk Life Orb Thundurus Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 133-156 (39.3 - 46.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock (Knock Off 2HKOes after SR)
4 Atk Bronzong Gyro Ball (140 BP) vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Thundurus: 92-108 (30.7 - 36.1%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock

76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 174-205 (51.4 - 60.6%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery
76 Atk Life Orb Tornadus-T Knock Off vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Bronzong: 117-138 (34.6 - 40.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Stealth Rock
216 SpA Life Orb Tornadus-T Heat Wave vs. 252 HP / 252+ SpD Bronzong: 151-179 (44.6 - 52.9%) -- 28.1% chance to 2HKO after Stealth Rock and Leftovers recovery

Alright, so I got bored doing that, but it shows how well it can stop many special attackers and even some physical attackers with a specially defensive spread. I'll try to find a legit mixed spread in the next few days or so.

Really liking Bronzong right now. It has draws over Rachi in terms of utility with Levitate, and recovery was really all it needed to be a great check to Lando and others.

Thund's speed tier is a problem and this is why I don't like this buff particularly, because the Lati's still outspeed and OHKO with Draco, and losing the cool electric immunity hurts it's pivoting ability. Scarf could be good though.

Immunity to T-wave for Beedrill is pretty neat and it gains the ability to pivot into an electrics, and STAB Ground is pretty good. I could see this shining.

Mandibuzz is even harder to take down now, as Raikou and Ice-types can't hit it supereffectively. Still offers the same utility, but getting rid of weather is a nice perk.

Great slate, torn between Zong and Bee right now

Tons of Bronzong calcs coming up!

Alright, so I got bored doing that, but it shows how well it can stop many special attackers and even some physical attackers with a specially defensive spread. I'll try to find a legit mixed spread in the next few days or so.

I would think that Bronzong would work best if tailored to one defense or the other. It's fantastic on Stall, but that's because it's now consistent and reliable. You theoretically could tailor the EVs to be mixed, but then you'd have to play extra conservatively. I'd specialize with the threats you want to take, and let the other team members handle the rest. Obviously, it could come in and handle them in a pinch, but yeah specialization is a good thing.

All of these are awesome except for Thundy-T with Competitive. Honestly, what kind of idiot came up with that? Oh, right. I did.

Honestly, these are all pretty good, but Recover Bronzong is the best imo. Reliable recovery is all it needed to be perfect. Delta Stream Mandibuzz is pretty good, but I don't get the flavor at all. Competitive Thundy-T is my own suggestion, and it's ehhh. You've got to run significant SpDef investment to take Latios/Latias' Draco Meteors. Bug/Ground Mega Drill would be SOLID. It's a much better defensive and offensive type and Adaptability Drill Run hits like a truck.
