Also bullet i can make you a team if you want, just give me your game wednesday night (assuming you read this thread by then). This time i should be able to get full EV's on your team rather than the last minute team for the connection tour.

Thanks everyone for coming! That was a lot of fun, hope to see all of you again some time in the future! Everyone was really relaxed.

The 3v3 best-out-of-three format is suprisingly fair, and really interesting due to the options your "sideboard" presents.

so prior to the tournament starting ninjadead turkeyslapped me around with a weavile which is somehow faster than mine. wtf you're meant to pursuit against lead azelf not night slash it :( :( :(

and then we get down to business.

In game two GOD HIMSELF INTERVENED BECAUSE I USED A GENGAR WITH DOUBLE TEAM AND HYPNOSIS. HYPNOSIS MISSED AND I WAS HIT TWICE THROUGH FIVE DTS. Suppose that's what I get for pulling something that on a girl :(

shdw_strkr: I won but I forget how. I think game one was a standard Azelf/Weavile/Gyarados fisting and game two had a Gengar killing a Gallade in it somewhere.

Max: Big balls for using a Ninjask team. However I have the sneaking suspicion that Gyarados will be quite good in D/P.

Lots of misplays here, and BS luck from both corners. Wasn't the best game either of us have played.

MVP: Bullet Punch, and (I think it was this game?) a Gyarados on 6 HP.

actually he took me to frowntown in the first game due to heatran. I'm not sure what happened with the next two but it involved his Hera eating an AA from Weavile (rumour has it that weavile can learn a flying move), and his lead Heatran (his MVP in all the games we played) walking into a lead Gyarados. I guess it was a victory well earned?

after that i have a bye so i go off and fail at time crisis 4:

RABicle: Azelf is starting to lose its magic since everyone knows about the scarf, but it got me a few points here. However, in one game he got a free kill due to not having Thunderpunch on Metagross though..I switched Gyara for Weavile only for it to eat a meteor mash :(
The Iron Ball + Fling on Shifty was a nice touch. He did quite well. I completely wreck him in the final game after Gengar does its thing and he lets Gyarados get a DD. Thanks.

Max (finals): now don't get me wrong

but if your team gets 3-0ed by gyarados after a dragon dance (as the saying goes)

Game One my Gyarados beats him to a pulp, or did I lose Game One and repress the memory? Game Two was much the same. Ancient Egyptian Cat-Gonk goes 6-0 with one bye. Why couldn't I have done that at the Connection Tour .___________________________________________.
 
LoL! nice battle report.

My favourite battle had to be against RABicle.

My ninjask had +6 atk, +6 speed, a substitute.
I baton pass to Garchomp. GG. Sweep.

My closest would have to be against you, Cat-Gonk (the first time). I should have just used Ancient Power to kill your weavile, rather than stupidly using hypnosis.

I was hoping you would change your team on the last match to something I could handle better with my set of three.

Aerial Ace didn't OHKO my Hera, for the record. It survived on 1HP (shit dmg roll?) and died from the life orb recoil.
 
Oh yeah, didn't see that. Shame alot of people can't make it on that date :( Could we also have games of Mario Kart(if anyone has it) and Metroid?(I have it)

Oh, and next time, please people, don't use annoyer teams(Max* and his baton pass/protect team). It really doesn't show and kind of skill, even though it rapes the unexpected, it's just not right. Now a lose to Hybrid, that was honorable.

I disagree with you pretty hard on this one, any sort of abstract concept of "honour" doesn't make any sense at all in a competitive environment. Besides, I beat Max not once but twice and my team was very, very aggressive. Gyarados loves Ninjask.

That being said, this is a casual competition, so a "soft ban" (an informal agreement not to stall) could work if enough people want it. I like the long game, but Sub/Protect + Leftovers is a bit of a test of luck. Maybe put brakes on double or triple protect for the same reason that OHKOs are off limits?

A simple way to discourage stalling is to enforce a time limit, where the use of a healing move (including Leftovers) results in a game loss once the time limit is hit. This stops stuff like Walrein from taking over, and also encourages people to get shit on faster!
 
I agree with you on the healing move thing but enforcing it on Leftovers is a bit much; you can't help it healing once the time limit is reached/passed.
