Resource Ask a simple question get a simple answer: RU edition

you tend to want to have psyshock over psychic to win cm wars against opposing users/special walls and focus blast is generally preferred in this current meta.
oh I thought tgat psychic would be better since there are no pink blob but you mention it psyshock seem to be better.
thanks!

Any dangerous calm minders that I should know about?(didn't play RU fors long time)

Meloetta, Spiritomb (you lose here), Delphox and Mega Audino all have CM sets to look out for. Uxie also has a pretty rare one.

EDIT: Wanted to say, psyshock actually only barely matters for *winning* the CM war if you come in on each other, since a lot of these either win or lose at match up (Melo is the only toss up imo and even then). It's more useful for stopping the war from ever happening by making you too immediately threatening for them to try.

Shadow Ball vs Focus Blast really depends on tour team's structure, but most of the time Psyshock is enough for winning CM wars too

WHat is the appeal in Ambipom? I see this thing everywhere in RU and its not even that good. If anyone can tell, that would be appreciated.

id think the new people to ru get attracted to fake out technician. while its not a good mon, its also one of the first mons to show up on the teambuilder, so new people who dont know the viability will see the fo + technician and think its a decent mon.

Bronzong, spD jellicent, spD rhyperior (+spD nature) and piloswine comes to mind from a defensive standpoint, piloswine would need some wish support for it to be durable. Accelgor with hp ice is an option for revenge killing that most noivern users wont generally expect.

If you wanna dig into something far more nichier territory, cryogonal is another possibility.

theres also mega glalie on offense with ice shard to check noivern o:

Are there any good noivern checks in the tier atm besides aromatisse?

bronzong is prob the best, resits draco + hurricane, has access to heatproof. If you really wanna go there...AV Claw is an option. Other things such as registeel, togetic, and mega audino will also work. Even more options are to bring an ice shard user such as pilo, m-glalie, sneasel, cryogonal, or even lapras.

Cryogonal is hardly a check tbh:

252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Cryogonal: 161-192 (57.2 - 68.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Focus Blast vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Cryogonal: 216-255 (76.8 - 90.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

Since cryogonal is a spinner rocks are probably up and that puts it into focus blast ko range. If it is against a flamethrower variant it only switches in once and even then it won't enjoy life at all.

Cryogonal has base 50 attack. Not trying to be rude just pointing that out.

Why are you calcing that on a offensive cryogonal variant? this isnt NU. In RU you use it as a special wall or as a bulky spinner (only if necessary):
252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 88+ SpD Cryogonal: 138-164 (40.2 - 47.8%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Draco Meteor vs. 248 HP / 88+ SpD Cryogonal: 148-175 (43.1 - 51%) -- guaranteed 3HKO after Leftovers recovery

-2 252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Flamethrower vs. 248 HP / 88+ SpD Cryogonal: 70-83 (20.4 - 24.1%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery

-2 252 SpA Life Orb Noivern Draco Meteor vs. 248 HP / 88+ SpD Cryogonal: 75-90 (21.8 - 26.2%) -- possible 5HKO after Leftovers recovery
Thats why you run cryogonal alongside a reliable hazard remover in the form of flygon, without rocks it can easily switch into noivern all day having recovery and freeze-dry always OHKOs with no investment, plus defensive flygon synergizes pretty well with it

its meant to revenge...no need to nit pick dude. if its LO its going to be taking recoil and i only listed it due to the fact it gets ice shard. Also noivern cant switch into ice beam or freeze dry. 4- Att Cryo Ice Shard + SR is about 70% so pretty much any prior damage including LO recoil is gunna put it in KO range.

Can we please not use this thread to discuss the merits of Cryogonal as a response to Noivern? Whether or not it is a check, a counter, or a revenge killer, it is a terrible Pokemon in RU and should see pretty much no usage. o_o

How bad is Servine?
I done some legit things with one with some bulk and a good amount of SpA and modest nature.
HP fire to damage Esca, Synthesis to aid longevity and glare to annoy revenge killers.

servine is ok i guess, i used it before but the set i was using was sub/leaf storm/hp rock/giga drain

i used it under webs also. Tbh im not quite sure how many people have actually used it.

Servine has actually been used by a lot of people in the RU room, myself included, and generally the consensus is that it's mediocre but usable and has some pretty huge flaws that keep it from catching on. RU is one of the few tiers where bulky waters don't really dominate, and Servine's first hit is pretty pitiful, limiting set-up opportunities. Specs and LO are super hard to use, Scarf multiplies the coverage and first-hit power problems (it does get Knock Off and Glare though, and 83 speed isn't bad), Eviolite has pretty meh bulk (max speed is about where DD scrafty is) and it can be difficult to find time to Synthesis unless you already win (exception is really non-Fire Blast Togetic). Any 4x resist except like band Escavalier essentially wins as well which is unfortunate. It's fun to use, though.

2 questions

I've heard of this bulk up baton pass medicham recently. Can someone show me the set I want to try it out.

I asked if druddigon is still good and no one answered me. Is it still a good option on a team?

Just regarding the recent suspect testing, I wonder how Magneton would do in today's RU metagame? Could Scarf Analytic Magneton serve as a potential check to Cobalion? Just a simple Q
